I had such high hopes for this place but was faced with disappointment. The service was alright, the place was clean, but the food was just… bad. I started the meal with a cocktail, it was some sort of apple martini. It came to me with a stick of cinnamon inside the drink, but nowhere on the drink menu did it mention that. I don’t like cinnamon in my alcoholic beverage so I sent it back and exchanged for a maple old fashioned. The drink was prepared with small ice cubes(rather than the one big hunk of ice as seen in nice bars), this leads to the drink being diluted down very quickly as the ice melts. We got the cast iron scallop with pork belly as appetizer. The(2) scallops were good, although one of them was significantly smaller than the other. The pork belly, however, is literally a chunk of fat. There were absolutely no meat — only the skin and the fat. I got the special of the day, which was a seafood(red sauce) pasta. The seafood selection was good — mussels, prawns, crab legs, and fish. However, none of the ingredients were done nicely. The mussels were small, the prawns and fish were overcooked, the crab legs were impossible to eat in a civilized manner and there weren’t enough meat under the shell. The pasta itself was fine, and the sauce was acceptable, albeit rather salty. In retrospect I should’ve complained about the«special of the day» and got some non special item off the menu. My husband got the bison tenderloin with potato dauphinoise. The bison was amazing, and the potato was special, as it was prepared in sheets sort of like a millie crêpe. The meat definitely tasted gamey, and it was juicy and tender at medium doneness. So overall it was ALMOST a total miss, had it not been for the bison. However, I would rather find bison tenderloin somewhere else, because I’m sure at Banff it’s not that hard to find. Safe to say we will not be returning.

Went for lunch had their game meat and cheese platter which was pretty expensive but super tasty. The game stroganoff my lady-friend had was eh. Meat was good, but noodles sucked. I had the game burger which was pretty good except for the melted blue cheese(tasted like foot so that’s what I expect) they put on it. All in all it was okay but cost more than it was worth.

Outstanding. Expansive menu and wine list. Great service. Everything we ate was spectacular — visually and in flavour. A lovely ambience and many nooks that create almost a private dining experience. Priced in the upper end but completely worth it for the fine dining experience that will come your way.

The elk sliders were my favorite. The alberta prime bone in ribeye was great to share, wasn’t the most amazing of steaks but was still damn good. The crab cake was not particularly memorable.

We are so hungry after visiting Sulphur Mountain and it is turn out to be a very right choice for us. We order duck wings and New York steak. Both are good. They are good at beef, really.

Had this three tiered sampler platter when we were here. It was not that great. We were excited for all of the seafood, and when we got the platter we were even more excited. However once we started eating it we were disappointed. There were three tiers and I would not recommend three tiers. By the time you get to tier two, the food is already cold. You need to eat one at a time. Secondly not all the food on the platters were good. The Squid was very nasty, the muscles were not good either. The crab was great and the lobster was not good.. . I would be very skeptical about this dish. I do not recommend it. Also for the price. It is way too expensive to enjoy. Value does not equal cost.

Still in Banff(my summer vacation trip), with my companion we reserved a table at the Maple Leaf Grill. For the most part, we try to go to this place at least once for every time we are in Banff. On this occasion, we definitely made it as it was a special occasion. I had the Scallop appetizer to start and just to be clear, read the description… you get 3 nice sized scallops, BUT it also includes 3 small servings of baked pear topped with roasted salted pork. I say this because I didn’t read the description and thought I only had 3 scallops(yes, I was hungry so I was like…“what??”…but crisis averted and the pear with salted pork was quite good as the pear complemented the roasted pork really well). My main was the Halibut and it was filling and very good. Accompanied with seasonal vegetables and a cream base complement, the fish was cooked really well and not dry. As well, it was SIMPLE which made it even more delicious because you could taste the fish and not the condiments. My companion had the Calamari for his appetizer(done differently… not the usual ringlets, but rather, they cut them into«chips») served with a tomato chutney, NOT runny salsa(hurrah!). His main was the Kuterra Salmon which he thoroughly enjoyed(so much so that I didn’t even get to taste it in time). Our desserts were the Strawberry Rhubard Crumble with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and the Chocolate Mousse Cake. The crumble took a few extra minutes for the preparation, and they told us this so we wouldn’t wonder… it was worth the wait on a bit of a chilly evening to finish off such a lovely dinner with a really nice staff and attentive manager/owner. My only complaint are the chairs… they are well used and so I felt like I sank in a bit and almost wanted to ask for a pillow to sit on to be a bit taller(alas, the bummer of being a little short)…however, if that is the only not so positive thing I can say, well… next time, I will ask for a pillow or ask for a different chair ;-)

Ordered a turkey sandwich and was filling. Tasted very good and not your typical bland turkey sandwich. My friend ordered a beef burger and claimed it was really good. I tasted and man, it tasted awesome. Burgers and sandwiches with a huge taste twist! Food and service were both good and comfortable. Would definitely go again, but beware, it can be pricy!

If you want to try Alberta beef, then come in. The AAA Alberta beef and the lamb shank were super delicious. But the thing was good things worth waiting. We have waited for almost 1 hour to grab one seat

Dinner was awesome. I had the beef tenderloin and my wife had the halibut. The tenderloin was perfectly cooked and delicious, but I’m relatively easy to please. My wife practically licked her plate clean and she’s way more fickle when it comes to food. All in all, a nice dining experience.

My son and I ate a late lunch and we were pleased with the food and service. The Maple Leaf is located at the corner of Banff Ave and Caribou St but faces along Caribou. Seating at street level is comfortable and allows you to watch activity along the street. The ambiance is casual with a log cabin interior. Comfortable but not rustic. I had the soup of the day with Caesar salad. I enjoyed both very much. My son had the game burger with fries. He thought both were very good. We finished lunch by sharing one of our favorite deserts– Crème Brûlée assortment. We both agreed they were very good, too. This was a fine meal, and I would recommend The Maple Leaf. I think this would be an especially fitting place for couples.

Definitely one of the better restaurants in Banff. We had the game stroganoff with elk and bison in a buttery sauce with a little fresh sour cream and mushrooms. It was excellent. The kids had the bison tenderloin wrapped in bacon and the Alberta New York Strip. Both were very good. The wine list is extensive and we decided to branch our from our normal California wines and try a Canadian wine. They have many to choose from but we went with the Burrowing Owl Cab Franc. It is one of the more popular high end Canadian wines with many varieties. It was exceptional. For dessert we had the soufflé, crème brûlée trio, and mango peach sorbet. All were very good. Service was excellent. Make reservations or expect a long wait.

While meandering through Banff downtown, we came across Maple Leaf and learning that they have a happy hour from 3−5pm, we decided to go inside to get a drink. Got seated by a bar and asked the bar tender to recommend a cocktail that is on the sweeter side. He did and made a fabulous one for me! We didn’t stay for dinner, but would love to, another time.

My absolute favourite restaurant in Banff! Every time I’ve taken anyone I know here, everyone has loved every single dish we’ve tried. From duck to chicken to the salad to the mussels, EVERYTHING is delicious and cooked so well here :) I recommend making reservations because even though the place is quite big, it always seems really busy. The atmosphere is really nice and cozy, I love the interior cabin-like feel throughout the entire restaurant. Definitely a must try if you are looking for some good food in Banff.

The Maple Leaf restaurant is an important one for me because it is where I took my girlfriend for our anniversary after she agreed to throw away her life with me.(Engaged). The restaurant itself is rather lovely with a nice modern décor mixed with a rustic feel as well. On the corner of Banff Ave and Caribou, it is a very difficult spot to miss. The menu offers up so many different delicacies and the wine list is rather impressive with wines from across the world. We had an order of champagne to celebrate and we ordered one from Italy. Impressive menu with prices that are on par with most fine dining establishments We started with an order of Duck Confit Wings and a Crab Cake to start. The duck confit wings were very good and very sticky sweet. The wings are crisped very nicely and the glaze they use was dripping heavily. It comes with a side of ranch, but there is no need as there is enough flavor in the meat and the sauce. It comes with about 10 nice wings to an order. The crab cake appetizer was OK. I didn’t find much crab meat chunks as it were more crab meat shreds. An order of the crab cake only comes with one giant crab cake and slaw. It was a mediocre app that I probably would avoid on the next go around. I ordered the 18oz Cowboy Steak as my entrée while the fiancé opted with the Game Stroganoff. The steak was fantastic! It comes with a side of jus and sprinkled with fried onions. There is a bowl of mushrooms and peppers in the event you want to have them on your steak, but I found it unnecessary. The steak was tender for medium rare and was so damn juicy. The meat was seasoned beautifully and I didn’t need the jus because the flavor was enough. It’s a large steak that comes bone-in so don’t expect to need anything else. The Game Stroganoff was a more complex dish of pappardelle noodles served with wild mushrooms, cream sauce, and a nice helping of elk and bison chunks. The noodles were fresh, as were the mushrooms. The dish itself is heavy as there is a bit more butter than expected, but tastes good. The bison and elk chunks of meat were very good, but a tad dry. Service was stellar and were attentive. They answered all our questions and greeted us with specials as well. Nothing worse than not knowing about a special after ordering. The place is very nice and worth the price if coming for a special occasion. Definitely will make my way back if I ever find myself back in the Banff region.

Many suggestions by many friends to eat here on our honeymoon, so we made some last minute changes and decided to come here. Don’t regret it in the least(though the wallet might). Fresh home baked focaccia is awesome — especially in the balsamic olive oil dip. I guess after hiking all day, we were extra hungry and asked for a few refills — our waiter gladly obliged: D For starters, we got the crab cakes — real thick hockey pucks of real crab with great contrasting sauces — a sweet and spicy thai chili and a mustard based one with some pickled beets for acidity. Made me crave seafood the rest of the trip. For main courses, the wife got a NY strip(swapping the sides for the ones on the ribeye) and I got the Quebec duck. The steak is decently seasoned with a good crust, and the sides are excellent, with bold punchy flavors. The duck portion size must have been a half a duck: duck breast, duck confit of the leg and thigh. It’s soft, melt in your mouth tender — not too much gamey notes either. It’s on a bed of mushroom risotto swimming in juniper berry jus that fills your tummy with happy warmness. You’ll leave very full but very happy!

I came here because it was right across the street from my hotel in Banff. It’s right on Banff avenue, so the location is great. The service and ambiance were great right from the start. I got the white sangria, which was really fruity and delicious. They give you complimentary bread with oil and vinegar to start, which is nice while you are waiting for your meal. They had a bunch of seasonal lobster specials, so for my main course I got the lobster mac n’ cheese. It is a little bit pricey, but it was absolutely delicious! My meal was so good and of high quality. My one friend got the salmon and the other got lamb, and both their meals were equally great! I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Banff and want to enjoy a nice upscale dinner.

you can guess by the name of the restaurant that their signature dishes have maple in them. You are right! It does! First we got the stroganoff. Oh man, I love stroganoffs and this is one of the best. The bison in the pasta is a little chunky and tough, you kind have to pull it apart first. Then we got the salmon entrée because it said«signature dish» so yes get it get it get it! Salmon is fresh British Columbia salmon and there is a maple glaze on top that brings the flavor together!!! The service is also very good and I absolutely loved everything here. Oh! If it’s lobster season, OMG get the lobster !!! We got the lobster roll as appetizers and it was amazing!
