Women, AVOID this restaurant, especially if you are dining solo. BEWARE of a male who either works there, or is a frequent customer. When my colleagues and I went in for a work lunch about a month ago and I was verbally sexually harassed by this man infront of my colleagues. He constantly interrupted our conversation to make wildly inappropriate comments about me(I’m a young Indo-Canadian woman), ask about my marital status, hitting on me, make stereotypes about Indian women… I shudder to think of how horrible it would have been if I was there for lunch alone instead of with two other people. My colleague informed me that he went back last week and this man was there again! He is either a frequent customer or might be their delivery person/staff. I will not go to this restaurant again, for fear of being harassed by this creepy man. And I certainly will not order take out from them either, if he is infact their delivery person. This is all especially concerning if he is infact staff. I was told that their management has changed over the past half year or so, and this might have something to do with it. Not worth going to this restaurant, especially considering the food is average. Not spicy at all, and rather bland. Their Saag Paneer it too watery/oily.

Just finished an amazing meal here. All we can say is wow. The food was awesome! I ordered the chicken curry plate and hubby had the lamb curry plate. When I asked about the heat level the server accurately told me that the have a mild version as their starting point but chef could make it more spicy if I liked. I have a rule when eating at a new place to go mild to see if my version of mild was theirs too. Happy to report it was. The food was cooked with the skills of an authentic East Indian Chef. The tandoori oven gives the Naan bread a gorgeous crispy exterior where it hit the side of the oven. The flavors were spot on. Just delicious! The portions were huge and each of us couldn’t finish our meals and brought lots home to have as leftovers. Would highly recommend this place!

This is my favorite Indian place! Their food is yummy and the prices are great! Their staff is super friendly and super knowledgeable! I have eaten there more than 10 times over the past 3 years and NEVER had a complaint about anything. I tried different things on different days and it’s always delicious! I really love their Tikka Chicken Salad. The lettuce is always fresh and it’s not heavy if you’re looking for a lighter meal!

I think this restaurant is really good in a lot of ways but could be great if they made a few changes to some of their food. There is a lot of salt in the samosas– I suspect they are brought in frozen and wow they taste like it too, if the chef uses the same creative mind that created the tiki wrap I’m sure he can come up with a fantastic fresh baked vegetable samosa showcasing local fresh veggies– I wouldn’t mind paying double for a great in house made samosa! Imagine to go with this a in house tamarind sauce– now that could be great not just good! Overall I do enjoy the food and the price is reasonable, I would like to see chef re-inspire some of the menu.

We had the Mulligatawny soup, Saag Panner and Eggplant & Mushroom Torkari. We really liked the soup and the eggpant dish. The saag panner however wasn’t quite as creamy as I like and the paneer was really dry and hard. The dishes felt like they were laced with MSG, lots of it, even the rice was likely cooked with bouillon cubes. The price was fairly reasonable and the service, very friendly.

At first glance it has a poor appeal, but the food was decent and we enjoyed the friendly service.

When you first walk in the store is not that great. However it is not that bad. The first dish we had was the chicken biryani, which was about 3⁄5 stars. Wasn’t that strong or have that nice biryani taste. The second dish was the butter chicken and the curry chicken was good 3.5÷5. The naan was also fine . Okay for groups, paid parking ‚ Overall a solid 3 to 3.5 stars out of 5.

I think many of the reviews here have already commented on all the food items that are problematic. I would just add that I seem to get really sick in stomach every time I go here and that primarily due to their use of «Shan Masala». Shan is a boxed spice product coming from India/Pakistan and is very commonly used in south Asian cuisine. On a positive note the ambiance and service are decent and the vegetable thali is not so bad.

Ok. Where to begin… Ordered from here for the first time and got the chicken madras and an order of steamed basmati rice. The curry was sub par and didn’t have any flavors that distinguished it as a madras curry. Very tomato-y, watery and has chunks of tomato and bell peppers in it. Name me one Indian dish that has bell peppers in it. Seriously. In their defense they do advertise to add«twists» to popular Indian dishes and I suppose it’s entirely my fault to expect authentic Indian food from a place that has a chicken tikka pizza. But I would never dream of giving a place 1 star due to a lapse of judgement on my part. No. This place gets 1 star for the rice they had the nerve of selling to me. What can only be described as a sticky yellow pudding stared me in the face when I opened the take out container. I have ordered my fair share of steamed basmati rice from other joints and while some clumping and sticking can be expected due to steam build up, this was almost a solid mass and the texture resembled a sticky pudding as it stuck to my fork, leaving a starchy gel coating it. That’s not all. The color of this rice was yellow. No — not ghee or perhaps saffron. No no. This was some sort of oil. Vegetable oil perhaps mixed with ghee but definitely not olive oil. This gave the rice a stale funny smell and a taste that just was not normal. I have been eating rice my whole life and I expected nothing less than that aromatic basmati smell and taste when I order from an Indian place. The rice failed on all counts — sight, smell, taste and texture and the combination of it all will hopefully make you understand why I am going on a rant about rice. Absolutely disgraceful and the chef should be ashamed to ever let anything like this come out of his kitchen. Such an elementary dish, screwed 6 ways from Sunday and I find the name of the place ironic.

The food is sometimes delicious, sometimes not. I had wonderful butter chicken here the first time I ordered — the second and third time, my butter chicken was mostly sauce without much flavour, super watery, and maybe had six pieces of chicken in it. For something that expensive(price doesn’t include rice) it felt like a rip-off, and I was very disappointed. The naan is always very good, though, and the service is friendly!

Humm. I had kept in mind an averse impression of this place, but no where near 1 star worth. The staff was polite though not engaging. Our meal was presented to us with minimal decorum, meaning no coriander of herbs atop. I don’t believe we would come back but the business deserves more than it’s current rating.

The samosas was dripping of oil. Absolutely a health hasard. The salad was WORM!, the lamb was dry like the desert, and the sauce on top of my dry uncooked rice was few drops. I thru the food away after 3 bites.

Staff friendly but food was very poor. This was my first Indian in Ottawa and I was not impressed. Ordered a rogan josh and a vindaloo beef both sauces were watery and just was not up to scratch. The chapatti and naan was not good as well. the meal cost me $ 32 and I would say I felt I just threw money away. Never going to try it again!

Ugh… I never had such bad indian or Pakistani food in my life. Order butter chicken but I don’t know what I received(chicken without any taste and curry basically tamoto pure with out any spices). Biryani, as we say Allah Jane what was that(is it carrot rice or tamoto rice). In delivry they didn’t even give Raitha for biryani… I strongly suggest to not go there…

The staff is very friendly. The chicken biryani is delicious. However, the butter chicken and naan bread didn’t taste good. The naan was very doughy and the butter chicken was too sweet. The prices are reasonable.

I don’t understand the negative reviews. I’ve been eating here since it opened and I’ve never had a fatty piece of chicken. Their authentic tandoori ovens give excellent flavour to their delicious chicken and also make lovely naan. The price is very good. I love their house salad dressing. Nothing has ever been bland. Very tasty affordable food. It is also relaxing to sit in there to eat. Try their Thali plates at lunch to sample different things and find what you like best.

I so wanted to like this place because it’s one of the more reasonably priced Indian restaurants and pretty much the only place that delivers for orders under $ 25. However, after much anticipation I was very disappointed and won’t ever order from them again. I will say, delivery was super speedy and very friendly. That’s where the positives ended. The butter chicken was fatty and the sauce was bland and watery. The somosas were reheated though edible. The rice however, was dry and had a strange taste. I didn’t know it was possible to mess up rice! The garlic naan was burnt and not very tasty. The only«garlic» I could see was a light sprinkle of garlic powder. The portions were generous, but sadly I didn’t want to eat it and threw out the leftovers feeling very let down.

Just awful. I was looking forward to Indian delivery one night and ordered butter chicken and samosas. Butter chicken was way too sweet and there wasn‘t a lot of it for what I paid, the samosa was clearly microwaved. I do like to try things twice however, and one time I had a huge craving for some Indian food as I was at Hartmans across the street. I went in and got a little combination place, again the samosa was microwaved, the soup was okay(daal I think it was), but the curried chicken was disgusting, all fatty pieces of chicken and I believe tandoori was the other thing in the combination plate I got, really dry. Do yourself a favor and walk up to the New Nupur instead of this place.
