Out of four meals out in Chamonix, two were here and we had the same thing both times: the cheese fondue moustache! It was quite simply DIVINE! This is probably one of the tastiest ever fondues I’ve ever had. The service was very quick and efficient and the main waiter was friendly enough. The wine waitress was quite frosty. Just in general the service wasn’t quite as warm a welcome as I’d like. The decoration is very warm Chamonix chalet style with loads of old skis hanging around and moustaches on the glasses added a certain personal touch. Also pretty reasonably priced for Chamonix and just a lovely experience and atmospheric restaurant.

If you’re looking for authentic Alpine dinning then this place is for you. Excellent fondu. I had never finished a pan of fondu ever! But I have now. Coming with generous amounts of dipping material which is all of good quality. A lovely atmosphere with attentive staff and good wine choice that complimented our meal well. When I come back to Chamonix I will come back here.

What a fantatsic restaurant! From the name to the owner who explains the name to the staff to the food… just brilliant. We visited here on our last night in town and were treated to as good a culinary experience as you could hope for. I started with the fois gras de maison, rich… indulgant…fantastic. Its one of my true food loves and I was very happy with my decision. For main I shared a hot stone banquet: o), chicken and steak with lots of side and doing ym own cooking. Loved it… so much!!! Again a superb wine list — the didnt have the wine I asked for but the waiter suggested an alternative that was incredible! When I am back in Chamonix… I will be back here!!! :o)

Traveling solo, I was provided a fine table in the corner overlooking the small rustic and very well appointed dining room. Had the prix fixe«menu moustache». Everything on point. Fois gras tremendous. Chicken and mushrooms in light cream sauce w gratin potatoes very hot and perfect for the cold and rainy night. Wine from the Loire spectacular. Service is also very very good. Highly recommended.

This is kind of embarrassing, but in the last two weeks I have stayed in Chamonix three nights and eaten at Maison Moustache et Filles all three nights. Having tried quite a few items, I can confidently say that this place is a real hidden gem in an otherwise overly touristy town. Located on a very small road just off one of the main drags, it’s hidden from the crowds of downtown Chamonix, yet is remains extremely convenient. The inside is dark and charming in a rustic way, with wooden tables and chairs and other adornments. There is also a large back patio so patrons can eat outside when weather permits. The food comes presented in an equally rustic way: on oval metal platters, or square wooden slabs with knobs, or in small ceramic, heart-shaped casserole dishes. It’s really enchanting. The servers consist mainly of two young women(les filles), a really sweet young man, and a little boy that looks about 4 years old. He absolutely loves to help bring the food, though he’s quite shy about it. Really adorable. As for food… I have tried the Goat Cheese Salad, the Salmon with Beurre Blanc, the Duck Confit, the Chicken with Mushroom Sauce, and the Warm Chocolate Cake. The goat cheese salad is SO good. I had it twice. It’s a green salad with little toasts topped with slabs of goat cheese that I found addicting(and that’s coming from someone that doesn’t usually like cheese!) The salmon, unfortunately, was quite undercooked when I ordered it. I should have commented and sent it back, but tired and hungry, I ate it undercooked. My fellow hikers ordered it again the second night and it looked perfectly cooked, so I think my dish was just a fluke. For my second night, I ordered the Poulet with Mushroom Sauce and Potato Gratin. The potatoes were super fantastic. The chicken was also good, but I found the sauce a bit too rich for my taste. So for the third night I ordered the Duck Confit which also came with potato gratin. This was the best main dish I had hands down. The duck wasn’t overly slimy and fatty like I usually find duck; it was really delicious. And finally… the chocolate«cake». At least that’s what they call it. In reality it’s a chocolate lava cake on crack. A huge heart-shaped pot of melted chocolate. Tastes good, but they really need to leave it in the oven for just another minute if they want to get a molten cake. Oh well. Overall a really quality place that I would recommend to anyone spending a night in Chamonix!
