Came for the jjajangmyeon, and got what I wanted. It was a bit too salty for my taste, but doesn’t mean I won’t be back though. Very accessible restaurant from the street, inside is a dimly lit setting, with K-pop as background music. The portion of jjajangmyeon was larger than it looked, and I was quite full by the time I finished it. Planning to come back and try many more things off their menu!

I know nothing of hot pot at all; I come strictly for the bimbimbap. They do a really nice bulgogi but the spicy pork option is my go-to. They’ll keep the tea hot and filled to the brim and if you ask, you can have seconds(or thirds?) of the sides — I love the potatoes. Generally a popular spot on princess, and one that I’ll keep coming back to.

It’s my favourite place for bibimbap in Kingston, and it’s quite reasonably priced. Their sushi is also quite good and pretty cheap. The hotpot service was quite underwhelming and way overpriced for what you get, compared to other places. The bbq ribs were also small and of poor quality for the price. I won’t be going back for hotpot and wouldn’t recommend it. If you stick to bibimbap and sushi though this is definitely a great place, which is why I’m still giving it 4 stars.

Nice enough place and good location, so I stopped in for lunch today and tried the bulgogi bibimbap lunch special, with edamame. The meal came with miso soup(surprisingly good, though not as hot as I’d expect) and a selection of various Korean style salad-y thing which were also good. Bean sprouts, a sweetish potato dish, and some kind of slightly spicy crunchy pickle. The edamame was also fine. The bibimbap was a disappointment however. It LOOKED like everything you’d expect, served up in a hot stone bowl, and the bulgogi beef itself was good, but the rest of the dish was very bland. I won’t claim to be a bibimbap expert but I’ve eaten it in several other Korean places and I expect a mix of Korean style vegetables on the rice, and a fairly distinctive flavor from the seasonings used. This had neither. It was barely more than rice with if strips of fried onions and green bell peppers(I’ve never seen bell peppers in bibimbap before), some random shredded carrots, and a couple of sad zucchini slices, and all it tasted of was the onions and bell peppers. Tried adding the provided hot sauce, but it was just hot sauce and just made it spicy and bland instead of non spicy bland. Super disappointing. :(Hopefully their other dishes are better, as the restaurant looks very nice and there were lots of other options that might be worth trying, but go elsewhere for your bibimbap.

I’ve been here a number of times, ordering something different each time and the food has always been good! I’d recommend the udong noodles, the chicken bibimbap and pork bone soup. Prices are around the same as every other surrounding asian fusion restaurants. And ofc I love the side dishes that come along!

Hwaki’s stone bowl Bimbibap is hard to beat anywhere else. It is so tasty and warm, making every meal worth while. Also try their avocado salad and steamed meat gyozas(they make great appetizers). Favourite Japanese/korean restaurant in town!

Not bad, not amazing. The environment is nice — dark wood, a nice modern Asian-fusion feel, and the server was also very friendly. My friend and I had the sashimi and raw bibimbap(pretty much donburi), which were both good enough, but nothing exceptional. The prices(~$ 15 for each dish) in proportion are not cheap but are acceptable, given the the casual Asian fusion décor and the non-«student-lyfe» atmosphere. I might come back, as an easy choice for casual Asian food when I care about the décor.
