I’ve been here a good few times as it’s close to work so it’s handy for lunch. I’ve not reviewed before as the food is OK but today, awful! I decided to go for the nasi goreng, I’d normally avoid this kind of thing on a pub grub menu but the curry is good so assumed this might be on par. I was mistaken, firstly the potion size is small for the price in comparison to almost all of the other dishes. Second, the egg on top looked like it was a pre cooked one left over from breakfast so there was no hope of a runny yoke creating a sauce. Third, the chicken was soooooo dry it was difficult to swallow and finally the body of the dish tasted and had the texture of a microwavable packet of rice. I ate all of it, I was starving! Now it wasn’t horrible but as described above means it was edible but anyone who can fry an egg would have done just as good a job. Keep clear of this dish at all costs. Go for the wings, always go for the wings. I’m sure I’ll be back but only as it’s convient not by choice.

Good food, lovely staff and lovely décor. Nice on a cold day with the cosy fire. The service can be quite slow and it can be quite busy but the food is good so worth the wait most of the time

We ate here with a pigsback voucher. Food was lovely but to took 15 minutes for anyone to come near us after we were seated. When we did receive our bottle of wine it was my cold. My fillet steak was impressive. Staff seemed generally uninterested. Think this is the third time we have eaten in this restaurant with a voucher. Superb food but it is a big restaurant that churns through the customers.

Stopped in to have a pint and a burger and to watch the Rugby World Cup after a long flight from the States. Beer was good. Service was excellent and attentive(good job Sarah from Kerry). Food came out quickly and was prepared as expected. It was a busy night because of the game. Would definitely recommend.

I haven’t been here for a very long time. Even though I live close by. When ever I pass the doors are closed. Week days. Thankfully on Saturday they were open. I settled in to watch the rugby with a poison of wings. I remember and have been told the wings are tasty, spicy and delicious. They did not disappoint. The staff were very nice and provided tables service. I’ve forgotten how comfortable this place is to pass a few hours. The best bar in IFSC bar a long shot.

Met an old friend I hadn’t seen in years for a pint and a catch-up and wound up eating here almost by default. Big, spacious dining area and even though the place was busy they fitted us in because of a no-show. Service was brisk and friendly without being pushy and they did check on us once or twice during the meal to see if we needed anything. Naturally, we needed more beer which apoeared seconds later almost like magic. We both had burgers with onion rings and fried onions(don’t judge, it’s not nice) on the side. Burgers and fries and, of course, the beer were all excellent and we reeled out into a balmy June evening declaring undying fealty and a letsnotmakeitsolonguntilthenexttime vow. Which we’ll keep. Good for what it is. Happy to go back. I hear the wings are excellent.

I’m not sure how this place is doing so well with reviews, but seems this place is very hit & miss. We had dinner here because we were gifted a voucher by an aunt of mine for my Birthday. It seems most people eating here were eating on vouchers too… Anyway, on first inspection it seems this place is nice, pub out front & fairly modern restaurant space in the back. It was only after we were seated & realised we were so close to the couple beside us that we actually couldn’t hear each other speaking very well — & they don’t jam the chairs in because it’s so busy, there were plenty of empty seats & big wasted spaces in the restaurant. I ordered prawns in chorizo & garlic butter. The prawns themselves were delish, so fresh. There was literally 1 shred of chorizo in the dish & it was absolutely SWIMMING in butter… Gross. Way too much. Also, they put my lemon in the butter meaning my hands were greasy trying to use it & didn’t offer a finger bowl the way they would for wings or other foods. My fiancé had the seafood chowder, an absolute favourite of his & he orders it wherever we go. I’m not a huge fish fan but always try it & tbh it was grand. Not too fishey but strangely enough the chowder tasted like bread to me. They either thickened it up using flour(& did a poor job of it) or there may have been dissolved bread in the soup… Very strange. On to the mains — had half a roast chicken & roasted veg & my other half ordered a lamb shank. With our voucher we had two sides available to us so my fiancé ordered some veggies for himself & I ordered garlic & cheese potatoes. The main itself was fine — my chicken was cooked very well, the skin was crispy, there was plenty of meat & the meat was juicy enough. However it was flavourless — no seasoning whatsoever used. Absolutely could have cooked this myself at home. The red wine gravy(jus?) came in a side dish & there were so many onions in said side dish that there simply wasn’t enough sauce to make up for the lack of flavour in the bird. The vegetables that claimed to be roasted were in some instances boiled & overcooked — I picked up a turnip & almost spit it back out as it turned to watery mush in my mouth. The cheese & garlic potatoes were just gross. They truly are one of my favourite things to eat in general & I was so disappointed with them. They were almost flavourless & greasy as opposed to covered in a creamy garlic/cheese sauce. & it seemed like they just melted a block of cheddar on the top. My other half’s lamb shank went better, but again no seasoning, his veg were essentially the same as mine. For dessert I ordered sticky toffee pudding & my other half ordered maple & pecan ice-cream sundae. My pudding looked & tasted shop bought & the cream on the side clearly came from a can(which is not always a bad thing, but not as advertised on the menu). Also, they had a raspberry coulis on the side which appeared to be just for decoration, the flavours didn’t really work very well — chocolate would have been much better! As for my other half’s ice-cream — it was literally vanilla ice cream with a scabby amount of maple syrup drizzled on top & some pecans — not what he expected, definitely oversold on the menu. Also, the staff were EXTREMELY slow. Now they never seemed to be standing around doing nothing, but they didn’t appear to be rushed off their feet either.. We waited about 15 minutes to try to get our bill at the end. We sat down to our meal at 7pm & it was definitely after 10 when we finished — which was fine for us but in a general sense is ridiculous. Can I also just note(without going into too much detail) that these are honestly the worst bathrooms I’ve ever experienced — said by someone who attended a Metal festival in the middle of nowhere in France in the Summertime… Think about that. Things I did enjoy — the pint I had before dinner, the wine we had with dinner & the coffee. Overall if I had prepared this meal at home I’d have been delighted with myself. But honestly coming out & paying as much as we paid for such average quality food I feel ripped off… I don’t know why I’m not giving this place just 1 star, but I suppose I’ve eaten worse & had worse service elsewhere… I will be returning for the chicken wings as I hear great things about them(but they weren’t included in our voucher)… Stay tuned for a second review on this place.

I’ve had a great couple of nights in here, the inside of the building itself is lovely and the furniture in the main bar is all a bit higgledy ipggaldy(a plus for me, not a fan of the plastic, identikit pubs.) A couple of open fires dotted around too which does a lot for the atmosphere too although maybe a bit sprawling to get a proper buzz going its nice if you come for a quieter meal or with a group looking to get a seat and have a chat instead of the standing only mania of nearer town. Drinks are pretty reasonable and the food menu is varied and from our experiences tasty. A solid show all round.

I have found this place to be cold, and it smells a bit like lavatory cleaner. Another reviewer also said the same. Not sure how everyone else seems to just ignore that:-)

I do really like it here when I go with work and a few friends, but most days its quiet and the evil bartender(darren) will serve you. He hates people who are not hard or scumbags.(because of the area). Be wary if your a man and buy wine or any drink that society deems«girly», because he will inform the whole staff to be rude to you and probably inform the chef. Good luck.

I thought the restaurant was great! I had bought a voucher off of grabone which made the value so much sweeter! My partner ordered the grilled cod with mussels risotto and onion rings and I ordered the red duck curry with the garlic n cheese potatoes. If I want to be finicky the cod was a tad over-cooked and the potatoes were a bit under-cooked. By the end of the meal the potatoes were perfect though so I wasn’t too disappointed. My partner and I agreed we would totally come back were we to have another voucher. It’s a bit pricey so not sure we’d go back without one though!

Only been there once, never will be there again. I don’t know why, but I had a beer with a friend at the bar. Nice place acutally, good assortment of beer — but the bar area itself was cold and — much more important — smelled a little bit like pee. Or toilet. Otherwise, the place looked great.

This is a great place to grab lunch or dinner if you are in the IFSC. The prices are a bit more than you would find from some cafes around, but this is a proper sit down sort of establishment with brilliant service. The décor is stunning as they preserved the original look at interior and wood so it really has a great feel to it. The food is good, as I said a bit steep but nothing you wouldn’t find anywhere else in Dublin. They do usually get busy during lunch and dinner so if you are going here and if you want to make sure you get seated reservations are the best way to go.

Went in for lunch yesterday and was expecting to get the free starter deal advertised in the o2 priority app. They refused to give it to me saying the time was wrong, which it wasn’t as it stated 12pm to 23pm. When I pointed this out, the beligerent staff then said that the deal was for a la carte only, even though the menu had separate starts and mains which is what a la carte means not«after 5pm», which is what she was trying to tell me! So in other words complete misleading advertising. They were completely unapologetic about this and blamed o2 even though she mentioned the same thing happened to someone else another day so they obviously didn’t bother trying to rectify it. Really poor for a place that doesn’t exactly pack them in for lunch. Most decent places would give the starter as an act of good faith. Wont be back in a hurry…

Went here with large group after purchasing a deal — two mains and two sides for 19euro. Nice restaurant, in handy spot with good atmosphere. Large portions, reasonably priced but the food was only mediocre.

25 minutes just to come and take our order. Arrived at 19h35, order taken at 19h58. The food looked ok. My rack of lamb strangely had no rack??? And was so tough! The portions were very small, so you need to order sides on top of paying € 19 for your meat. There were only 5 mains on the menu. Very limited. Now a few weeks on, I thought to try this place again, and it was much better. Staff frendlier and food much better. Got offered drinks straight away. Food delivered within 30 minutes of ordering. Is this new management or did they just pull up their socks?
