I have always been a huge supporter of sears and have been verry concerned for this location as it is a skeleton of what it once was. So when we bought a new house and decided to get all new appliances it was the only place i wanted to go. For there reputation and also to support them. I have bought appliances theye before and always had good luck. So off we went and and in less than a hour we had a fridge, stove, washer and dryer, vacuum and an ice maker for the fridge, all good salesman was grate, experience was a-1. When we pluged the fridge in it didn’t work. Called the salesman and he gave us a 1800 # to someone how we couldn’t understand and long story short would get a call back in 24 hr for an appointment. Not. Call again same thing 24 hrs. Not call the salesman back and he called same thing 24hrs. 5 days already with no fridge we call again and they say ther was no appointment ever made, so we take the thing back and push it in the door and wouldn’t you know they want to help us now, but too late. We go somewhere else and have one that night, however there is an issue with that one as well but they came out the next day first thing in the morning and offered us a new one after looking at it, LIKEITSHOULDBEDONE! !!! Sears just lost my business! Also when we where on the phone for service all they wanted to do was sell us more warranty on all our new stuff, but they apparently never come out to fix it!!!

Coming from a small town, Sears has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. Lots of things in our house came from the Sears catalogue. And of course many childhood hours were spent pouring over the Christmas Wishbook. These days it’s still a part of my life but with so many more shopping options, less so. We did get our current washer and dryer from Sears and it’s still my go to place for my Clinique bonus time purchases. And every once in awhile I do find a great sale on kitchen appliances and gadgets. And who doesn’t love the Sears White Sale. I don’t think I’ve ever gone to this store when it’s very busy, in fact, most times when I stop in on my way home from work I feel like I’m the only person in the store. Service can be hit or miss but if you want lots of attention just even glance at an appliance and you’ve got it. I hope this location sticks around as it is convenient and still a part of my list of places to comparison shop.

I recently visited this store for the first time since the rest of Penhorn mall was torn down. The store is rather sad looking, it looks like its right out of 1995. This store doesn’t really have anything to offer to someone my age, but my grandmother was able to find a few pieces of clothes for her and her brother. If Sears wants to survive, they are going to have to adapt — I think I was the only person in the store under 40.

I have a hard time with Sears. It seems to be the most recommended spot to visit for new appliances and big ticket home stuff but the service is an authentic throwback to the used car salesmen of the eighties and nineties. There’s always a slimy introduction from some guy who’s pretending to relate to you at all costs, there’s always a nicer model than the one you went in for, there’s always a reason why any objection you have is silly, and you’re never more important than the person who looks closer to making the purchase. They seem to have a decent selection, an okay product knowledge, lots of parking, and all the little things that make these sort of excursions a little easier, but it doesn’t do much to make up for feeling like the weak gazelle as sales folks prowl around your every move.

I’m always looking for opportunities to give business to Canadian companies, so naturally, when my 30 year old washer recently went on a fritz, I turned to Sears. The older salesman who met with us was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He took his time to show us each washer in detail and to explain in human English how it fared in comparison to the others. We were fortunate to find a washer that met all of our criteria and was on sale for an excellent price. We are very pleased with our purchase and I’d recommend others to buy appliances there as well. The only downfalls are that you have to wait approximately 5 days for appliances to be shipped to the store, and delivery is only free for purchases of $ 1000 or more, otherwise it’s $ 60.
