Amazing bakery! We were in town for two days and couldn’t help but come by both days… Literally everything was delicious

What’s not to like? Decadent pastries, buttery croissant, fluffy and crisp baguettes and the list goes on. I think it’s safe to say this is the best bakery in town– several local restaurants also feature their fresh bread on their menus(PD3 and Crazyweed to name a couple). Le Fournil is worth a visit.

Excellent coffee, croissants and baguettes — almost enough to get me to move Canmore, so that I could enjoy them for breakfast daily!

Excellent breakfast pastries. I wish we’d been able to try more of their items, but we didn’t have time for a second visit.

The almond croissant here is off the hook! My husband and I know and appreciate good French bakeries. The almond croissant here was indulgent, flakey, buttery and just one of the best I have had in Alberta. Definitely worth a visit for that alone! As for the bakery itself, I loved the light airy feel of it, and the ladies working behind the counter were really sweet as well. This place is going to be another staple for us in Canmore!

Perfection. The flourless orange cake is like a big orange madeleine– never had anything quite like it and it’s instantly addictive. In addition to peerless pastries, they pull very nice cappuccinos using Fratello(from Calgary) beans. Wish they’d open a location in Calgary!

I can get a fresh all butter chocolate croissant at Save On for $ 1.95 but at this bakery they charge almost $ 4 and it did not taste fresh or of good quality. My americano was not good coffee either. I will not go back

I was in Canmore recently for a business event and the first morning found me muttering about not being able to handle hotel coffee. Luckily for me a local host overheard me and recommended Le Fournil. I quickly headed west in search of my fix and was not disappointed. Perfectly made cappuccino with good crema and oh so buttery house made croissant. Good looking minimal, modern patisserie interior, friendly staffers, and a chance to have a quick read of a Calgary food magazine, which had a great feature about Ironworks Distillery in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. A great way to start my day.

A wonderful addition to Canmore’s food scene. The baker/owner here has some serious skills. While I am a celiac I sure do love her macaroons.

Hands down the best croissants and pain au chocolat in the greater Calgary area. Insanely flakey and buttery in a way only possible through diligent manual preparation of the dough. Definitely worth a slight detour on the way to Banff or the ski hills. Or even as a purpose-built trip to Canmore on an indulgent Saturday morning.

You haven’t had a real croissant until you’ve had Croissant Gourmet. Specializing in croissants(and some of THEBEST croissants I’ve ever had at that), Croissant Gourmet is reason alone to make the trip out to Canmore. If you’re a croissant affectionado then I highly recommend their croissants ordinaires, pain au chocolat and croissants aux amandes. If you love savoury crepes, then try the galette. If quiches and sandwiches are more your thing, then they’ve got a ton of those as well. And if you just want to sip an espresso while you make up your mind, then feel free to do so. My words can’t do this place justice. Walk in and you’ll get why it’s 5 stars hands down. Just one cautionary word however, if you get there past noon, they may not have any croissants left so always remember: the early bird catches the worm ;)
