Formerly part of L’univers Taillevent, now closed, L’Angle was by far the coolest restaurants I ever had the chance to dine in. Though it’s been a few years, I will never forget having a starting course of a crawfish sorbet topped with a giant prawn. The sommelier was fantastic, and for € 38 for the prefixe lunch, you can’t really beat it.

Had lunch here a few years ago when I was last in Paris and recall it as the most lovely meal I had. The food was exceptionally wonderful in this land of gastronomy, the ambiance delightfully comfortable, and the service superlative. A bargain at 38 euros in comparison to what a meal at Taillevent would cost.

Get the set tasting menu! At 85 euro, it is possibly the best value in Paris for a meal of that quality! I have been there a few times. This most recent visit I didn’t do the tasting menu because I wasn’t that hungry. I started with the fois gras(this is a terrine and I tend to prefer it hot, but theirs is the best terrine I have had anywhere in the world!). I then had the 14 hour braised veal and finished(fantastic!). And finished with an off the menu dessert they promised I would like(it was an almond macaroon base topped with fruit and ice cream… very good, but I like their chocolate dessert more). For philistine Americans like me, the staff is great about translating the menu into English and making recommendations. HIGHLY recommend!

What a way to enjoy the taste and quality of Taillevent while saving tons of money! This restaurant wasn’t easy to find, but the meal was exceptional. For roughly 70 euro a person(it was a while ago that we were there), we enjoyed a well-prepared 6 course meal. We had perfectly cooked scallops, exquisite foie gras, perfectly cooked lamb, and wonderful desserts. it was also nice to start the night with a perfect glass of champagne. What I remember most about this restaurant was the level of service. We were easily the youngest couple in the place but the service was impeccable. The servers seemed to anticipate our every need and were so courteous! Actually, I think what I remember most is Jim G.‘s story upon returning from the bathrooms, which were quite opulent and downstairs(a bit tricky in heels, mind you). He gets back to the table, grinning, and proceeds to tell me that he went into the women’s restroom. He was surprised that there weren’t any urinals in his, and, as a woman was coming downstairs as he was returning, he watched her walk into the same room from which he just left! He speaks less French than I do(which is none, really), so the H(for Homme, men) was entirely lost on him. Where are the pictograms when you need them? Thank God no one walked in! A lovely meal, with lovely service, and funny stories too!
