Probably one of the best places to eat in Kamloops, which is not saying much. There were not a lot of great eating spots in the city. Mostly just places with food where you can leave and say… I am full. The Brownstone was really just middle of the road. I would say it is a good place to go to if you are in Kamloops as it may be one of the best places to eat. The outside seating area is a pretty quaint area. You are on small tables with red brick walls on all sides. The service is just okay. My water was always full and the server checked on us throughout. Like I said, just an okay place. Nothing to write your mother about.

Lunch is open from 11am-2pm. We decided to make our way for some early lunch. We arrived at 11:30am and was promptly seated. After listening to the lunch special and pouring over the menu, we decided on bison burger and oyster po’boy. We placed our orders at 11:49am. Lunches arrive at 11:57am. The meals are delicious and large portions! For the price we paid($ 14 – 15), it is well worth it. The food is well seasoned and ingredients used are fresh. We will definitely come back again.

This restaurant is a gem. Great old building. We ate in the courtyard outside which was a real treat. Food was excellent. We both had the romaine salad and then the salmon and chicken biryani. Ambience is fist class as was the service. Didn’t think I would find this quality in Kamloops.

This nicely restored building was built in 1910 as a bank and later became a jail. The Brownstone has been here for 11 years and deserves to stay here. The Romaine salad was fresh and tasty, with bacon a surprise in what is nearly a Caesar. The Chicken Biryani was a bit short of the expected Indian flavoring, and the described almonds were absent, added later by request. Butternut squash ravioli is a winner. Hot rosemary baguette slices were wonderful. Our shared flourless chocolate cake came with vanilla ice cream and was drizzled with caramel. The prices seem about right for this level of a restaurant. Ours came to $ 66 plus tax and tip.

I have been here a few times and it’s consistently good. Decent wine list and locally sourced food. I have had the duck a few times and it’s worth a try.

After we attempted to go to Terra and it was full, the gal there recommended Brownstone. I am SO glad she did! It was delicious! This was one of our pit stops on our drive from Calgary to Vancouver. The service was super friendly, though a bit short handed it seemed, and the food was delish! We had a speciality cocktail called Black Sage and then appetizers consisting of romaine salad, beet salad, and mussels that were all awesome. For dinner I had the lamb that had an accompanying Harissa sauce. YUMYUMYUM! And for dessert the flourless chocolate cake was the best I’ve ever had!(no joke) I would definitely recommend this place!

The food is excellent. All of their proteins are nose to tail cuts. I love it! Dale and Connie are fantastic hosts. The food is delicious and fresh. The menu selection is great; not too much and not to little. I recommend this place to anyone visiting Kamloops.

Wonderful! The décor is extremely appealing with small areas apart from each other so conversation can happen. I would highly recommend the orange and beet salad. It is on the large side but sooooo good. For the main course I had the halibut delicious ! My partner had the meatballs recommended by the server. Amazing, a bit of a bite to them. He also had their wine recommendation and really liked it. High praise from a bit of a wine snob. The desserts looked great but we had no room left so will have to return.

Family came here for moms birthday last year. Was an absolute delight. She was blown away by the quality of meat, the perfectly cooked dinner and lovely service. Everyone here was happy, helpful, and ready to serve. Although it’s pricey, it’s worth EVERYPENNY. I’d go back here in a heartbeat.

Best spinach salad ever and I’m a spinach freak. Outstanding service, excellent wines and deliciously fresh entrees all made for a most memorable repast and visit to Kamloops.

Without question, Brownstone is the best restaurant in Kamloops. Do not miss out on the chance to sample Dale’s braised beef or his dish of pork 3 ways. Truly excellent. Also excellent is their current appetizer sampler platter — my husband and I shared it the other night, and there was almost a fork battle over each item! I also love their creative drink specials, and their ever-changing dessert share plates. People sometimes think of it as a «fancy» restaurant, but in reality, the prices are the same as or lower than Earl’s or Milestones. Yet, in contrast to these chain-style restaurants, Brownstone uses fresh, local ingredients, expertly prepared to order every time. The menu is always creative, and it changes often. Contrary to the previous reviewer, I have never thought of the portions as small. It’s not the type of restaurant where you leave hungry. The service is always excellent, and you simply cannot get better value for a dining experience in Kamloops. It is my absolute favourite restaurant in Kamloops, whether I’m looking for a quick lunch, a casual dinner or a special occasion place. A close second is Terra Restaurant up the street. Also great food and great value.
