I have found my favorite croissant in the world. And I am not saying this just because they’ve won the croissant championship the last three years. It’s because I have tried every croissant from every French bakery I’ve come across in my life for the past decade. The croissant there is super crispy, flaky, and buttery without being oily. The inside of the croissant is perfectly moist and flaky too. The only way it can be better is when it’s right out of the oven. So, why only 3 stars? Well, that’s because I’ve tried other stuff too. Their quiche is just okay, or just slightly better than mine. The ham and cheese sandwich was cold and soggy. Therefore, 5 stars for croissants and 2 stars for their other baked goods.

One of the best if not the best baguette I’ve had in Paris. The pan au chocolat is also great, buttery and flaky on the inside and best warmed up. They have lots of other snacks including sandwiches and croque madames. Don’t be intimidated by the long line it moves fast! Must get in Paris!

Winner of the 2nd best croissant in Paris award in 2009. The pain au chocolat is the flakiest of the neighborhood, but also the most deprived of chocolat! One morning, the pain au chocolat was burned to a crisp and should not have been served. The croissants are an interesting shape– they are a bit more flat than most and resemble colonial tricorn hats. The baguettes, at least when fresh out of the oven, are pretty good… crispy on the outside and just right chewiness on the inside. This and Chez Manon are my go-to spots for takeaway breakfast in Le Marais.

Super boulangerie avec un super boulanger hyper cool et hyper patient. Je m’y suis rendue trois matins de suite aux aurores pour récupérer de grosses commandes de pains, viennoiseries et mini-viennoiseries en grand nombre, en changeant parfois la commande le soir pour le lendemain et le patron a été très cool. Ses baguettes sont délicieuses et le gros pain au levain est à tomber, idéal pour faire des tartines pour les grandes tablées. Je garde encore un souvenir ému de l’odeur des viennoiseries sortant du four, et se répandant dans ma voiture…
