A small restaurant in a very up and coming bistrot area, Les Rillettes delights with a small, welcoming interior and delicious food over multiple courses.

This place is great — a nice little gem up by Montmartre. It’s tiny — maybe 20 seats inside with a few tables outside if the weather is nice. The staff is small — I met the chef and the host/waiter/sommelier handled the place really well. I stopped by the Rocketship boutique/café across the street and the owners couldn’t stop singing the praises of Les Rillettes — I had planned to check it out anyway. I had the burger — probably the best burger I’ve had in my entire life. So, so, delicious. It came with potatoes and greens(both of which weren’t amazing, but the burger made up for it). I had a great glass of wine, per the sommelier’s suggestion. If you can, you should definitely check this place out. It’s small enough that they really care about what they’re serving and how they do it, the space is intimate and smartly decorated(doesn’t feel cramped because of the high ceiling), and the vibe is laid-back but professional. 5 Stars.

Five stars from everyone, so pretty flawless. Untill i came here. The restaurant looks really nice, fits maybe 15 people and you can see the chef from your table. The small size makes it a bit strange, no one was talking, afraid to be heard and there was no music. Let’s move to the food, i had oefs cocotte, a local specialty, not really meant for me, but probably good if you like it. Then as a main the steak tartare, allright with the good seasoning, but not spectacular, which I had expected as the place is not cheap. The dessert was really good, fig cake with a berry sauce. The wine to go with the meal was good. Alltogether I was not blow away and the prices were a bit high for the quality. Maybe I took the wrong thing, but there are to many nice places in Paris I still need to visit, before I give this one another try.

It’s been too long since my last review. Also too long since my last visit to a true neighborhood French restaurant in Paris. The husband and wife owners, chefs, wait staff were extremely welcoming, even forgiving my virtually non-existent French. Pop came out to my outside table to help explain the menu in impeccable English and Mom suggested a marvelous Philippe Viret Syrah which she artfully decanted. So far, an excellent experience. The menu, while not extensive is exquisite and obviously seasonal. As a starter I selected the poached eggs with fresh mushrooms and butter topped with foie gras. Heavenly. The explanation of the preparation is beyond my culinary vocabulary, but ask the chef, you’ll be impressed. For the main course I chose a classic… Supreme du polet; a dish that I make a humble version of at home. To say this dish is elevated is an understatement. The addition of the head-on shrimp was exquisite. The sauce was beautifully light. Served with creamy potatoes, trumpet mushrooms and sweet roasted cherry tomatoes the entire experience was superb. Unfortunately I left no room for desert. Highly recommended for food, wine and service.

A brief placeholder review for now. This review is based on food, atmosphere, and value. If you want a 3-star Michelin haute cuisine experience, and you’re ready to pay $ 200+ per person, this is not your choice. But if you want a small, authentic, mom-and-pop French spot with really nice(romantic, if that’s your choice) ambiance, and solid wines that’s quite affordable… you can’t go wrong with this spot. It’s worth going out of your way to find. The neighborhood is rather random Pigalle, but don’t be dissuaded: this is a very, very comfortable little place that aims to please. No attitude. The menu has two basic groups of choices after starters:(1) classic French dishes like cassoulet and(2) «hamburger”-inspired creations of the chef. I opted for the former(twice), but I saw the latter and was visually quite impressed. The starters and cheeses that I tried were superb. The wine list is brief, but I had my best Cote de Rhone in Paris there, and it seven Euro or less per glass. Prices for main course are in the 16 — 22 Euro range, which is between the two and three E category here on Unilocal.Wine is 5 – 8 Euro/glass, and there are also bottles that are reasonably priced. The same prices you’d pay at generic brasseries, but a huge upgrade in quality and atmosphere. Just go, and have no worries. Mom speaks limited English, but Pop(the Chef) can help out. You won’t be disappointed! There is not a «full bar,» but there are some select whiskeys and the like along with good wine and(I think) some bottled beers. On the dessert side, they introduced to me to a delightful cherry-flavored«Maurin.» More on that later…

This restaurant was right around the corner from the hotel we were staying at and is closest to the St. Georges metro stop in Montmartre. They served a prix fixe dinner that was truly amazing, traditional French fare with excellent service in a charming neighborhood. It is owned by a couple that was very friendly and really strove to create an exceptional experience. They seem to pay close attention to what is currently in season and change the menu quite frequently to reflect that. Each part of the meal was carefully prepared and quite memorable. If you are looking for a nice, quiet place for dinner with excellent food away from the crowds and noise, I highly recommend a visit. It appears that they do take reservations, but we were able to walk in mid-week and get seated.
