Absolutely gorgeous steaks, with a really good variety of cuts on the menu! The perfect place to enjoy a steak and a beer on a lazy Sunday afternoon downstairs. Or, if you’re feeling formal and fancy, upstairs is the way to go! Staff are lovely and service is really quick for a steakhouse!

Fabulous fillet steak the best In a long time. Only a small restaurant but a must when visiting Dublin. Would go back again and again.

was here for a stag party last month, not impressed at all ordered starter and ribs, starter great, ribs burnt and over done, couldn’t even complain to the non existing waiter, had to go back downstairs to get another drink to return and find my food taken away before I finished… I had to go to the kitchen to ask… stupid asian cook(not a chef). never never again

10 couples thing down the street on a tour of Ireland found this by chance. What a great find! The meat was superb for all but me, since I don’t eat red meat. I did have the fish special which was some of the best I’ve had anywhere. This is not in the center of town but is worth the trip out near the Ashling hotel and Phoenix park.

To think I came to Dublin to eat buffalo wings. They were amazing. Also a perfect poor of Guinness. Great Irish Pub that is a local favorite!

I am being generous because the service was fairly good, I could see the potential of the food to be really good & the chef realized he screwed up. We didn’t try to complain beyond mentioning it was overcooked at the end nor dd we try to send it back so I don’t feel like I can give it less although this experience might have warranted it. My wife & I stopped in after I read the reviews about this being one of the best steaks ever so the bar was high. We ordered a pint and a glass of wine and decided on the 59 € porterhouse for 2. We ordered it medium rare. It took along time. Because I’m guessing they forgot about it. It came out with an extra steak on one side because the chef over cooked it. That side of the porterhouse was well done. The other side was a medium — medium well. The«extra» steak we got was a delightful rare — medium rare. Had it all been like that extra strip he threw on top this would have been 4 stars. Still not the best ever for the money but a darn good steak. The chef knew his mistake. Somewhat tried to compensate for it but it should have been tossed & re cooked. 59 € is too much to pay for a badly botched steak and I feel like a place like this should know that and fix it correctly or at least buy our drinks or somehow try to make amends beyond giving a small steak cooked close to how our porterhouse should have been. Sides were generous & it was more than enough for 2.

We came here because it is a short walk from the hotel we were staying at. I had the steak and Guinness pie. My brothers shared the porterhouse steak for 2. The pie was delicious! I was worried it would be too heavy. It was, but it was also a very comforting meal. The steak… My brothers and I have ranked it in the top 5 steakhouse steaks we have ever had, and we have had many. The restaurant upstairs is small. If you plan to go on a Friday or Saturday, I suggest a reservation during peak dining hours. We decided to try the pub downstairs a few days later and tested out the starters. My favorite was the rarebit. The pub has a lot of character. The staff is very friendly and the barkeep was fun to talk to about the growing craft beer movement in Ireland.

Pints of porter, even if you don’t like Guinness you will here, sure it’s only made across the road… well river! Get sat in the bar not the lounge on a cold day and get a big ass bowl of stew and wash it down with… did I mention the Guinness

The best food I’ve had in Ireland so far. Prices were fair for the amount you get, and the quality was outstanding! I had the 3 course meal with the goat cheese torte that was great then rotisserie chicken and white chocolate raspberry cheese cake. The chicken was juicy with a nice skin, not super flavorful but very good. The cheese cake was lighter in texture than my favorite but very smooth and had great flavor. Its a very small restaurant that fits maybe 40 people which allows them to give great service.

Some days you just want a nice roast and from now on, this is the place I’m going. You could easily over look this pub if you were passing by but it is 100% worth a trip. We ate in the bar, sitting by the window. It was perfect, staff were friendly and efficient, menu was varied, even though I already knew what I wanted! The restaurant, which is upstairs, also sounds delicious based on the menu and it’s part of the FXB group, you know the meat will be excellent. Will definitely be back many times over, the atmosphere an old Victorian pub produces is second to none.

Nice platter at the bar. It had Seared Beef Skewer with dipping sauce, pickles, and Baby Back Pork Ribs with Galway Hooker IPA sauce! All fantastic! Also met a nice local outside who gave us tons of tips about the area!

Best Steak im der Stadt. Super Küche und sehr freundlicher und kompetenter Service. Und die Auswahl an Whiskys ist genial. Ok die sind in Irland leider sehr teuer. Ist aber immer einen Besuch wert

Lovely friendly staff, simply but very delicate menu. Had ribeye steak from dinner menu the other day, I have to say that was best steak I had for long time, cook to perfection, quality of the beef is good, plus the master skill of their chefs.

Food here is amazing! Castletownbere Mussels for starters and a nice steak for mains, cooked to perfection! What more could you want? These guys know how to cook steak! This is also one of the best places to get a Chateaubriand! Amazing cut of beef and with all the trimmings(chips, mash, veg, onions, mushrooms and 4 different sauces). It’s a force to be reckoned with. Delicious! Granted its a little bit expensive but between two people, the price isn’t bad and for what you get! It’s definitely worth it! The restaurant itself is nice and intimate, staff are always pleasant and the location is perfect, just outside the city but close enough for an after dinner stroll into the city! 5 stars all the way…

Caesar salad was great, fish and chips were really good too. One individual at my table doesn’t drink beer, ordered one as suggested by our waitress, didnt like it and was offered to try another beer free of charge. That’s pretty good customer service if you ask me! [I didn’t try the beer so I will refrain from rating their beer.] Others at my table got coffee with their desserts and they said it was very good.

Close to our B&B, we went to have some food and drink. We opted for the bar downstairs instead of the restaurant upstairs. We sat by the windows with a decent view of the soccer game. Food is not cheap but it may be the euro rates in comparison to the dollar. First up, kidneys. If you ignore the fact that they are kidneys, the dish is quite good. Chewy texture but tasted like meat. The sauce was absolutely perfect for dipping bread and fries. Steak sandwich for the meal was excellent. Cooked medium rare with some greens on a roll. We were happy, though secretly we coveted the gigantic burgers we saw practically everyone eating. I’d skip dessert. We got the lime pie. I might as well have eaten a raw lime. Waaay sour. Happy to go back but only if convenient.

I’m pretty partial to this pub I have to say. It’s got that ‘stood the test of time’ look about it. All dark wood and leather and old yokes hanging off the walls. But it also has really good wifi, a brilliant food menu, and super nice staff. I got a superfood salad there the other day(I’m not gonna lie, I was fully expecting some judgey eyes from the barman). It came out a few minutes laster, looking fabulous. All lovely colours, the epitome of health. The veg were cooked, or not cooked, perfectly, the chicken was good quality, and the sauce was tasty. Top marks!

Ryan’s Pub Beautiful Victorian pub, the best Beef and Guinness Pie I have ever had. I have been there more then fifty times(just ask the bar men), and almost always get the Beef and Guinness Pie with extra gravy!!! The burger and the Sunday roast are amazing as well. Very friendly staff. Great place to watch the game. I recommend Ryan’s of Parkgate Street to all my friends visiting Ireland. A must go to place for comfort food and their Beef and Guinness Pie!!! FXB Steakhouse(upstairs) I’ve also frequented the FXB upstairs which has the friendliest staff and the best steaks in Dublin. The juicy, tender meat is cooked to perfection the way you order it. When you ask for a steak to be cooked rare, they bring it to you.. . rare! I am so happy to find a steakhouse in Dublin that consistently delivers good quality food, at a great value and fantastic service.

We stopped in here for a quick lunch while we waited for our train to depart and wow, what a gem. We didn’t have very high expectations but the food was fantastic. This was my first Irish pub dining experience, but I doubt they get much better. Good food. Gorgeous interior. Highly recommended.

Another pub connected with FXB so you can expect Craft beer and excellent meat. I like the atmosphere — old, local, cosy. The bar is in the middle and basically accessible from everywhere. Friendly staffl. And a nicely sized snug. So not really any critical points. Apart from the fact that the two evenings I was in there it was both times pretty warm. Despite fan at the ceiling which on the other hand doesn’t bring fresh air. Hence only 3 stars.

I have yet to visit a nice traditional Irish pub since my arrival in Dublin and nothing fits the description better than Ryan’s on my 1 month anniversary in this lovely city! A short walk from Heuston station, this pub is innocuously tucked on a quiet-ish street. However, upon entry — one realises this is what all pubs should be like — from the warm inviting oak décor and ambience, the ancient clock to the whiskey barrels and much much more. The special brew of the month was a lovely German beer — € 5 for a 500 ml bottle and we opted to order food at the bar. The steak and Guinness pie was scrumptious and rather sizeable with nice big chunks of beef(not horse!) with a generous side of mash and was reasonably priced at € 13. Great crowd — it was always busy but never packed; bartenders friendly and knowledgeable, football game on the telly but unobtrusive. I’ll be back to try the Sunday lunch!
