I decided to try this new place that just opened in the Schoolhouse Complex with a friend after watching a movie from the nearby thatre, we ordered one of the usual combos that you would order in this kind of place which was the Jajang Noodle, Kanpoongki, Tangsuyook combo. The portion was big considering the price but what sealed the deal is that it is one of the best and tastiest compared to other Chinese-Korean restaurants I’ve been.(There is one in North Road, beside H-Mart that still is my favorite). The Kanpoongki was very crispy despite being bathe in its delicious sweet and spicy sauce and the Black bean Jajang sauce was one of the best I have tasted so far. I have been to other Korean-Chinese style restaurants with my Korean friends but this one seems to be the only one where a non-Korean can feel comfortably and not feel out of place ordering. The menu can be a bit overwhelming but the owners are really kind, nice and helpful even with their limited English. If I am around and looking for my stomach to be filled and at the same time chat with a buddy, I will definitely come here.

Overall very impressed with the food here. The portions are very generous(especially the noodle dishes). The service is good and friendly but you may have some trouble if you don’t know any Korean. If that’s the case, just point to what you want on the menu.(lots of pictures!) I would recommend checking it out especially if you desire Korean food in the area. Its better than other Korean restaurants I’ve tried around town. *jajang-myun!

I was recommended to try Kum Ki Wa by a couple of my Korean friends when Hee Rae Deung started to serve below average quality food. The owner is serving tables. She doesn’t seem experienced so you may have to ask her for plates or two. Nonetheless attentive otherwise & she’s a super nice lady. Food was great! Traditional Korean Chinese dishes as well as the known Korean dishes like bibimbap & seafood pancake.

You know I’m not really an expert when it comes to Korean food, all I know is I like it. Just in our neighbourhood opened up a small Korean-Chinese attached to the same building as Zone Bowling named Kum Ki Wa. Not knowing what anything is we started by asking for recommendations. The friendly servers were eager to give us advice. She asked if we liked it spicy and we said no problem and ordered the Kanpoongyuk — Sweet and spicy deep fried pork with garlic sauce for $ 16.99 The deep fried pork was awesome, a huge dish that is good to share with 3 people was a nice way to start. Next we ordered the Spicy Samsun Jajangmyun — Spicy assorted seafood, black bean sauce & pork noodle for $ 9.99. This one was a bit spicier than the last dish and it too was delicious. Overall I’ll be glad to go back again, good food and friendly service is a welcome addition to our neighbourhood. Can’t wait to try out some of their other dishes.
