Ran in with junior for a quick coffee. Coffee was good, babychino was good, rice-crispy marsbar square was excellent, you can tell a lot about a café by their rice-crispy marsbar squares. …these were rich and tasty and no skimping on the ingredients. I shall be back to try the caramel squares, I have high expectations.

I enjoyed it here and it automatically gets bumped up a star as it was open when other cafes around the area were not on a Sunday afternoon. The menu is simple and not too overly priced. The seating and décor are nice and contemporary with just a touch of old cottage charm. I like that you can see in to the kitchen area — I have always deemed this as a good sign that my food will be clean and prepped well as nothing can hide. The menu is unusually not behind the counter, it’s on the opposite wall, so look to the left when you enter. I had a BLT and camomile. The BLT was particularly nice as it had mature cheddar cheese in it– unusual enough for me anyway, but right up my alley as I’d eat cheese from a smelly welly I love it that much! It was tasty and the bacon was thick not thin and brittle, another plus for me. Like most cafes nowadays it can get noisy at times due to barista coffee banging but it didn’t put me off my kindle once. There is no signal to the back of the café so grab a close to the door if you can! Great for anything with cheese heads, coffee to go or stay heads, and sitting on as many cushions at the window seat as possible to see how high you can go heads!

White Pepper is a little café in the Swan Centre, Rathmines. It seems fairly newly opened, so the last time I passed by, I called in to check it out. It’s darkish inside as there is no natural light except from the glass shopfront– but by no means too dark. There were about ten wooden tables which would sit two people, and a larger one at the front. I took a point off here because my table was a bit dirty. You go to the counter to order, and there is a small range of breads and pastries to choose from on display. I thought the service was a bit abrupt, however the coffee was genuinely very good. There is free wifi, and you don’t feel rushed out after it. So generally a good fine, and certainly the best in the Swan centre.
