When I arrived, the sushi bar was only half seated with a giant crowd of people waiting to be seated. Then about 15 min in, it was all filled at once. If you know anything about working at restaurant, you know this sucks. Massive strain on kitchen as well as a large portion of your seats staying occupied for at least an hour. I saw a group of 4 led to the their seats before being told there was a mistake. A group of 9 was seated instead. A guy from the group even said, «I’m pretty sure they were here first. I’m confused.» the hostess? Server? Rudely said«I’m not confused. If your group is Justin, you sit.» It took me an hour and a half to be seated, despite being a single diner. I pointed out that there were plenty of single seats available, but still wasn’t seated. When I was seated, I had 2 plates of sushi before anyone even asked me my drink order. The food was not worth the wait, despite what the other reviews have said. Especially not for the price. If you’re willing to shell out that much money for that quality sushi, you must not have easy access to good sushi where you live. I will be finding a different sushi joint.

We have never been let down here. Chefs Michi and Hide always hook me and the wife up with a little something we don’t ask for, no matter how busy they are. They probably do that for everyone but it makes us feel special. I can’t stand mayonnaise but that spicy mayo they use is freakin delish. Talking about it makes me want to go. I’ll tell the wife. She never says no, unlike with other things.

The people were nice, but the selection on the carousel was not good. You can order from the chef, which seems to be the preferred method, but is very slow. Not overly impressed. But I’m not sick. So that’s good

One of the worse sushi restaurants ever! I live in Japan so I know what sushi is, and this is not Japanese sushi. I tried to order Toro(fatty tuna), yellow tail, and ebi only to be told they had none available that day. They only had salmon and«standard stuff» like fake crab doused in mayonnaise or tempura rolls. :(The staff were not attentive at all. I had to ask twice for water for my son as well as the menu which was clearly not a comprehensive one because many of the patrons were ordering things that were not on the menu we were given. They had the cooked egg out in the open, uncovered, so hygiene is obviously not high on this restaurant’s priority. If you want good sushi for similar prices, better go across the road to Yokozuna bistro. They had a better selection there, and they didn’t have food out in the open collecting dust.

I’m surprised at the mixed reviews on this place, because wow… such a great place. It is true quality sushi(pricier that your standard«sushi» joint, but most rotaries are and the quality makes it well worth it). This location is nestled into downtown Tamuning right at the Tumon Bay city and shops area. Parking can be difficult and is behind the building mostly. It is intimate and smaller, so getting their earlier is essential, again this is rotary sushi so if you’re wanting a sit down experience go somewhere else; they do have limited table seating as well, but honestly be prepared to sit in the back and not get the full experience. The atmosphere is energetic and traditional to Japanese cuisine. A lot of preparation, hot towels, sake service etc. I highly recommend this place for dates, families, business, and even larger parties if you plan ahead… they really take care of you and it is a memorable meal for all. They are only open for dinner and late night dining which also plays a factor in the busy feel of seating and eating. The sushi itself was outstanding, and even the basics were done better than most places I’ve been to. The head sushi chef has been on Guam and working for rotary for over 10 years and his attention to detail is phenomenal. In addition to their sushi/sashimi the hot soups, fried fish, and salads are also worth ordering and trying out, their non-seafood menu is limited but the fried chicken wings are a great option for non-sushi enthusiasts tagging along. The plates that I enjoyed most are the sashimi scallops and their futomaki sushi green mussels… oh man… I am still thinking about those and wish I wasn’t on the other side of the world… It’s that good… most locals on the island will tell you this is the best or one of the best spots for sushi. Seriously, if you are in Guam or not, you should make your way to this little spot of sushi heaven.

If you choose Yakiniku table seat you can enjoy Yakiniku and Sushi together. Taste is good but little bit expensive. I like Tekkamaki.

Sushi on a conveyor belt! Sweet! Rotary sushi is a cool little spot in lower tumon, there was a line of about 10 people waiting for it to open 2 weeks ago, good sign. You can request personal sushi plates be prepared for you, the chefs here were fast and skilled. Or you can just wait for appealing things roll past you, which is what I did. The simplest sashimi plates, tuna and salmon, were my favorite. The more elaborate rolls and dishes seemed to always have to much mayonnaise in them. Me and my roommate(girl friend) had 17 plates between us and the total bill was 93 bucks, not bad, had this place be a mile more inland it might have been 79 bucks. Either way I went home full and satisfied. The green tea was really good. Recommend this place to everyone who likes sushi.

I was in Guam last DEC after being in Japan. I had the pleasure of going to a couple of very good Rotary Sushi places in Japan. So while I was in Guan was excited to see a Rotary. The service was good as far as getting seated and drinks. Getting special order items was slow as you had to get the attention of the Chef and tell what you wanted. Despite being busy their was only 1 Chef. This was my only complaint. Everything I had was very tasty and support fresh. The tuna Sashimi was some of the best I ever had. The price is much higher than Japan so that was different. One thing to note the quality is very good so I was OK with the cost. I would recommend this Rotary to anyone passing through Guam. Very nice food and pretty authentic.

We went on a Friday night, the service was friendly and attentive. You don’t know what you are paying, unless you ask about each plate you pull. I ordered some things from the chef — Unagi, Spicy Tuna hand roll, and Uni. I would never order any of them again. Uangi tasted funky, Spicy Tuna roll was small and unattractive an the UNI was so old it looked — well I won’t say what it looked like. If you just want a snack and don’t want anything to authentic, then I would go back. Otherwise, life is too short for not excellent sushi. If they improved the quality of all of the fish and posted prices, it would be a huge improvement!

This used to be our family’s go-to place for Sushi. We used to go a couple of times a month, but as other reviewers noted, this place is pricey and the prices seem to be climbing. Easy for a family of four to spend at least $ 100. As other sushi restaurants have begun to pop up, we are dining here less. On another note, this place gets very crowded, expect a long wait on a Friday or Saturday night. For a place that stays pretty busy, I’m surprised the owners have not invested in updating the restaurant. It looks and feels old, and not in a good way. It’s as if they have done no repairs or remodeling since they’ve opened, which I’m sure has been at least twenty years. All in all, a good place to eat if your budget will allow.

This restaurant is just okay. The first thing I noticed about the food was that the rice tastes old and mushy. For me, a key component of preparing delicious sushi is integrating fresh rice. Contrary to other reviews, the fish served on the night I went did not taste fresh either. Edaname was bland and had many dirt/brown spots. Seared tuna was a strange temperature, but decently flavored. The décor is kinda charming with its unique set up and vintage flare — but, the dishes and glasses looked like they had seen their fair share of use. This was unappealing and made me feel like the restaurant was not clean, which is huge in my book. I would pass the next time I’m craving sushi… its OK, hence the 3 stars, but there are definitely better sushi restaurants, e.g. Kai or En Japanese Restaurant.

Best sushi ever. Hands-down. I am not too cheap to suggest that it is too expensive for what it serves, because it really isn’t. My fav chef Hide-san always makes an effort to talk to me no matter how crowded it is, and every person I’ve brought there(roughly 20, give or take) has loved it. Go on days when you can splurge and bring just one or two friends, this is the sushi spot that all the non-cheapo locals go(otherwise, go to Sakura’s kitchen if you’re a cheapo) and I go every year for my birthday dinner. As compared to the great sushi spots in San Diego, it can still hold it’s own for creativity because I never saw a bbq sushi anything at the places I tried in San Diego and LA, and I looked hard. My favorites are actually some of the cheapest but yummiest(spicy bbq mussel, bbq salmon handroll) but I’ve tried many of the dishes(the eel, California roll, tempura handroll, and karaage are yum too) and sometimes the chef gives me a new dish to try before it’s on the menu and it doesn’t disappoint. I originally didn’t want to write this review to keep it a secret, but with all the cheap people making it 3 – 4 stars I got annoyed. I’ve tried Sushi Ebisu, Sushi Rock, Sakura’s Kitchen, Benni, En, Aji-Ichi and one other place in Tumon which I’ve forgotten. And I’d still pay a little more to get the value I get at rotary every time.

To start the sushi is really good, so why 3 stars that is because the prices are way to expense for what you get the cheapest price is $ 5.75 for two pieces of sushi way to expense for a rotary diner sushi place and the menu has all the wrong prices on them to add to the confusion on what you are paying so ask the wait staff they will tell you what the correct prices are. I really wanted to like this place because the sushi is good but they are charging high end restaurant prices.

A bit on the pricey side, but if you want the best sushi on island, this is the place to go. It can get a little over crowded at times, sometimes you’ll have to bump elbows with strangers, but the sushi is worth it.

rotary never ever disappoints. the fish is always fresh as the staff is extremely friendly. although I’m not a regular like most of my friends are, the chefs still remember me and give me superior service. this place is a bit pricier than other rotaries I’ve tried on island but it’s definitely worth it. some things to try: lanya hand roll, honey shrimp, and steamed egg to name a few.

A great sushi spot on Guam. The chefs here are so very friendly but not in an intrusive way. I’ll be honest… this is my BF’s favorite restaurant on Guam(maybe even favorite sushi restaurant on the planet) so my experience here is biased since he has been raving about this place since we first met. Regardless of this bias, I had a great meal. Their sushi rolls are enormous so I felt like I got my money’s worth and the fish is fresh. The chefs are also very creative — Unilocal photos can prove this. I can’t wait to come back.
