A little bit of coffee paradise in rathmines a bustling coffee shop popular with locals and a lot of Asians and foreign students(must be good wifi)

Desperate loyalty card scheme okay coffee lifeless atmosphere. There’s basic nothing else to say about this place.

«It’s cold dad…» «I know son, that’s because this place has no soul.» OK, harsh I know, but true none the less. We came, drank coffee and hot chocolate, split a caramel peanut slice thing that even junior thought too sweet(but we finished it!), and left. It’s grand, it does what it says on the tin, but not somewhere I’d go out of my way to get to.

This is a nice big, bright Starbucks location. Being a little further out from town means it’s not as overrun with teenagers during the summer, and they have a lot of seats and plugs so you can get some work done if you feel like getting out of the house. There are usually a few families around but also a solid crowd of laptoppers getting work done, and they’ve got two big tables suitable for groups if you’ve got a meeting planned and want somewhere a little different.

Search for Starbucks on Unilocal Dublin, and the Rathmines branch is number 16 in a seemingly infinite list. To my surprise, I really liked this branch. I’m not very familiar with Starbucks in general but my experience has generally been that’s it’s a place to have a quick coffee and and go. This is possibly because I usually go to Starbucks in airports and smaller convenience outlets. But I can see myself spending time in this one, it’s airy and comfortable. There are couches benches, and tables, all of which seemed very conducive to the different reasons one might go to a café. I’d love a café like this near me.

What can one say about Starbucks?!? I’m not a big fan of the chains, but it provided comfortable seating, hot coffee and a relaxed ambiance while we waited to go to the cinema. I also found out they do free refills of their filter coffee if you drink it inside, hence 3 stars. Otherwise it would have been 2 for nothing special.

This has to be one of the best Starbucks in Dublin. Lovely open space, muted décor, great coffee and talented Baristas. They do a really lovely flat white. The staff are friendly and I love the self-assured American(Canadian?) woman’s accent and charm, it reminds me of the personable customer service I experienced in Starbucks in North America.
