Great Italian Food in Dublin Temple Bar area. Service was great. Nice quite place for dinner.

Ice cream is very plain, and way to expensive(it doesn’t feel italian at all). The general feeling is the usual«turist trap». I went only to the«Ice Cream Shop» with two friends and we spent few minutes inside: enough to see that the place is quite popular, but every single person was a turist(I haven’t seen any local…). If you buy an ice cream, and you want to use the toilet, you have to get into the restaurant(next door), and explain to the waiter that you are an «ice cream customer» in order to use the toilet… Avoid it if you can.

5-stars for their delicious gelato, which is available even late(though many flavors will have run out by the time you get there if you wait until the witching hours, hehe.) We got the chocolate mint and it was melt-in-your-mouth delectable. It’s 2.50 Euro for a small cup, which I shared with the manfriend and found more than sufficient. Didn’t get a chance to eat in the actual restaurant but the menu actually looked pretty appealing. There aren’t too many Italian joints that we saw right in this area, so it’s definitely got that going for it. Just make sure to get some gelato for dessert! Bellisimo!

I found the service here rushed and not very friendly. I got the Ameretto ice-cream which was nice, a small cone was € 2.50. The selection of ice cream is not that large considering it sells itself as a gelateria(I was really hoping for pistachio, but they had none).

Much more than I expected for a restaurant in temple bar, genuine Italian food and a great selection of wine. The atmosphere was romantic, and the service was attentive and friendly. Would recommend the hazelnut ice cream!

It’s been about 8.5 years since I’ve been to Ireland, and I still remember this place! In the month I was there, my family and I went here to get gelatos at least once a week. Never having anything else on the menu, I’m strictly reviewing the gelatos. We traveled all over Ireland, so the fact we returned so many times is a great sign. All 5 of us never had a problem finding something we liked, and we all have different tastes. I can’t give it a 5 only because I’ve had the pleasure of going to Italy and experiencing gelatos there. I can’t say this place is the best I’ve ever had, but it’s still great! I also enjoyed walking through the parts of the Temple Bar area to get there… street lights and street performers, live music, and the River Liffy made for some great places to enjoy our treats.

Botticelli was listed in one of the travel guides that I picked up before leaving for Dublin. It was very close to our hotel and we were hungry and jet lagged etc. I thought it was a bit impersonal as we were just pointed to a table as we walked in instead of being warmly greeted. The women having lunch next to us sent back their soup and their entrees because they were cold. That was the only other table that was occupied in the restaurant. The mushroom pizza was ok but my penne arrabiata was not that great. I couldn’t finish it and though I asked for it to be wrapped in a «to go» container, I wound up tossing it in the nearest trash can on the street. The sauce was too thick for me and the seasonings were way off. I also ordered the«suppli» which is kind of like arancini(fried rice balls with mozzarella inside). To be succinct: they were odd looking and odd tasting.

We made a spontaneous stop in here only for the gelato. We haven’t been to Italy, but consensus was that this was the creamiest, best example of gelato we’ve encountered. Superb, and a great way to wrap up the evening here. An unexpected delight!

Lovely Italian place in Temple Bar. We went for both dinner and lunch during our recent visit to Dublin. Both meals were delicious. My favorites were the gorgonzola penne and the pizza Romana. Service was friendly and prices were reasonable.(For example, for lunch I got soup, pizza, and hot tea all for 9.80 from their special lunch menu.)

I was feeling a bit down and a friend said I should have some ice-cream and it will make me feel better. I’m usually a sceptic as I never really see a link between inhaling tubs of Haagen Dazs and an improvement on mood like they usually show tear-streaked girls, post-breakup stuffing their mouths with gallons of ice-cream, in the movies. But my mood did perk up after eating the Spaghetti Ice at Botticelli today. It’s basically two scoops of Vanilla Gelato and a scoop of Fior de Latte put through a spaghetti making instrument that turns your ice-cream out in long, thin noodle-strands, topped with red sauce and sprinkled with white chocolate, it’s just what my sad soul needed. Although eating your ice-cream in thin strands(as opposed to scooped balls) doesn’t necessarily change the texture or the flavour of the dish, it’s still quite wonderful to look at. The bowl shared by two was € 6.50

Botticellis has the potential to earn much more Unilocal stars but it’s just not run properly. I had the raw fillet started which was lovely and a 10oz strip which was cooked perfectly to my taste. My dinner guest had a chicken dish where the fillet looked like it had been cooked my a steam roller. The service was cold and unpersonable(the waitress, rather than saying hello and seating us, just pointed at a table by the wall and walked off. A bit of training or thinking outside the box in this polace would work wonders. Who likes eating somewhere where the staff all look like they’ve had a 15% pay cut? Also it’s far to bright. It serves prroper italian cuisine but doesn’t serve it properly. All they need is a dimmer switch and a few candles and they’d be on to a winner!

Food/Cost:(5) My traveling companion and I stopped by here on a weekday night after a tiring night of sightseeing around Dublin last week. They have a well-priced, early bird deal where you can choose 2 courses for 13.95 euros. If you feel like slightly classier fare, you an choose 2 courses from another menu for 18.95 euros. Both my friend and I opted for the 13.95 menu. I ordered a Side Salad and Fettuccine Pollo e Funghi(13.95 euros for both). The Side Salad was nothing memorable — just a regular Romaine lettuce salad with some cut tomatoes, black olives, shredded carrots, and 2(yes, two) leaves from a mixed green salad. You dressed it yourself with vinegar and olive oil they bring out. I would much rather have gotten a mixed green salad, but I’ll waive that complaint. I tried my friend’s Prosciutto Crostino and it was great. It was like a pizza, but in a slightly different form. I’d definitely recommend the Crostinos here. Next came the main course, the Fettuccine. Now that was delicious. The white wine sauce was very creamy and rich, there was no shortage of mushrooms, and there was just enough chicken though the chicken pieces were cut very small(disclaimer: I typically don’t eat a lot of meat). I cleaned the entire plate of pasta and wished I had some bread to sop up the sauce left on the plate. For 13.95, you can’t do much better. Ambiance:(3.5) Botticelli’s is decorated like a traditional Italian restaurant, but with modern updates. There are soft-solored murals on some of the walls and a bit of a country-sih charm to the place. Still, you won’t find checkered tablecloths here; they use woven placemats to give the place a cleaner, more modern look. This place could be good for a casual date, or for a family outing. It’s casual, yet subtly classy. When you first walk in, there are smaller tables to your right and then a bar area right before you get to the stairs. As you go up the stairs, the restaurant widens out and you see a much larger dining area. The area is divided in 2 with a wall, which I found slightly awkward at first, but may actually work to the restaurant’s benefit as it provides a cozier feel. Location:(5) Located in the happening Temple bar area, Botticelli’s is well situated for a lunches and dinner, for tourists and locals alike. Even at night, the area was bustling, and no one would feel unsafe. Service:(5) Our male waiter was very friendly throughout the meal and came back numerous times to ask us how our meal was going. His smile seemed genuine and added a cheerful mood to the night. He even gave us more candy as we approached the bar area to pay our bill. Overall:(4.5) The prix fixe menu here is very much worth every euro you spend. Further, the laid back, yet subtly classy atmosphere lends itself to a great meal where anyone would feel welcome and taken care of. I’d highly recommend Botticelli — particularly for the Early Bird menu from 5−7pm.

After a couple of hours shopping went in here for the early bird around lunch time. The place wasn’t busy at all which was great. Any other time I’ve gone here for dinner it’s been packed. The early bird is grand, two courses for 13 quid I think with a decent choice of dishes. Service was quick and friendly and the pasta was cooked perfectly. If you want simple, good quality Italian food you can’t really go wrong here. Didn’t get dessert this time but their homemade ice cream is superb as I think other reviewers have mentioned.

Truly, I would like to give this place 3.25 stars… it was good, I had no complaints, but it didn’t stand OUT either. Picked because it was the closest to the pub we were coming out of, I created my own pasta(the gorgonzola and penne pasta with the addition of Salmon) while my friend had a pizza. My pasta was quite rich, which may not have been the best after countless Guinness. The pizza was also really rich, so maybe I just wasn’t in the mood for Italian. Either way, I would go back again if i was in the mood, but would probably stick to something a bit lighter if I was out drinking in the area(and come on… if you’re in Temple on a Saturday night at midnight, what else are you doing… I rest my case).

I like places with Early Bird menus. This place has a choice of two, therefore I like it even more. I went for my Italian staple, pizza. I don’t do creamy carbonara’s so if you are looking for that you shall have to reference the lovely Bridget R’s mouthwatering first review of this place. However, I know pizza, and I know meat. Salami and pepperoni in plentiful but not overbearing quantity on a thin and crispy base and plenty of cheese is my recommendation. Having said that, you don’t go to Botticelli’s for your dinner, that is just a a mere pre-cursor to the visual, nasal and most important tasty feast that is the desert menu. I strayed from the variety of ice-creams here to take the chocolate cake. Am I glad I did? Oh yes, yes, yes, yessss. The sponge, the frosting, the cream, the chocolate cake experience of 2010. I want another one… now.(and I’m not even a major chocolate cake eater!) Had a bit of fun with the window seat facing out onto the quays too, you’d be amazed at how many people will look in as they go past, then scuttle off quickly when you wave to them.

There’s nothing on the menu at Botticelli’s that sets my heart on fire, but get a plate of that rich, deeply cheesey Carbonara in front of me and I’ll still smile. Anchoring the far end of Temple Bar’s row of pubs and restaurants, Botticelli’s uniquely offers dual aspect dining with views of Temple Bar and the Liffey. The menu is traditionally Italian, intensely expensive for its bracket(that Carbonara I mentioned arrives with a € 12.50 sticker) the service is less than attentive, and if it weren’t for that gelato I’d give up on the place entirely. Oh, didn’t I mention the gelato? Creamy, intense and available in a rainbow of flavours, this is ambrosia at its best. After your milquetoast dinner is cleared away, waste no time in ordering your three scoop cup for a pricey(but worth it) € 6. Ask about the day’s flavours, but make sure to get a scoop of the Gianduia(made with NUTELLA) with whatever you choose.

I have a bit on an aversion to much of Temple Bar. All the krusty’s, restaurant promoters, tourists. There’s something just a bit… smug about the place. Boticelli however is the reason I would navigate my way through the buskers and emos for a drop of golden sorbet. This is real Italian ice cream folks. The way it’s meant to be done. On the edge of temple bar sits this treasury of ice cold dairy. On the pricey side, but it’s the best ice cream in Dublin if you ask me. This is a controversial choice, but trust me on this. Get a coffee with a scoop of coffee and a scoop of vanilla(less boring than it sounds) for a fiver. My favourite treat in Dublin.

This place is dangerous. Your life may change forever if you venture inside. You may have to do what I do and cover your eyes every time you walk past or risk getting lured. You may curse that you are not lactose intolerant, I jest I know how awful that affliction is. So these people do ice-cream! I scream when you ice-cream, oh yeah. Love the mint, actually scrap that love it all! Its Italian style ice-cream, as in it’s the best kind and the most addictive kind. Great selection and I can think of nothing better to finish off a lazy city stroll with a scoop of real vanilla, oh heaven.

I like the ice cream here — it’s good. It’s not AMAZING, but it hits the spot nonetheless. You’re not going to feel like you are eating a cone, walking around Rome or anything and I don’t think the ice cream tastes as good as the kind you can get everywhere in Italy, but it’s nice. They also do tea and coffee and a few other desserts too.
