The service was great. Food was just average. We had tempura shrimp which had a tasty sauce and spices but the shrimp had no taste. We had the lamb which was ok and the lobster which was ok too. Nothing bad to say but not anything special.

We made a reservation at 8:15pm and arrived on time. But the waitress let us stand right in front of the entrance door for 15 mins without any services. Very uncomfortable experience

Pleasantly surprised. We had oysters, surf & turf, lobster risotto. Everything was delicious. Price was reasonable for the quality and quantity of the meal. If you’re looking for a good place, try it!

This restaurant came highly recommended by Unilocal and other online sources and it did not disappoint. Atmosphere was convivial and cheerful, without being too loud or overbearing. Relaxed is the word I would use to describe it. Food is amazing — definitely not pub. Find casual dining at its best.

Visit with a colleague this quiet Monday night. What a phenomenal meal. Both had the appetizer cup(the bowl could be meal in itself I think) of seafood chowder. Probably the best I have ever had. Big chunks of lobster, scallop, mussels and shrimp. It was absolutely delicious and the homemade cheese biscuits were a perfect side. Server even offered extras. I had the halibut and again not disappointed. Cooked perfectly with potatoes and spinach sides. Colleague had the Lobster Risotto and loved it. Highly recommend for a great dinner. Will be back.

My boyfriend and I visited Claddagh Oyster House on our recent trip to Charlottetown. While it wasn’t our favorite spot based on the food itself, the server was very friendly and we were seated in an enormous but cozy little booth for the two of us. If we were seated at one of the tables for two I don’t think I would be writing the same review right now. I ordered the haddock(which I had never had before and was pleasantly surprised) with some kind of delicious pureed potatoes. I think someone messed up in the kitchen and gave me the whole fish. There were definitely at least three filets on my plate. The fish itself was cooked to perfection and had a delicious, but understated, broth. I am also so glad the server talked me into the purée. The reason this is only getting three stars is because my boyfriend’s dish was dreadful. The lobster in the lobster risotto was overcooked and there was an overpowering taste of cheese as opposed to any other flavors. I think I’d have to try a few more dishes in order to up that rating, as the food may be hit or miss.

Service was good. Little easy on the Jameson pour. Cheese biscuits delicious. Going on 45 min since ordering, still no food. But when it did come out. Oh my god it was fantastic. Surf n turf blows your freakin mind.

I really wanted a nice meal and atmosphere for the last night of my husband and my Atlantic vacation. We took a chance and picked this oyster bar. I am so glad we did.

If we ever come back here again, we have to eat more. The service from our waitress, Cathy was phenomenal. Our Chef Jamie was exceptional for such a young chef. We tried the Chef’s 4 course Tasting Menu for $ 50 per person. Wonderful food. Still dreaming about the Pork Belly with Maple Syrup Glaze! The Chef came to our table and talked to us about our likes and dislikes from the menu then she constructed a special menu just for our party. We had a choice of 4 courses without dessert or 4 courses with dessert. We chose more food and ordered the dessert as our 5th course to share for 3 people. Course 1 — Mussels in Curry Wine sauce; Mussels were so fresh and succulent, the broth is flavorful with just a touch of curry and the light wine taste and does not mask the taste of the mussels. Course 2 — Pan Seared Scallop, Lobster Risotto and Pork Belly with Maple Glaze and Raisin Chutney — every bite is so flavourful, the Pork Belly is so soft, melts in your mouth, the glaze is not too sweet or too sticky. The Scallop is so light with a nice tight sear that is crispy and not burnt; Lobster Risotto is so rich and creamy with nice chunks of lobster in every bite. The raisin chutney cuts nicely with the rich flavor of the pork belly and risotto Course 3 — Tempura Prawn and Crabcake — sounds simple but not overdone; still taste the delicacy of the meat. I have had better Tempura Prawn at Japanese Restaurant but the Crabcake was just barely patted together and lightly fried. So much crab meat in every bite and I wonder how it held together. It sits on top of some nicely roasted peppers with Hoisin Sauce. The Sauce does not taste like its just out from the bottle, they have done something to it so its not too salty and it balanced the DF Tempura and Crabcake nicely. Course 4 — Medium Rare Bison with XO Sauce and grilled veggies and mashed potatos — sounds simple but the flavour and the tenderness of the meat was incredible. The Bison is so tender and works nicely with the XO Sauce. For an Asian finding a non Asian restaurant using Asian condiments like Hoisin or XO Sauce was confusing but delighted at the same time. Dessert Course — White Chocolate & Brown Butter Bread Pudding with Whiskey Toffee and French Vanilla Ice Cream — this is not your grandma’s bread pudding, the White Chocolate and Brown Butter was soaked overnight. So GOOD, still drooling thinking about it. Its not overly sweet at all and the toffee is not sticky as you would expect. The cold ice cream balanced everything out. We are sorry we did not have the room to have some oysters. If we ever come back again, we will definitely try the Chef Menu again. Other than the Tasting Menu I had in London at Gordon Ramsay’s Boxwood Café, this was one the best meals I have tasted thus far.

This is the second time we have come here for a big celebration and had the most amazing experience. The service was exceptional thanks to all staff especially our server Nicole. She was very welcoming and made us feel very comfortable with the menu as well as brought lots of laughter to our night. The food as always … Incredible. Oysters rock, shrimp tempura, as apps were a great start to the night. All mains were mentionable, Halibut. Striploin, and Galway bay meal delicious. Desert was the perfect end to our night. Sticky date pudding(to die for) and chocolate brownie with homemade peanut butter, one of a kind. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Overall a great experience!!!

While in Charlottetown we stayed at Charlotte’s Rose B&B. We met a couple from Arizona who were regular visitors there. They directed us to Claddagh Oyster House for a good dinner. This is another place where you should get reservations, but we were fortunate to get a small table in the bar and it was fine. This was an outstanding meal in a great place. After a good mixed green salad, we had a main dish called Galway Bay with prawns and scallops with mushrooms in a creamy sauce with fingerling potatoes and sautéed vegetables. This is highly recommended. We also had very good pan fried haddock in lemon, caper, brown butter. Wow, also very good. The vegetables were crisp and tender and seasoned. Thus far we had had consistently good seafood in Nova Scotia and PEI. This was one of the best. Service was fine, food was great. We would certainly return anytime.

Burgers were literally dripping with grease, and the mussels were expensive and small. Service was rather brusque. There’s better options nearby.

We went there once and liked it so much, we went back 2 nights later.(Something we will rarely do on vacation.) Claddagh has the formula right … fresh food, prepared well, interesting tastes, super-friendly service and an energetic atmosphere. It is not the cheapest option in the neighborhood, but worth every dollar. In all, we had fresh oysters(they offer 6 – 7 different types, shucked to-order), a mussels appetizer that was amazing, PEI tenderloin(also amazing), surf and turf, haddock cakes and more. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious and completely exceeded expectations. They even have a surf and turf(pork belly + scallops) just like at, trendy, Lot 30 — we had it at both places and Claddagh’s version blows away«Not 30.»(Our review of underwhelming Lot 30 is posted.) The Claddagh staff couldn’t be friendlier and more helpful. And, this was one of those restaurants where you look around and think, «I really like everyone dining here.» Was a great time — a MUSTVISIT when in Charlottetown.

Went here on the recommendation from the hotel concierge at Super 8 hotel and I’m extremely happy she directed us here. We were a group of 6 on a Sat night and luckily they had room. I recommend making a reservation. Atmosphere was classy yet casual. It’s a bit dark inside. Service: Servers were very friendly and went out of their way to help us(bill splitting, ensuring we get the best prices for our bulk oysters order ie. orders of $ 45 for 25 oysters). Food: For a group of 6 we order 7 oysters each(1 of every kind for each person), and 5 appetizers. Risotto was a little undercooked, mussels/crab cakes and pork belly were good. Sweet potato hash was disappointing. We were full on oysters and didn’t even bother with the mains. Oysters they had that night Malpague, Colville Bay(my fav), Shiny Sea, Raspberry Point, Pickle Point, Lucky Lime, Uncle Willy. Oysters were delicious straight up with a little bit of lemon.

Great mussels and lobster. I wanted to humor myself and tried Red Lobster before I visited PEI to compare and you can easily tell the difference in the sweetness of fresh Atlantic Lobster, not to mention Claddagh prepared a simple boiled lobster much better. Recommended if you’re in PEI.

Stopped in here just for their oyster sampler at the suggestion of Julie the distiller at Prince Edward Distilling. We sampled 5 different oysters from all across PEI. The favorite was from Shiny Sea, followed by Lucky Lime, Malpeque, Pickled Point and Raspberry Point. Great way to learn about the subtle differences of oysters from different parts of the Island.

You have to try this place. They’re one of the only places in Charlottetown that serves the freshest seafood year round. I really recommend the Lobster Gnocchi! My wife had the Pork belly, and it was scrumptious! The restaurant has this beautiful waterwall on the northside of the restaurant. It really adds to the elegance. The restaurant is small, so I recommend making reservations. The size and lighting provide this exquisitely intimate environment, perfect for honeymooners, or people celebrating their anniversary! Go check it out!
