This spot is an incredible spot in the 7th for bresse chicken aficionados. Between their coq au vin and their decadent poulet aux morilles — you will have a happy belly. Prices are moderate for paris standards, as main plats from 25 – 35 €. Ambience and décor is traditional, old and tavern-like feeling, but it is casual and relaxed for groups and families. Just be sure to make a reservation ahead of time since this seems to be a popular neighborhood restaurant and the lovely maitre’d is warm and friendly(also speaks English well).

Stayed in the Rue Cler area for a family vacation and found this restaurant searching online for authentic French dining. Out of the entire week in Paris this was our favorite place. In fact, it was so good we went there twice. The restaurant specializes in soufflés and we shared the Crab Soufflé, and a trio soufflé desert. Also tried the Coq Au Vin and Beef Tenderloin. Everything was wonderful and well prepared.

We went to this restaurant after looking at reviews on Unilocal as we were hoping to dine in an authentically french establishment. well we were not disappointed! The food we chose. coq au vin, chocolate soufflé and flambé crêpe suzette grand marnier were all absolutely delicious! The staff were friendly, inviting, and considering it seemed not many english speaking people frequented there they gave excellent service to us. Definitely reccomended!

This is my favorite restaurant in Paris, which I have to travel to once a year on business. Every year I go there, and it never disappoints. It certainly seems to have very few tourists, and least none speaking English. However, they always seem to have one staff member who speaks English, and the others try to help where they can. They are very nice, in a warm(not formal) sort of way, and I feel VERY welcome and at home here. The place is always near full, even on a Thursday night in January. The staff is über professional, its almost as if they are choreographed as they serve dishes in a small space. The menu is very traditionally French, I believe, which means 1⁄3 of the menu are things I would not touch with a 10 foot pole(SweetBreads, Cows head, other oddities) but everything I have eaten there has been great. I’m sure even those oddities are good if you try them. I have had the Free Range chicken, the suckling pig, the terrine, the Pike, the fois Gras, as well as soups and salds, and my wife thinks any dish with their wild mushrooms is to die for. You can’t really go wrong here, I’m pretty sure. However, it is the dessert souffles that are what puts this restaurant over the top. They are absolutely, positively the best dessert I have ever had. Whether its the caramel, the flaming Grand Marnier, or the apple with calvados, it is so soft and flavorful, words cannot capture its exquisiteness. This year, I took all my direct reports, since my wife did not accompany me to Paris. I told them the staff this was my 3rd annual visit, and I expected to be back next January, they gave all four of us Cognac for free as an apertif. I love this place!!! The only reservation I can think of is that the tables are very, very close together, so it would probably not work as a truly romantic night out, or a place to have a business discussion.

NOT a tourist trap. The locals actually eat here. Hooray! As far as what to order — you just can’t go wrong here. I had the coq au vin — it was perfection! Made friends with the couple at the next table — forgot what they ordered — but they all looked delicious!

The secret should be out — this is a fabulous restaurant located in the heart of the 7th. On a Sunday night, our second in Paris, we were stumbling about. A good friend recommended a spot named Bistro Stella, but it was a long subway ride away it appeared and there was a tad bit of jet lag still lingering about us. So I decided to roam the streets of Paris, and it didn’t take long for me to realize(1) most restaurants are closed on Sunday and(2) my efforts to read a French menu and distinguish between good and tourist trap was futile. I needed Unilocal, and activated international roaming. Well worth it. Within seconds, I located L’Auberge Bressane, and it’s excellent reviews. I walked by, and it was 7:30. There were zero patrons. So we continued walking, taking in the sights and smells of Paris. It was now 7:45. Two patrons. Keep walking. Finally, at 8:00, and with two tables of two seated, we walked in the front door and were promptly greeted in French. We smiled. They politely showed us to a table, after confirming we did not have a reservation. Who would have thought that by 9:30, half the restaurant would be filled with a bustling clientele of tourists, locals and American celebrities(who shall remain unnamed). It was really one of the most charming meals I had in France, and it was hands down the best soufflé I have tasted in my life. I started my meal with Sausage lyonnaise, sausage served with potatoes and herbs and stuffed with pistachio. Served warm, the warmth of the sausage combined with the soft potatoes and the cool herbs was a blockbuster combination. Times I’ve eaten something similar in the USA? Zero. Really a wonderful starter. I had coq au vin for my main dish, served with macaroni and a deeply condensed sauce. Sitting alongside the flavorful mushrooms were three big chucks of slow cooked rooster. Times I have eaten rooster before this? Zero. Loved it. My wife had a puffed pastry stuffed with two types of mushrooms, sweet breads and herbs. My wife had never eaten sweet breads before, and she ate the entire meal. Except two bites, which were for me. This was a delicious dish. For dessert, we split a chocolate soufflé, and it was simply incredible. Never in my life have I had a soufflé that was so soft, so flavorful and so light

Popped in to this restaurant our first evening in Paris because it was close to our hotel. I had doubts, I usually like to try and research and be adventurous in my choices. Auberge Bressane was charming and wonderful. The staff was friendly with our minimal to no French. I believe we were the only non-french there. Tables were European style, very close together and they pull it out for you to access the banquette to sit. Clueless about specific French wines, we asked our server to recommend one based on our likes that was reasonably priced. It ended up being fantastic. I had free range chicken with morels in a crème sauce. Served with a side of pomme frites that I wasn’t too proud to dip into my sauce. Hubby had tagliatelle with morels in cream. Both wonderful. But the piece de resistance was the salted caramel soufflé for dessert. OMG! Run, do not walk, and get you some of this. This is what Paris is all about folks.

What a fun restaurant! I’ve been to Paris many times and have had many great meals there over the years… but this was one of my most enjoyable dining experiences and a great surprise(although not sure why it’s really surprising). My wife and I decided to go to Paris to celebrate our wedding anniversary and my birthday. For our anniversary, we went to another restaurant in the 7th District that was recommended by a guide book(I won’t say which one) and it was fine, but everyone in that restaurant was American and seemingly had the same guide book. Although the meal was fine and I’m American, I didn’t go to Paris to be surrounded by other Americans, so on the way home we decided to look around a little bit for a restaurant for my birthday. We passed by L’Auberge Bressane and when I looked inside, I knew it was where I wanted to go. You could tell it wasn’t filled with tourists, but actual Parisians. Not only that, but everyone inside looked to be having fun… and I was jealous! On my birthday we arrived early. The restaurant opened at 7:30 pm and we got there about 7:35ish, which I understand is very early for Parisians so we were one of the first to walk in the door. Not surprising that there weren’t many people there yet, but by 8:45 or so, the restaurant was packed. As travelers, we always give it a go with as much French as we possibly can(which is very, VERY little), but the waiter could obviously tell we were English speakers and made us feel right at home in English. They seem to have a team approach, so we had, if I remember correctly 4 different people help to serve us. Since it’s a restaurant that specializes in cuisine from Lyon and Burgundy, they have some REALLY great wines that in many cases are also REALLY expensive. I told our waiter what I was ordering(wild boar) and he recommended a perfect wine to go with it from a list of less expensive bottles. I think this particular bottle of wine was 45 Euros. With some wines on the list up to 500 Euros and many well over 100 Euros, I really felt that the waiter was trying to recommend a good wine pairing rather than sell me a high priced bottle of wine. That was great and a great sign of things to come. The rest of the service was just fantastic. The staff seemed to genuinely be having a great time at their jobs. They were warm, friendly, and fun interacting with each other and the patrons. We sat in the back and it was great watching the wait staff going back and forth into and out of the busy kitchen because they had to kick the swinging door open(since their hands were full of plates, etc.) and there were many«near» collisions with each other as one person was leaving and one was entering. My wife is a vegetarian, so the Comté cheese soufflé was out of this world for her. HUGE and delish! She got the seasonal mushroom appetizer that was amazing as well. I had the poached eggs in Beaujolais wine sauce with bacon and small onions as a starter… OMG!!! So good! I love game meats, so I had the Wild Boar. Perfect! We wanted to have one of their soufflés for dessert, because they look so amazing, but we were totally stuffed… buuuuutttt…since it was my birthday, we decided to share the Crepes Suzette Grand Marnier, which they cook tableside with flaming Grand Marnier!!! YUMMY!!! Finally, as we were getting ready to ask for our bill, and I was chatting with one of the waiters, I casually mentioned that it was my birthday. Well, he said he was going to go get me a glass of Armagnac and that I «can’t refuse it». So he brought two glasses… on the house… one that was 6 years old, I think and one that was 12 years old! I ended up drinking both because my wife doesn’t like brandy(she doesn’t know what she’s missing :-P). Overall, an amazing dining experience. Great people, seemingly not overrun with tourists, and fantastic food. I’d recommend someone order one of the soufflés in your party because they are so amazing. This place has it and I’ll be back the next time I’m in Paris. Such a fun experience!

Rustic country dishes which make you feel like you are hundreds of miles from Paris. Roasted squid appetizer was world class along side the bacon, egg and mushroom starter. The Specialite du Maison is the coq au vin with fresh morels. Simple, yet tasty, the Grand Marnier soufflé was the true highlight of the meal, incredible Bourgogne wine list with many bottles costing 4 digits. A memorable meal in a memorable settingl in a genuine historical spot. Would go back to try many other fine dishes. Helpful staff. English menus. Delightful evenings

Bonne chance !

Brought our 2 kids here on a reccomendtion from our concierge, he was spot on. The puff pastry with sweetbreads and mushrooms was out of this world, and the orange duck was also money. The children(5&7) enjoyed the bread, chicken, and frites. Everyone freaked out on the grand marnier souflee at the end! The waiters are funny and patient with our shabby French.

What we had was the coq au vins, cheese soufflé and chocolate soufflé. Both souffles were great, puffy, light and very flavorful. The service was great and I’d definately go back, but as the other reviews stated its alot of food. The stand out moment is when the chocolate soufflé was served. The waiter had us make a hole in the top, he then drops down 3 chocolate truffles. Then pours alcohol all over and sets it on fire… cool flambé . The only reason I didn’t give this place a higher score was because of the coq au vins. It was a bit try and didn’t taste fresh, it was probably stewing for quite some time and tasted a bit tough and dry.

Yery good restaurant, and open Sundays. Lyonnaise dishes done very well. Souffles as a starter, main plat or dessert are not to be missed. All served in a very pleasant, convivial surroundings although somewhat noisy and crowded. Waiters are smiling and trying hard to make the meal enjoyable. In practice, service ranged from excellent to spotty. Over all a very good and enjoyable restaurant and which I recommend. Also, it is open Sundays, which is a great plus. Do not ever go for dinner without a reservation

On my recent visit to Paris this restaurant was recommended for typical french food. First time I had pâté followed by duck a l’orange as I am not that adventurous. The pâté came with onion marmalade which was fine. The duck came with straw potatoes. The duck was plentiful and tasty but the straw potatoes were neither potatoes or chips they had little taste. I started with a gin and tonic £13! My food plus half a bottle of red wine plus my g and t was £63. So quite expensive but then Paris is expensive and the pound is down at the moment. Next night I had organic Salmon which was a place of small halved potatoes in a buttery sauce and you got a bowl of salmon soaked in olive oil. The salmon was plentiful and tasted good but quite a lot for a starter. Main course I had chicken in a cheesy sauce with chips. There were enough chips for 4 people and the chicken was tasty. With my g and t plus a half bottle plus coffee £73. My only complaint was the service. It was rushed and disorganised on the second visit. My g and t arrived with the starter. The bread arrived by the end of the starter. I didnt go back a third time because of the service and the expense but if you want decent french food thats probably as good as any. My tip is do not drink alcohol in Paris its very expensive.
