Cork, in January, was wet and dreary, but lunch at the Flying Enterprise was warm and pleasant. Took my daughter and her roommate there, and we had good food at great prices, served by a cheery waitress(who claimed to speak English). Among the three of us, we had soup of the day, pasta, and chicken dishes… all were great. We were seated in the«cabin» area, in the back, in a cozy booth that was very comfortable and private. Service was excellent, the food was quite tasty, and the entire experience was well worth our time. And if you are interested in maritime history, the décor and the story behind«The Flying Enterprise» pub and restaurant by itself is worth a visit. The pub is a shrine to the SS Flying Enterprise, a small C-1 design cargo ship built in California in 1944, which sank in January 1953 after suffering damage in a storm. Once damaged, and after her cargo shifted causing the ship to list to port, she fought to stay afloat for more than two weeks before reluctantly slipping beneath the waves off the coast of Cornwall. Read the Wikipedia article before you lunch or dine at the pub– you’ll enjoy the atmosphere so much more.

This place is right downstairs from my friends apartment. The food is delicious, the beer selection is great. The prices are also good. I especially like that you can go outside and sit in loungey type chairs and just relax. I bet it is really nice in the warm weather. There is a large covered area, which is perfect for the rainy Irish days! The Pizza was delicious as well.

As StarTrek fan I had to set foot into The Flying Enterprise, the enterior is been beautifully decorated with pictures of the sailing ship Enterprise, the restaurant itself looks like the interior of a huge old sailing ship. The staff is not decorated as pirates, but they are fast and friendly. The menu is not typical Irish, it is very good continental food. I had a salmon filet with white sauce, potatoes and veggies, with a glass of white wine. The desert was fantastic as well, as final, I had an Espresso. The early bird menu is under 18 Euro, beverages exclusive. I am really convinced and I certainly will return.
