My father’s favourite pub. It has ALL the beers. If you want to go around the world in 80 beers, this is the place for you. They have them all displayed on the wall and a beer menu too. If you don’t fancy beers, they have a full bar of other drinks. They have a number of beers on tap from different countries and then a HUGE bottle/can selection if you want to try something different. We came here after christmas and it had a great vibe, very fun and friendly. The bathrooms aren’t the best but the atmosphere more than makes up for it.

Quick note — this place has changed its name! Huge portions, good value, lovely service, and a huge beer selection. I wasn’t so impressed by my main(I had the currywurst). The starters were great though — we ordered a full plate of buffalo wings. I can recommend those! You can get the sauce separate, so if you’re not as into buffalo sauce, you don’t need to eat it! I’d definitely come back if I’m in the area!

This is a great bar with a great selection of beers as long as you can put up with staff that seems put out and uninterested. I have been here on a few occasions and find the bartenders to be below par. It takes more then a good knowledge of beer to be a good bartender, especially in a bar that prides itself on a great beer selection.

Good selection of craft beers. I had a warm chicken salad which was quite good and my wife had fish and chips which she liked as well. It was a little warm due to the unusually hot weather but they don’t have AC(cause normally why would they need it!). I would definitely go there again. It was a cool atmosphere right on the quay!

I came on here to write a review but I have to say Lisa O took the words right out of my mouth. Her review is exactly what I think of it. I will add that going in at 9 on a sat night was not the best idea as most space had been taken, so we huddled at the door. It wasn’t long though until some people moved out, others took their space and gave us the rejected space. Like a big game of musical chairs! They do do beer and pizza deals… That will be the pizza they order in from a local pizzeria. There doesn’t seem to be many pubs that do food in cork. Anyway, well worth a look in.

It’s a little cramped in here but a great spot for weekend drinks. The last time I was in here, the place was busy and full of singsongs(possible because the Eurovision was on). They have a great selection of beers and interesting adornments on the walls.

A wonderful little place. It looks a little like a Dive Bar but it is far from it. The number of beers available is amazing. It reminds me a little of Toronado in San Francisco. Small, cramped, looks like a dive but is a haven for beer lovers. The atmosphere is amazing. I could be wrong but I don’t recall a TV or over loud music so it is all about appreciating good Beer and talk.

a little gem of a bar, huge beer selection that changes all the time, can bring decent pizza in from next door… good place to sample the foreign beers!

Nice little pub with local brews. They have many different beers on tap that you will not get in many places in cork. Nice relaxing atmosphere and reasonable prices. The pub is a bit small so if you want a table to to get there early or get ready to stand for the night

BIERHAUS Looking for a new beer experience? Then you could do worse than consider the Bierhaus on Pope’s Quay as your first stop. They say, and it certainly looks like when you sit in the bar and look at the many boards and notices around the place, that they have over 70 beers from home and abroad to choose from, including Krombacher, Galway Hooker, O’Hara’s Stout, Rebel Red and Hoegaarden and also a special guest draft beer each month. I was there last evening and went for a Czech lager called Staropramen(Star of Spring), brewed in Prague since 1871 and exported to dozens of countries. Enjoyed my full bodied pleasant pint, even though the bar was quite cold. Oh, by the way, if you are not into trying out new beers and you are dragged along by your buddies, don’t worry as the Bierhaus does carry local favourites such as Murphy, Guinness and Heineken.

Okay, just a word o’ warning … I’m usually a bit tiddly when I’m at the Bierhaus but I really have a great time there. Don’t bring a snooty attitude though — the only snobbery they allow is for good beer! Quiz night on Monday’s with Tony«The Trekker» Soprano plus poker nights with good music and truly professional barkeeps. Can’t miss!
