Well what do you say about a sushi place that your addicted to. I go here for takeout at least once a week and it’s always the freshest salmon, tuna, vegetables, etc. I can’t get enough.

Good was pretty good. I’m not a huge sushi fan so I tend to get the rest of the stuff and my husband gets sushi. My friend and husband seemed to really enjoy the sushi. Only complaint was the spicy mayo was miracle whip. The tempura, pad Thai, spring rolls etc were pretty standard. Not bad. Biggest complaint was the wait times. We were there for 2 hours and didn’t leave feeling even that full. It was a lot of waiting and we all felt like they might of missed a lot of things we had ordered. We tended to make a bigger list and send it in all out once so I’m not sure if we should of been doing lots of small orders or not. Either way service was so slow. It was very frustrating

Food is alright. The tempura was a bit oily, the deep-fried tofu was terrible. Maki and nigiri were okay, but I found the rice a bit under seasoned and undercooked. The maki rolls were a bit messy and presentation leaved a lot be desired. The service was HORRIBLE. The hostess was rude/notably agitated, and handed us the menus at the front and told us to find table 3 ourselves. This is the first time I’ve ever been given the menus and told to find our own table like that ever. Our drink orders showed up 5+ minutes apart. Food was brought to us and thrown on the table(our plates often wobbled afterwards) and dropped off without a word. We were never once offered refills on our drinks and we had to physically flag someone down after 45 minutes. For additional orders we had to flag someone down again, and were never asked. We were never thanked after payment. The food is okay, but there are better AYCE sushi places in Halifax if you can go. In Dartmouth, I would certainly rate it better than Genji.

Man, I had high hopes for this place after having a decent experience at other all you can eat restaurants, but this one fell completely flat. The waitress shoved three menus into my boyfriends hands, pointed across the room, said«there’s your table» and walked away. What the hell kind of service is that? I understand that you’re busy, but seriously? She was flat out rude. We were not off to a good start. It took over ten minutes to receive my drink and over a half hour to receive our food. When it did arrive, the order was wrong. We received items we didn’t order and in varying amounts — like two orders of mushrooms only to receive five. The mushrooms were still raw in the middle, our shrimp tempura was disgustingly greasy, the rolls were rushed and messy looking, and the tofu was barely edible. Overall, all of our food was either mediocre or gross. I had to basically jump a waitress to get a second order of food for our table which we didn’t even want to bother getting but we had already committed and wanted to get our money’s worth. On top of that, everyone working there looked like they were miserable and couldn’t wait to leave, and it showed in the service. Barely a word said to us, and no one bothered to check if everything was okay. At least we were offered a refill on our waters. That was probably the only positive thing that happened our entire visit. I can’t believe we drove all the way to Dartmouth from Halifax to try this place. Next time I’ll go to Sushi Jet for AYCE, where I know at least the service won’t treat us like we are some kind of inconvenience.

Just came from Mizu arrived at 430 pm. First order took 15 minutes to receive. We got 4 out of 7 items we ordered. Waited 38 minutes for someone to acknowledge me and actually take my second order. It arrived 20 – 30 minutes later and was for the most part COLD. Final order was received 7 pm, yes that’s 2 hrs and 30 min. Saw a waiter actually take a plate of food from a table next to us that a lady was eating from and put it on another persons table! The lady from the first table had to tell the other table not to eat from it as she had ate from it. The then handed it back WTF? While waiting for someone to bring a bill we actually received 2 items from my original order from over 2 hrs before. Items were cold and actually had congealed grease on them. Some of my Sushi has salmon that was turning brown as well, This was my third visit and the service and food was good the first time and while the service was slow the second time the quality was still good. I am sorry to say that both service and quality has taken a nose dive in my opinion. I will not be returning.

My husband and I went out to celebrate our 7 year anniversary. We only go out to a sit down restaurant twice a year and sushi is almost always our«go to» choice. We’ve tried many places are the HRM — he even proposed in a sushi restaurant! Generally you are suppose to be at an AYCE style restaurant for about 1 ½ hours. This time frame is even listed at their tables, on the place mat. It also talks about not wasting food, so to be a good customer, you order in waves, which generally gives you a nice stream of food arriving at your table. However, we were there for almost 3 hours, but not by our choice. Several tables were seated in our section at the same time as us. They ordered, ate, and finished in under 45 minutes, and seemed to have ordered about the same types/amounts of items we had. 1st round we ordered: Goyza, Chicken wing, Golden shrimp, Misu salad, Shrimp tempura, Misu udon, Japanese shrimp ramen, and Kimchi. We ordered and our food items trickled out. Slowly. It’s took 30 minutes to get our 2 chicken wings and goyza. Then we waited another 30 minutes for our tempura and salad. After watching everyone around us get miso soup, we had to finally ask if we could have our order of it. Sadly, the kimchi we ordered didn’t make it to our table. At this point we realized we had to go «all in» and hope that we get some food to our table during the night. We put in the rest of our choices and waited. We ordered 8 pieces of assorted sushi. They came out before the rest of our first order was still in the kitchen. The spicy salmon was good. The rest were nothing special. At this point we finally got our noodles. Then we waited for the Maki… For an hour. After watching table after table receive their rolls we finally said that was enough and asked where ours were. I had a hangry moment and shed tears, not knowing why everyone had food coming out but us. They said that they lost our order. The manager stopped everything in the sushi kitchen to make our order. Which was nice of them, however in their haste, the rolls were just tossed together and fell apart when you picked them up. Disappointing. Overall the rolls didn’t have much rice or fish. My husband said we should try to order one more time and see what happens. We ordered some more rolls and a few more goyza and spring rolls. They came in a reasonable amount of time(finally!)The rolls were seriously lacking rice and were overwhelming filled with avocado. We didn’t order dessert, we were just too tired and wanted to go home. For $ 25 dollars each we could have easily gone to another sushi place and had timely, well made, high quality food. We had high hopes for this place as it came recommended, however next time we will go elsewhere. They would have gotten a better star rating if the sushi part of AYCE sushi was actually good. I’d probably get better maki and sushi at Sobeys.

The lunch all-you-can-eat is a STEAL! The food is fresh and mostly good. All the sushi/maki/rolls were average, but for the price(I think it was $ 15 for lunch AYCE?) it’s definitely a good deal! We all left there absolutely stuffed and didn’t even have space for supper later on! Things to try: spicy miso soup, green curry chicken(although, it’s quite sweet), mango roll, spicy crispy hand roll(it’s just tempura, no meat, but I really liked it!) Things to avoid(in my opinion): pad thai, coconut rice(its just rice with coconut syrup on it), kimchi(this is NOT kimchi) Give it a try! There’s not much to lose at less than $ 20 for all you can eat!

I would give this place 4.5 if I could. They only lose half a point due to the fact that it can sometimes take a server quite a long time for something as simple as a water refill when the place is a bit busier. That being said, we will definitely be repeat customers for many years to come. The décor is stylish and modern with a hint of Asian flair. The staff is courteous and helpful. And of course, the food is DELICIOUS! For 14 bucks a person and all you can eat this is one of the best deals going. I usually start off with a Miso or Dumpling soup, which is so tasty and gently wakes up the appetite. Then I move on to spring rolls, chicken skewers, and Pad Thai. At this point I’m usually on to their various Sushi options, with the peanut avocado by far my favorite so far. For dessert the fried banana with ice cream is so yummy and is definitely a recommended way to end a delicious meal. Even if you’re not a huge Sushi person they have plenty of traditional Asian fare as well. A must try, at least once!

I have tried this place more than once and every time it’s been poor probably because most of the staff do not converse in English so we kept getting things we never ordered.

My first visit was so amazingly great ! I have been to several AYCE sushi places, both in halifax and Ontario. *** i went on a Friday at lunch time, although it was quite busy, the service was really great, and the food was really fresh and quick. We had assorted tempura, spring rolls, gyoza to start. Then the spicy salmon and tuna arrived. The tempura was crispy, not greasy at all. The rolls where delicious, just the right amount of spicy sauce. The spring rolls where also crispy, not greasy. The gyoza where fried, i prefer steamed, but they were also good. we then tried some pad thai, maybe not a good choice if having sushi. …just a different taste palate. although it was tasty. we tried some edamame, hard to screw that up :) And the mango house roll. …very fresh qnd tatsy as well. we finished up with green tea ice cream. The service was perfect throughout the entire meal, refilling our water glasses, taking away empty plates. Had a nice conversation as we paid the bill(only 16.09) WILLBEBACKFORSURE! !!

Wonderful restaurant!!! I went for lunch, $ 13.99 for all i could eat and i ate!!! Everything I tried was delicious. There were so many servers, I never had to wait for someone to take my orders or clear the empty plates, they were so nice, fast and helpful since this was my first time. It’s been a little over a week since I’ve been there and can’t wait to go back!!! Definitely a place worth trying even if you don’t like sushi, there is so much other food to try.

I must say I was completely wrong about this place. When I see all-you-can-eat, I walk on by. Not interested in low quality places designed for gluttonous people. Boy was I wrong. This isn’t what I thought. It is a wonderful experience. You pay one price and then order a few dishes — they have more than excellent fresh sushi — they have Thai dishes as well. We would order a couple of rolls and sip our wine and then order a tempura… and then a rice and curry dish… it was o much fun. I would definitely go back. Their takeout is excellent! Their wine selection is terrible but what can you do?

I love All You Can Eat Sushi restaurants. This one by far one of the best I have been too. The selection of food items is much bigger than what I usually see. Everything I ordered was good. The sashimi was so FRESH and the slices nice and thick… certainly NOT skimpy here. The Edamame was nice and hot, lightly salted… just perfect. The desert selection was great too besides my usual Red bean ice cream also tried the mango pudding… wanted to try the mango ice cream too or the coconut pudding but no room left. Service was friendly and attentive. Certainly will eat here again on my next business trip to this area.

Great place. I have tried Wasabi Sushi House(Sackville) and Happy Sushi(Clyton Park) and Genji(Dartmouth). This is how they ranked: This was the best experience over all. Best Sachimi and dinner rolls goes to Wasabi. Best Lunch Menu and Sushi Rolls was Genji Best overall experience and setup and large menu and variety/service goes to Mizu. I will go there again for sure.

It Sunday may 102015 I just ate at your resturant I was unable to eat your sushi the spicy salmon I ordered was room temp or higher and the Texture Was mush I could not even pick it up without it completely falling apart More then likely I’m at least going to get diarrhea and I hope not sick from the one piece I did eat and to top this all off you chartered me 25.99 minus 15% WOW!!! I should explain it was not the piece of sushi roll that fell apart it was the fish that disintegrated as soon as I try to pick it up inside the sushi roll

I’ve gotten accustomed to the sushi grind of downtown Halifax, but as I live in Dartmouth, I only actually found out that Mizu existed a couple days prior to this review, so I had to go check it out! I had gone in seeing mixed reviews between here on Unilocal and other websites, so I figured I’d best give this place a shot. Walking in I was immediately greeted by one of the super friendly wait staff and taken to a table where I was seated, and the first thing I was asked is if I’d been here before, naturally«no» … he gave me all the information I needed about how the menu worked, and pricing etc. It’s fantastic– the only thing with a set price on the entire menu are the drinks! Seeing a prior review below, Mizu is now fully licensed and has a fair selection of beer and wine to choose from, as well as the standard pop choices and they have blended smoothie-type drinks as well. There’s honestly so much selection that I’ll keep the rest of the review fairly short. Just keep that in mind when you go in, so much to pick! Lots of appetizers and other dishes to choose from if you like more of a «meal» type thing(even though you’re piecing it together as you like) and a nice selection of various sushi, be it a handroll, your typical maki, nigiri or sashimi. I was blown away by the quality of the fish that was used, I’ve eaten at other,(even more upscale) restaurants in the city where their fish didn’t taste as good as Mizu. So I must say they definitely pride themselves on quality ingredients. Everything was served immediately after it was freshly prepared for you, what was supposed to be hot was hot, and everything else was the ideal temperature it should’ve been. Every«order» was always quick to come out and every single thing I ordered was plated and presented with care and overall just as pleasant to look at as it was to eat. My inaugural meal at Mizu was, as best as I can remember(I tried so much!): miso soup, sweet potato tempura, white tuna sashimi, red tuna nigiri, egg nigiri and sashimi, a sweet potato maki, avocado nigiri, beef teriyaki, beef ramen. with a scoop of mango ice cream for dessert. All that being said, I have absolutely nothing negative to say about Mizu at all. Incredible food, great staff, clean and welcoming. I’ve found myself my new sushi place for certain. The one thing I could even say as something remotely like a «con» for the restaurant would be they have just a regular«poppy/top10» sort of radio station playing softly over their sound system, and I bring that up for the fact I’m not a fan of that sort of music. Otherwise, overwhelmingly fantastic place to eat!

Really like this AYCE! It’s so nice to have two on the Dartmouth side. It does beat Genji in some respects but not all. I need it try it from the dinner options to truly know but two times for lunch and very pleased. I have my go-to items of sashimi which are excellent — really generous on the fish portions too(white tuna, spicy salmon which I would not call spicy but is delicious, and red snapper). Goza, spring rolls, both my girlfriend likes a lot and shrimp tempura which I love. I do think that is also a bit better at Genji. The tiny pieces of steak with garlic also not as good. I believe the pieces are too small and tough perhaps as perhaps easily over cooked. The mushroom dish was excellent. We don’t typically get the Thai noodle or rice and stir fry options so cannot comment. Glad they too have edamame but they don’t offer the seaweed salad at lunch but Genji does. For the maki choice my friend got the crispy crab and really liked it. She also liked the California hand roll. Next time I think I need to order outside the norm as they have options not available at other places. Now the reason I gave them a 4 star when some equal items are not as good as Genji is the service and the cleanliness. This place gets a 5 star for that. If you think it’s just sushi, it’s not — take a chance on this place and you will be pleasantly surprised as there is something for everyone I’d wager.
