Damn! Dave makes a good lobster roll. Having grown up in Massachusetts and attended college in Maine, I’ve had quite a few lobster rolls in my day. Dave’s may be the very best. It hurts to type that… But damn! Dave gives a generous portion of claw meat dressed lightly with mayo and a few bits of celery dice for crunch. The bun is beautifully buttered and toasted. Also, my girlfriend enjoyed her lobster taco. Visit Dave’s!

We went out of our way to eat here and couldn’t have been more disappointed. Here’s the lowdown… Walked in to a completely empty and eerily quiet place. Service wasn’t unfriendly but it wasn’t great either. Answers to our questions were abrupt. No suggestive selling. We finally decided on a regular and a half-and-half sandwich but since we already rolling $ 32 deep we nixed beer options. We did get a very small bag of chips each and I really liked my sweet potato ones. It being a beautiful day, we chose a spot outside and less than 5 minutes later the sandwiches came out. The server said ‘the half-and-half is cut in half’ and at first I thought that the 2 sandwiches presented were my one in two sections. Then I realized ‘whoa! these are teeny tiny portions!’ and my heart, and my stomach, dropped a bit. I tried to buck up and hope that the taste would make the size irrelevant. Alas, it was not to be. The cold portion was better than the hot but since the bread tasted like it had been microwaved it still wasn’t anything great. The hot portion was tough as nails and the partner bit into a HUGE piece of shell in his sandwich. He said that it was pretty painful. We tried to go in to show the folks behind the counter but a huge group walked in and was taking a long time to order and we had to skeedaddle to make check in time on the other side of the island. I hate to bring up something in a review that we couldn’t bring closure to during the situation but it is what it is. Maybe you’ll have better luck than we did.
