Our wraps were good. Fresh, and tasty. However the coconut carrot quinoa soup tasted like porridge. The tomato bean was better but nothing special. The guy put through our order, played with his phone and headphones then proceeded to make our order. Not impressed.

Jerk chicken salad is worth checking out, and the extra meat option increases the amount of chicken to roughly 8oz. In the last few years they’ve sent the way of a different(and cheaper) beef that maxes many of the other salads unpalatable. That coupled with the cost of most items could offer a deterrent to many potential customers.

I really like this place. I have been there a couple times and always get the jerk chicken salad. My husband has tried a couple other salads there that he didn’t like as much. I love the jerk chicken because it has a bit of spice, goat cheese, and mangos in it. I also found out that the owners are Red Seal chefs which is really cool! They have a lot of options for healthy meals– salads, wraps, bowls and pasta. They even have frozen yogurt. The portion sizes are quite large– the small was enough for my dinner. It’s kind of hidden in the back of the wild earth café. Great find on campus!

I think I am the only person who didn’t see past good earth and notice The Greenhouse. My fiancée and I tried The Greenhouse today for the first time. I was very excited when we started to read the menu board. Lots of healthy unique options to choose from. I tried the Greens&Protein salad and my fiancée had the Yo Jerk salad. We both enjoyed our salads and the service was awesome. All the guys were up beat and helpful. Liked it so much I am going back tomorrow for lunch!

I made a second visit May 28⁄14. I had the Brazilian salad — entrée size — along with carrot-quinoa-coconut soup, and a roasted vegetable wrap. All the food was excellent especially the Brazilian salad which has some slices of grilled tofu. It is the best salad I ever had. I had mine without cheese. I forgot to mention ‘no cheese’ when I ordered but the server knew I didn’t want cheese and was kind enough to make sure my salad was cheese-free. The soup was delicious and the wrap was a healthy snack. While the pricing is a little steep and the eating area somewhat dim, this eatery is an excellent choice for health conscious people. It is very busy during lunch times. Free parking is hard to find near the university location. There is another location downtown where I am guessing that paid parking is required if you can’t find metered parking. Overall a great place to eat for vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals.

Lousy, lousy, lousy! Had the Caesar salad, isn’t there supposed to be lettuce in a salad? Well the lettuce in mine should have been thrown in the garbage! This was supposed to be a Caesar salad, not sure what dressing they use but it sucked and I had to go home and brush my teeth to get rid of the after taste. The chicken was severely over cooked almost jerky like and tasted like cardboard, but there was a generous amount(sarcasm). So how did this get good reviews, am I one of those few who gets bad meals wherever I go or is this university students who don’t cook for themselves and think that this is good healthy food. Won’t be back.

I adore this place! I love the variety of healthy dishes on their menu. The pricing is a bit high for an every day lunch but perfect on the days you are craving something healthy. The staff are always friendly. They do great catering as well.

I love that the calories are posted, you can pick your own protein, vegetarian friendly. Every day while visiting get as the hospital I would order A rice bowl and a salad to go. This is one of the only healthy fast food places to eat near the hospital or university. Price is 12 – 14.50 $ Meals are pre measured so there is little flexibility in removal of any ingredients, I was able to remove cheese. They also have frozen yogurt on the menu.

«Four-and-a-half stars? WTF?» Proclaimed my «salad-expert» wife after tasting her mediocre, overpriced($ 14???) salad. Sure, it’s healthy and preservative free, but salads aren’t particularly complicated or pricy to make. The flavours aren’t exactly pronounced, and the dressings seemed to tend to the oily side. Edmonton needs a great salad-oriented chain, but this isn’t going to be it.

To call these«salads» is a bit of a distraction. They are warm slabs of grilled meat/tofu/vegetables on a bed of spinach presented in a salad bowl. And it’s more than just taking a piece of chicken out of the cooler, slicing it up and putting it on top of a traditional salad. I ordered the Brazilian, which is grilled tofu, chickpeas, red peppers, mushrooms, and a pile of garlic on a spinach bed with some grated cheese in between. Aside from the spinach and cheese those ingredients cooked together on the grill and marinated in something awesome(or each other). The result was served hot, spicy and delicious. One of the best vegetarian restaurant meals I’ve had in a while.

It is located in the university area of Edmonton. Coffee shop style. Healthy food. Large portion salads with beef or chicken and mixed greens or spinach salad. Has beans, cashews etc. I couldn’t finish my meal, as it was huge. Only thing is you have to pay for parking which is $ 5. There are 2 cafes in this building and this one is located in the back behind the coffee shop. Reasonably priced. Very healthy.

This is a wonderful spot to grab a healthy lunch when you are on Campus. But even if you are not, it is worth the drive! The salad’s are healthy, well balanced and I must say, packed with protein — I think there was more chicken then spinach! I can definitely justify spending $ 9 on a salad when it has that much protein. I was starving when I ordered, I got the small size because I figured for $ 9 it had to be filling enough for me and, it was! I was stuffed and in the good way. The space that the Greenhouse occupies if quite large and also has a coffee shop in it. The seating is comfortable and well spaced out. It is a perfect place to have a business meeting, casual date or strap in for a few hours or work/study. There is a patio out front and parking lot beside it. I can tell that I will be spending a lot more time in this place!

This place has two sizes for the salads which is great in case you are not too hungry or are hungry. When I first saw the prices I shocked that they charge $ 14 for a Caesar salad, but when I save how big it was and how much salad, chicken and turkey bacon they put in it I was surprised it was not 20 bucks a bowl. It is a very«green» place to eat, mix between take out and or a sit down meal where your salad comes in a ceramic bowl. Overall very impressed and will be a repeat customer as long as I’m at the U of A.

I adore this place, it’s a must eat-at if you are on or anywhere campus. The salads are amazing and are very healthy… the perfect brain food for studying! The staff are really friendly and the menu is absolutely fantastic. There are tons of combinations of salads I could have never dreamt up. Quinoa in my salad? sure why not. Coconut lime vinaigrette? How do I make that? Seriously you guys… if you love salad as much as I do, you need to give this place a try! My only complaint is the limited hours of operations. Many times I’ve wandered over from the business building only to find it closed =(. Greenhouse, stay open longer and I will give you five stars!

Tasty, but pricey for casual/quick lunch. Very interesting salads, with protein combinations that are different, but well-matched.

The Greenhouse has been on my to-try list for quite a while, but I’m never in the area. Salad is my favourite food so I was excited to go there. Now that I’ve started a job at the University, I made plans with my aunt to go for lunch there. I didn’t realize it was combined with/in the same space as Good Earth, so that confused me for half a second when I was trying to find the door. It’s nice to have the two options in one space, though. I narrowed down my choices to the You Jerk(Jamaican inspired — $ 14) or the two salmon salads($ 14.50). I asked the guy behind the counter and he suggested the You Jerk as I’d never been there before and it was more of a signature salad. I appreciated that he didn’t try to upsell me, but actually suggested what he thought tasted better. He brought the salads out to us shortly aferwards. For some reason another guy was calling out numbers and people had to go to the counter to pick up their food, so not sure why he brought them out to us, but it was nice. The You Jerk was really unique for a salad. Full, and I mean brimming full, with chicken, spinich, and mango. There is also feta and cranberries. The dressing had some heat to it, and some sweet. I liked it and first but it was a bit overwhelming for a salad. My aunt had the Running Wild and it was a lot lighter tasting. The salads are very big, but I was hungry and I did finish mine. There are a few other salads on the menu that I would like to try. However, I’m not sure I’ll go very often because $ 14 for a salad is crazy expensive, even if there are some unique combos. I’m not sure how university students can afford to eat there. Everybody can make a salad.

The salads here are fantastic, without a doubt. I had a Running Wild, which is a grilled chicken breast, spinach, quinoa, carrots, trail mix, chickpeas, sweet potato, boiled egg, and a light balsamic dressing. The chicken was freshly grilled, and the flavour combination worked well(although the quinoa added more texture than flavour). Service was friendly and the place is nice. So why did I not give The Greenhouse five stars? The prices. I had an appetizer which cost $ 10 — it was the perfect size for a mid-afternoon snack, but a little high. A full meal salad costs from $ 13-$ 15 and if you want bread service, that is extra. Many full service restaurants have a variety of gourmet salads for that price range, with bread. It is difficult to justify spending that much in a(slightly one step above) fast food salad place. Despite how good the salad was, I could not see myself ordering one often. However, other items on the menu intrigued me, such as the frozen yogurt and fruit, wraps, and paella rice bowls. These items are a bit lower in price, so I would be more likely to venture back to try one of them before shelling out $ 10-$ 15 on a salad.

Don’t get me wrong ladies, the Greenhouse definitely has some great salads. Probably some of the best in Edmonton, although I’ve probably eaten two salads in town that weren’t made at a relative’s house. But as a man, I just can’t justify $ 13 on a freakin’ salad. That just doesn’t sit well with me. Maybe it’s because salads just don’t fill me up at all so I don’t feel like I’m getting my money’s worth. You could get some kick ass gourmet burgers for that kind of money! You’ll definitely love this place if you’re a woman, I can count on that.
