Le Petit Vendôme is a great place for a delicious, no-fuss lunch. It is easy to find on the walk between the Tuileries Garden and Place de l’Opera. It’s a very busy place for lunch, with office workers lined up for sandwiches by the front door and tables packed with men in suits, couples, and nicely dressed ladies. We had wine, escargot and confit du canard(duck). Our waitress was attentive and friendly. She made us feel truly welcome. In a restaurant as busy as Le Petit Vendôme, we noticed that no diners are hurried and, like us, they all seemed to really enjoy their time.

Le Petit Vendome will have given me one of the most memorable food experiences of my life and it’s not because the food was amazing, which it was, but rather it was for a different reason. Now, hear me out… the food and service at Le Petit Vendome is amazing, but what makes it so amazing? It’s the fact that it is truly authentic French food, and part of this authenticity is getting food that you may or may not be so familiar with, which was the case with me. Being over-zealous I decided to try this Andoillete, also called Chitterlings, plate which the owner of the restaurant had cited as «different»…but how different was unbeknownst to me until I bit into it and tasted something resembling… poop??? It turns out that Andoillete is actually a sausage filled with stomach lining, intestines and sometimes the colon of a cow… that was different alright. I can’t say that I ate it as I was not prepared to eat something that smelled and tasted like actual shit; this meal has now been coined Shitterlings, not Chitterlings. Regardless of all this, the owner was extremely gracious and more than willing to switch out my plate for something else with no additional cost to me. Besides this unforgettable experience, all the additional food here was phenomenal and fairly priced as well. Between my fiancé and I we ordered a slab of Roquefort cheese to spread on our bread, escargot, a French onion soup, the veal steak with sautéed mushrooms and potatoes, the duck confit(in place of the Andoillete), and then some beer to wash all this down with. Although the Roquefort cheese was strong as could be, it was very good and given in a generous proportion. The escargot was perfect with the right amount of garlic and olive oil lathered all over them. The veal entrée was mouth-watering; the veal was thin, but perfectly cooked and the mushrooms and potatoes were some of the best I’d ever tasted. The duck confit was very, very good with the meat peeling so easily off of the bone. I thought the duck was juicy as could be and when eaten in combination with the potatoes: the«yum» factor was quite high. Obviously, I had zero complaints about the food and I had absolutely no complaints about the service either. The owner of the restaurant continuously came over and checked on on while carrying on a conversation about good olé Chi-town, and all of this was after I caused a raucous about the Andoillete. Now, the service was very good, but it took quite a while for our food to be prepared and brought to us; don’t let that mislead you into thinking the service is bad. As my fiancé had told me, it takes much longer to eat out in Europe and frankly I enjoyed the longevity of our experience here as it allowed us to sit, enjoy our alcohol and have a good conversation while enjoying the Parisian night out on the patio. The timing of the food was perfect, in my opinion, because it allowed us to savor each thing we ordered without having to rapidly stuff our faces before our next plate came out. With all the food that we did order, the bill was actually pretty fair, only around 60 or some euros. You should definitely wander into this little gem if you’re looking for great food, a quaint and relaxing place to eat while enjoying Paris at night, and looking to get the most for your money. Finally: Le Petit Vendome closes for a while between lunch and dinner so if you want to eat dinner there you will have to wait until 7PM when their kitchen re-opens; otherwise, you can wander in there for a drinks between 4 and 7, but that’s it. Also, if you want to be a brave one and try the Andoillete then I guess this is the place to go. If you are this brave then I wish you the best of luck as it is not for the faint of heart.

We arrived on a Saturday at 11:30am to take out a couple of sandwiches. We were invited to sit at the small counter which we gladly did. For the same takeout price we enjoyed our sandwiches and a glass of wine(we ate half and took half with us) which was great, as expected! I inquired about their escargot and was told the kitchen opened at noon so we enjoyed 6 escargot at the counter as well. By the time we left the room was filling with lunch time diners. We’ll be back as everything looked delicious!

We were looking for a cozy restaurant to have dinner and luckily came across Le Petite Vendome behind our hotel. The casual atmosphere was welcoming. Bottle of wine was affordable. Plus, our waitress spoke English well! This led to an order of their homemade pâté, a very generous serving, especially with all the bread. Then a hearty stew of simply meat, potatoes and some fresh herbs. It was delicious as is! No unnecessary celery and what not if you google any stew recipe in the States. The meal warmed us up and was quite filling. Couple days later I was reading David Levovitz blog for his favorite places in Paris and came across a post about his first ham and cheese baguette. It was from this very place! I immediately went back for the next morning and got just that. Apparently they’re known for their charcuterie and sandwiches. We carried the sandwiches through our walk around the city and when we found a good picnic spot, enjoyed it just as much as David!

Sadly this was one time I thought other reviews were not on point. More specifically if I was to do it all over again, skip the sit-down service, and go for the sandwiches. You will save a lot of money and probably have a better experience. I got the homemade sausage and while I’m up to speed with French cuisine this was too on the rustic side for me. But good news, the fries really are great! I also tried the duck confit and it was dry. Given this was lunch time, it would be odd that a confit would be dry. Sadly, this was the most money I spent on a meal while on this Paris visit, and it was by far my least favorite. But do try the sandwiches, they looked really good and I feel would rate higher than my experience.

Le Petit Vendôme is easy to find on the walk between the Tuileries Garden and Place de l’Opera. It’s a busy place for lunch with working men in florescent yellow vests, office workers, couples, and ladies in fashionable suits. We had wine and a selection of charcuterie. Every meal we saw on nearby tables looked delicious. On our next visit, we plan to point to another patron’s plate and ask the waitress for the same. Our waitress was attentive and very friendly. In a restaurant as busy as Le Petit Vendôme, we noticed that no diners are hurried. We felt very welcome.

It took two times and a reservation to get a seat in this small gem. I guess it was the festival of beaujolais, so the place was packed. Delicious 3 course prix fixe with options. Charcuterie board, pork and eggs, pork shoulder, salmon and a rum cake for two. It was worth the wait and visits. The staff was extremely pleasant and attentive. Make sure to make the reservation.

Right around the corner from Park Hyatt we stayed at. We tried to go there do lunch and couldn’t get a table. We asked our concierge to make a reservation for dinner and was able to get 6:40 reservation(their kitchen opens at 6:30 for dinner). They offered a prefix menu which includes wine, appetizer, entrée and dessert. Everything they served was good and I was happy to try things I wouldn’t get normally. Their egg appetizer came in mysterious but delicious dark sauce. Both salmon and pork entrée were excellent. The restaurant had a good mix of locals and tourists and the server spoke English very well.

Magnifique! Best French onion soup I’ve ever had. The wine selection is good as well as the cheese and charcuterie. We got a red wine from Bordeaux, the soup, some hard cheese, and the rib steak(medium), champagne and chocolate mousse for dessert. All of it was delicious, and our waitress was very charismatic and friendly. Her English was excellent, not that we needed her to bend to our mother language. The steak we had was very fatty but full of flavor. The fries were not very salted and tasted just like roasted potatoes(that looked like fries). The soup was out of this world amazing! Delicious. Wanted two bowls all to myself. The hard cheese was very very good and I devoured it. The wine was great, per usual, and we got a carafe. The chocolate mousse was one of my favorite parts of this meal(other than the soup). We split everything and the bill was around 68 euros. There was a mix of French patrons and tourists.

I have been fortunate enough to eat lunch at Le Petit Vendome twice, and both times what made me feel so good was not only the food, but the«realness» of the experience. This isn’t a tourist trap. This is where the working Frenchman comes for lunch. I recommend sitting at the counter, where you won’t miss a thing. You’ll find the typical wine and hard boiled eggs on the counter, and quite a show going on right in front of you. Le Petit Vendome is a very busy place. «The best baguette in Paris,» said a Parisian man to us, obviously one of the many regulars. When I see Parisians getting happy over one of their restaurants, then I know I’ve found a gem.

I am in Paris and stop by over this sandwich shop after reading the reviews. Everything was in French and no pictures. As we walked up the counter she gave us a sandwich menu in English. However that was not what we wanted. We wanted to tried some of the local dishes but was never given an opportunity. Anyhow the banquet not much to raved over.

This sandwich shop/brasserie is quite the unusual find in the Opéra district. I mean, it’s the kind of place you expect to be run by a single family, with dad in the back cooking, mom at the counter, and the kids waiting tables. However, if you’ve ever been to Paris, you know that this part of town is more akin to 5th ave meets the financial district than anything else, so to find a place this homey feeling with food this good? Like I said it was unexpected, but not at all unwelcome. After walking what I truly believe was every street in Paris, we found ourselves both tired and by the Vendome. Now I’m not complaining about my walk; some of my favorite cobble stones to traverse can be found in the streets and alleys that make up Pari after all, but these jaunts do tend to leave you with the feeling that you could eat a charcuterie plate(or two). Luckily enough we found ourselves by a place I had read about, and been really wanting to try. Le Petit Vendome is known as a really good sandwich shop, and I was absolutely in the mood for thon on a baguette with a side of frites and a beer. Walking up to the quaint café, there was a bit of a line to get a sandwich(as any good shop in Paris would have), so I thought we may as well have a seat and eat in. What I was unaware of is that this restaurant does not serve sandwiches in house, they are for takeaway only, which left me almost wanting to get in line and eat by the river(like I said, this place is known as a sandwich shop after all). My tired feet and girlfriend(equally as tired) were not having that, so I settled in for a lunch at a place that is well known for its awesome sandwiches, to NOT have one. Overjoyed, I perused the menu looking for something that would take my thoughts away from my thon on bread. I saw that the special of the day was homemade sausage with potatoes and couldn’t resist(I am well known for loving hot sausage in my mouth. wait no, that came out wrong). When it came I was shocked about how amazingly well made the dish was; Paris is known as an amazing place to eat, but it’s remarkably easy to find bad food if you chose the wrong spot. We had been lucky so far on this trip, not striking out too bad with any place we picked for a meal, but none came close to the quality at Le Petit Vendome. It was truly one of the best meals I’ve had anywhere, and would absolutely recommend coming here for lunch(don’t try for dinner, they close super early). The server bantered with us, we spoke to a few locals(including one portly gentleman who clearly ate here every day, which I completely understand and commend him for), and watched the world go by from an outdoor table of a French café. Honestly what could be better than that? If you find yourself hungry in Paris, and are anywhere even remotely close to this restaurant during lunch hours come here(if you get a sandwich, especially tuna, please DM how it was; my guess is outstanding).

And on our third day we found Le Petit Vendome. Thank goodness. We had fallen into a few not so spectacular meals on the days prior but this place? Melt in your mouth, heavenly delicious, you want to return day after day type of food. My boyfriend and I took Paris by storm. We walked as much as our bodies could handle and that built up quite the appetite most days. By late afternoon, we were ravenous and needed food but we were just north of the Tuileries Garden. Shopping district with an eye on high fashion and big wallets. What on earth would we find there? Thankfully, my main man remembered seeing this and checked his bookmarks. We arrived and took the last outside table. It was right next to a very large gentleman that clearly loved the food enough to hang out, slowly drinking a bottle of wine, eating course after course of food(he had a giant cheese and meat plate, soup then main course all in the time we were enjoying our meal. All looked delicious by the way). Our amazingly friendly, barely english speaking server informed us that sandwiches were only available for take away so we had to buckle down for a meal instead. I needed to have a good steak frites. I had been so disappointed the night prior. Fatty grey cut with frozen french fries? Unacceptable. By then this plate came out. Medium rare means medium rare. The outside was a beautiful brown while the center was still deliciously red and juicy. The fries were freshly cut from real potatoes. everything was seasoned simply and magnificently. From first bite to the last, I was completely enthralled with my meal. The guy was adventurous and ordered the special. Sausage of unknown animal and mashed potatoes. Turns out it was pork and it was amazing. We ended our meal with a coffee and relaxed watching the world go by. After a very busy morning wandering around the city, lunch was perfect. I strongly recommend heading here for food while in Paris. Everything I saw looked amazing and like it was a recipe that has been cooked for decades. Everything was simple, but elegantly satisfying.

Tucked in here for a quick dinner before they closed. I was really impressed. The fare isn’t fancy, but it’s executed so well. The sirloin steak was cooked perfectly. Frites, also perfect. Enjoyed some beaujolais nouveau as a novelty: it’s something you can’t get in the U.S. unless it’s Thanksgiving. Great meal. The waitress beared with me as I mangled French phrases and switched back and forth from English, which I really appreciated. She, and all of the wait staff, were quite pleasant — a strong contrast to the typical European aloofness in service I got in the Benelux. Not that I expected any more in France. The two Euro designation(€€) is in stark contrast to the shops(IWC Schaffhausen, Tiffany, Bulgari, LV) on the adjacent streets. Frequented by locals. Definitely check this place out if you are in the neighborhood.

Been in Paris for three days and FINALLY enjoyed exquisite French fare. The rump steak was 10x more tender than the ribeye I had yesterday at another«tourist» trap that somehow received 4.5 stars. Huh? The scallopini Normandie was rich with succulent mushrooms and new potatoes. The poulet was as expected, delicious. Like home cooked meal with local ingredients. Was crowded with a mix of locals and tourists, a good sign. Only downer was lack of AC, but that just added to the localized feel. Definitely pay this place a visit. You won’t be disappointed.

No English! Ordered whatever she recommended and came out with baguette with meat and cheese for both. We wanted to try the baguettes in Paris. We think we got the jambonneau admons frais which was listed as 5.60 euros. Got tap water but not sure what we are charged. 16 euros for both. Nothing on menu says comes close to that. Also had a bit of adventure because our chip credit card got declined? Had to go to nearby ATM.
