It seems like a place built for tourists, but the food is good and locally sourced. We came in last minute and were lucky to snag the last upstairs table. Besides the suffocating heat, the place was nice with an upscale ambiance but we didn’t feel out of place in jeans either. The menu is done as either a two(24.95) or three(29.95) course prix-fixe menu, so we opted for the two course. I started with the mussela am d BF got the lamb. I definitely think I won the course as mine were delicious. He enjoyed his as well but the portion was super small. For entrees, I got the vegetarian nut roast which was unique and delicious. He opted for another meat dish, which I can not remember for the life of me what it was, but it was also tasty. If you are looking for good locally sourced food(and have ample time … it’s not a quick stop), definitely give it a try!

I am a native Dubliner but have lived in Chicago for 11 years. I was back home in July and had dinner here with my Mam and sister. I must say that this is possibly the best restaurant i have ever eaten at in Ireland. The service was impeccable, the food delicious, the ambiance amazing and the waitress was extremely friendly. We need more places like this in Ireland. Please take the time to visit if you are in Limerick City !

Found this bistro on Unilocal. Our group of 11 found ourselves in Limerick and needed a place to dine. Called Freddy’s and they could not accommodate our group on such short notice. Limited seating. Called back about 10 minutes later and they were able to make room for our group. So grateful. WOW… what an amazing dining experience. Don’t miss the sticky toffee pudding. I thought I died and went to heaven. Great food, wine, service, friends, and family. Perfect evening. Don’t miss this foodie experience.

Definitely worth the 5 Star Review but upfront there are no beers on tap but they have Guinness in a can(boo). However, the food and service more than make up for the lack off tap beers. I had the red curry, which was really good — flavorful and not too spicy. My fiancée had the lamb burger, which was truly amazing. To top it off, the cheese board for dessert was excellent as well. If you have one meal to eat in Limerick, this is the place.

We had the duck dish and the vegetarian nut roast, they were both out of this world; So good! Hard to pinpoint exactly what was in them, but we quit trying to figure out if those really were cherries and what else was in the roast and just enjoyed. We both also ordered the baby roasted potatoes. So light, buttery and amazing. Especially loved the slightly well done pieces. We finished with a nutty pancake and the apple and blackberry crumble. Also fabulous. Highly recommend. I believe the establishment sticks to a 2 or 3 course price for every meal. With some dishes having a surcharge. Not sure if you can have just one course, they may just charge you the 2 course price anyway so it may not be worth it. Again, great place, so glad we ventured over and a great finale to our Limerick escapade. Service was also above par, though I think they prefer reservations even though we got lucky and snagged a table for two on a Thursday at 1900. Cheers!

Decided to try this out based on trip advisor ratings and Unilocal reviews. WOW. Friendly staff, not a lot of seating, and they lock the door(due to rowdy pub nearby?). Décor is nice, and dress code seemed to be casual(a few with jeans, etc). You can get a beer, but you are going to enjoy the full experience if you try something from their wine menu. The Julio Bouchon was wonderful. To start we had the mushroom ristotto, which was cooked perfectly. Melted in my mouth(fresh parm on top). We also had the garlic ciabatta, which was ok(how much can garlic ciabatta really shine anyways). Our table had a vegetarian, which sounds like is not very common, but he was raving about the Twice Baked Nut Roast. Other mains were both the lamb shank, which fell off the bone and was absolutely delicious. For dessert we had the Warm Apple & Blackberry crumble, and they were practically drinking the custard straight up. I had the Crème Brulee and they nailed it. We will definitely be back, best food of the past few trips here.

One of my favorite restaurants in Limerick(if not my favorite). Very good quality food at a fair price(25 euro 3 course prix fixe menu). It’s down an alley so while it’s in downtown, not the easiest to find.

A fantastic place for a quiet dinner with friends or colleagues. I’ve eaten there several times over the years with colleagues from our site in Limerick. I’ve also taken my wife there. Great place for a fine meal. They don’t have a bar but will bring you a pint from the pub across the way. Works for me!

Had a fantastic dinner here on our way through Limerick. Enjoyed two pasta dishes and some of the best mussels I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend very highly!

Freddy’s Bistro is a nice little two floor restraunt but can be a little on the pricey side. The food is nice and the atmos is fairly laid back, but it can get fairly packed at weekends and in the summer so booking is advisable.

I have had two lovely meals at Freddy’s. I was travelling alone and was really pleased to find Freddy’s. The staff were great and did not mind a lone dinner and someone taking photos of their food. I was even joined by the owner at times to chat and pass the time and that was really pleasing. The food was excellent both times and washed down with some very nice wine. At times, been a lone traveler can actually be a really good thing.
