Q Bar

If you are willing to pay the cover free this is such a great spot. Good dance floor and so many kinds of people (Also they make a mean mojito)!

I honestly miss this place. I celebrated Halloween here, plus my friends enjoyed coming here on occasion on the weekends for our late nights when I was living in Ireland in 2008.
It always had really good, strong cocktails. They’re not overpriced, and the service was usually quick about getting your orders out to you. I miss the mix match of this place. I think my favorite part were the playboy bunnies memorabilia that was everywhere and the random American football jerseys they had hanging up. Considering this was in Ireland, I was amused how Americanized it was.
This place was pretty hoppin’ until the wee hours. Primarily a college crowd, it suited me at the time I was there. I’m not sure on how it is really now, but once I return back to Ireland for a visit, I wouldn’t mind checking it out again for old times sake.

me and some friends met in here a few weeks ago just because it was central and handy for everyone to find. although that i must admit was one of the only highlights of this place. The décor is not bad either but other than that, the drink is overpriced, the tension in the place is unreal, it is like something is about to kick off any minute. Judging by the amount of security that stand on the stairs looking over the dancefloor i dont think we are the only people that felt this.
I would not be a big fan of this place. other than being very central it is the only good point i can see.

Q Bar/​Club/​Pub/​Restaurant/​Café is absolutely dreadful. It has no redeeming quality whatsoever. Like the Blue WKD of pubs, if you know what I mean.

Located on D’olier Street by O’Connell Bridge, it is the perfect city centre meeting spot. Having not visited this place in years, I was a bit sceptical when my friend suggested lunch there. My doubt stemmed from the fact that my last time there I was like every typical Dublin 18 year old, drunk and up to no good. So the taught of dining in a place that had all that shenanigans going on at night really didn’t do much to egg on my appetite.
So equipped with my maturity and some embarrassing flash backs I made my way to Q bar. I do admit I was surprised by what I had discovered Q Bar to be in the light of day.
The lunch menu has something to offer everyone. From panini’s or sandwiches (fillings of your choice) to curry’s or roast lunches, all are economically priced, with large portions and tasty!!.
The bar itself is trendy in design but is relatively quite during the day. The after work crowd does bring atmosphere in the evenings as beers and cocktails are cheap. Night time does see the dance floor open up but have not been clubbing here in years so cannot comment on what the atmosphere is like. Definite recommendation for a city centre lunch meet.

I remember a time when Q bar wasn’t as bad as it is now and you could actually have a pretty good night out in here. But thinking about it makes me feel old so I’ll stop right now.
This is not the sort of place you want to go to for a few pints, because unless you’re a bloke you’ll get a lot of funny looks from the staff for ordering beer. The drinks are overpriced though and the music is pretty bad. Q Bar is also pretty confusing because there is a few exits and it’s very easy to lose your group of friends in the dark. The good spots for a night out have moved up to Harcourt Street, so there really is no reason to come here.

Because I work right beside here, it’s a handy spot for lunch, I know better than to go here at night… Think Ibiza uncovered.
I got the soup which was average city price, my work colleagues got sandwiches. They all have big mouths but still could not fit them around the sandwich which resulted in a free fall of contents around their faces and laps, pretty ;)
Yes everyone found it tasty and average value. The staff were pleasant but there was a draft coming in from one of the windows. It’s just not a cosy spot, the interior is very impersonal and cold. Oddly other than us the rest of the lunch clients were tourists and they had a look of bafflement,
‘Is this modern Ireland? I thought green was their favorite colour not neon pink and blue… This is too confusing, I must try to get comfortable in my hyper stylised uncomfortable chair with a Baltic draft blowing against my back.‘
I’d give it a miss.

I couldn’t agree more with the other reviews — Q Bar is a place to be avoided at all costs. It’s tacky, fully of a young/​dodgy crowd and the bouncers have always been nothing but absolute… I shall say ‘rude meanies’ for the sake of being PC.
I too was one of the people who frequented this spot when I was about 18 and I can’t for the life of me figure out why. It’s probably for the location — it’s right between O Connell Bridge, Temple bar, and Trinity College.
If you want a crappy, neon, overpriced tacky bar then go here. But if you have any ounce of taste, avoid like the plague.

Q Bar looks and feels like it is stuck in an 80s time warp when dry ice, all things shiny and demented flashing lights were in vogue.
It’s undeniably trashy but somehow it held a certain appeal for me and my friends as fresh-​faced 19 year olds. Although what that appeal was, I now know not!
The clientele are either quite young or quite dodgy, and sometimes a bit of both (not a great mix admittedly!). It has no discernable atmosphere other than ‘tacky’. I recall sampling cocktails there which weren’t bad though. I’ve also eaten there during the day (why, you may ask) and the menu offers the usual pub grub fare which was certainly edible.
In summation: such an excellent location, such a waste!

Q Bar is permanently dark, lit only by a fluorescent blue light, the kind used in train station restrooms to prevent junkies from shooting up. The lighting only makes the place creepier and from the moment I went in I wanted to get out.
Situated on the river Liffey, it’s a haven for hen parties and tourists. With awful music on the dance floor, it is perfect for the seedy meat market that Irish singles scene has become.
I would not recommend this place to anyone unless they were doing some study on the quays’ sleazy nightlife.

You can’t miss Q Bar if you happen to be on or around the south side of O’Connell Bridge, as after bark it’s front glows with blue UV light. This is probably in an effort to convince people that it is a super cool club, but it makes it look more like the not-​too-​distant future as envisaged in 70s sci-​fi flicks.
Now, I have never been to Q Bar during the day, and therefore cannot comment as to qualities during daylight hours. But at night time, as a night club — it’s pretty pants.
The music they play is pretty useless (but then, this wouldn’t be terribly unusual for Dublin). And I could be wrong on this, but I seem to remember them not having a cloakroom, which is a bit of a pain in the arse. It’s free in on certain nights of the week, which is a plus, but it’s pay in on weekends, which I couldn’t imagine anyone being arsed doing personally, but then it would be a boring world if we were all alike.
And for all it’s illusions of grandeur, Q Bar is chock-​a-​block with scobes generally, particularly at the weekend.
So if partying with swarthy foreign men and chavs in stripey jumpers is your idea of a good time, then by all means be sure to hit up Q Bar. Otherwise, best to give it a miss.

Q Bar is the sort of place which can make a place legendary. A bit more expensive than other places in the area (E7 per pint), they do offer up some delicious martinis.
The club is quite spacious and fills up with a great crowd. The music is typically good, I had a few «I haven’t heard this in ages» moments one night in Q bar.
The peskiest thing, aside from the cost of a drink, is the travellers who incessantly try to sell you things if you step outside from air… but that is location I suppose.

Good music and a good atmosphere. There’s a big selection of cocktails and beers and the prices are fair enough. The bouncers can be quite rude but the great atmoshpere more than makes up for them.
Although frequented more and more by a younger crowd (you’ll find a lot of 18 year olds in there) Qbar is very classy and promises a good night.

El Q Bar esta muy céntrico, justo enfrente del puente de O’Connell, a menos de 5 minutos andando (literalmente) de la zona de marcha de Temple Bar y digamos que en la frontera entre los dos distritos más céntricos de Dublín (1 y 2).
No es la típica taberna irlandesa, algo más ‘cool’, los precios de según qué consumiciones como pintas son más baratos de lo normal.
Para según qué acontecimientos tienen pantallas gigantes de televisión (proyectores).
A mí no me disgusta, pero personalmente prefiero los bares más irlandeses, además en el Q Bar no hay música en directo.

A good night out can be promised by Q bar! with its nice décor, good music and lively dancefloor it is a place of fun for all ages. its music tends to be pop, RnB, Hip-​Hop, rock, the odd mix of classics that gets everyone singing and whatever is left in the top-​40 will probably also be played.
There is also lots of seats as well as a dance floor. The cloak room is 2euro per item. There is two bars — the main bar for normal drinks, or my personal favourite — the cocktail bar! the long island ice-​teas are the most expensive at 10euro each, however are very tasty and good value.

Personally, I love Q bar for a night out. Not being from Dublin I didn’t know what to expect when my friends took me here but I certainly had a very good night. The interior decoration inside the bar is really fabulous and definitely makes the club what it is, I think its probably the main factor in making the atmosphere of the place.
Some of the other customers in there seemed a little bit arrogant and sure of themselves but that’s to be expected in any nice place. I met lots of nice people in their too and the drinks are no more expensive than anywhere else in Dublin. If you go with the right crowd I’m sure that this is a worthwhile night out.
