I had the is Osso Buco. It was very salty. I thought the food was just okay. A little overpriced. My daughter had the duck Ragu and again ridiculously salty. I wasn’t impressed.

We came in early for the Palio festivities. We knew Siena would be hopping busy, and it truly was. We were looking for a late leisurely lunch, and Ristorante le Campanella didn’t disappoint! It’s a cute inviting place, just near the campo, but it looked brimming with people. When we asked about a table for 4 people they said«of course!» We had one of the best meals in all of Tuscany here. I ordered a caprese(which came on stylish sticks) and the asparagus carbonnara. The hubby and kids ordered equally well, and we all agreed it was our best meal in Siena or the Tuscany area. Plus the people were nice, and there was plenty of interior seating so we never felt rushed. If you’re in Siena, I’d say stop in, as it really was a winner!

Some of the best lunch time food we had on our Tuscan trip, from one of the oldest restaurants in Siena. Located really close to the amazing Piazza del Campo, it is a cut above the pricey but average establishments right on the square. Le Campane boasts a small terrace from which you can watch the rush of tourist running between the Campo and the Duomo. The inside is warm and inviting — open brick and beams.
