Food is pretty good and the ambiance is really nice. So why two stars from such a liberal reviewer you may ask? Here’s why: the service is a horrorshow. Let me bore you with some details: it was really busy when we were there for brunch and the waitresses seemed run off their feet. The manager came in to help, or so I thought, and was floating around folding napkins or with some other pointless distraction while customers were waiting to be served. The waitresses didn’t exactly seem experienced and made irritated faces and clipped responses when we’d remind them politely about orders they forgot or got wrong. Because we’re fussy yanks, what could have been a 20% tip on a € 200 bill ended up being zero. I mention this in the vain hope that the ditsy manager will be a little more involved in running the restaurant if she reads this. Ironically enough the service from the volunteers in the upstairs charity shop is way better and you get to effectively choose from the same menu. My advice: go upstairs, order a scone, buy a second hand book and stare out at Dublin Bay.

Lovely location– just across from bull island bridge. Parking is limited– but doesn’t put you off. Pâté is great as a starter and the risotto is a little salty but still yum! Service is great and the early bird has a complimentary glass of prosecco which was a nice added treat. There is a great buzz about the place, the customers seems to range from young to old too, which is great to see. :) Will go back frequently!

Now, its been several months since I was here, but just had to put my two cents in, because I’ll probably never eat there again, and if I do it will be out of politeness to the person who might invite me along. We went as a group for a family birthday dinner. Service was ok, but nothing spectacular. I found the menu quite limited as the night we were there, they had a lot of fish/seafood dishes on. I had soup for a starter, and I ate it. My main was chicken and I didn’t finish it as it wasn’t particularly nice. I didn’t find it particularly comfortable, as we were pushed up against a wall, and some poor souls had to sit with their backs to the roaring fireplace 1 foot behind them. They were baking. I think they really could have arranged the seating better, and I always get annoyed when places take a large booking, but yet can’t manage to comfortably fit everyone in. I couldn’t wait to leave.

Disappointing. Lunch for 3 on Friday 28−6−13. ‘Medium rare’ steak came out terribly overcooked, as did the burgers my companions ordered. No-one asked us whether we enjoyed our meal, otherwise we’d have told them. An altercation with the surly shopkeeper next door who didn’t like us using his private parking space(the ‘huge sign’ we hadn’t noticed turned out to be A4-sized in a shop window) didn’t add to our enjoyment. Lack of convenient nearby parking is quite a drawback for this place, but the biggest drawback of all was the stomach upset suffered by one of my companions afterward. We won’t be back.

This newly opened restaurant is always a great place for food. The food is really delicious but a little on the pricey side. They do donate some proceeds of their profits to CARA charity though. It tends to be quite busy so make sure to make an appointment. The menu is extensive, covering everything from soup to steaks and fish. The dinner menu is a good bit more expensive than the lunch, but well worth the price. Would recommend this restaurant. Very little parking around the back and out front though but it has a bus stop right outside.
