Walked in and was seen right away. All I wanted was a simple cut, and I got that no problem. The hair dresser was helpful in determining how much I actually wanted cut, and I was in and out quickly. No frills, got what I wanted. The atmosphere was a little lacklustre, but other than that, a good walk-in spot.

While I was shopping at Bayshore I remembered that I needed a haircut and I came across this place. Shopping and a haircut all in the same day? Very convenient. When I walked in, the lady at the desk was very friendly. She took my coat, answered my questions, and almost immediately I was assigned a hairdresser(and this was on a busy Saturday too). To be honest, when I sat down I was a little nervous because a lot of the people there getting their hair done were much older than I am. I was crossing my fingers that I wouldn’t get an old lady haircut. My hairdresser was quiet at first, but as I started making small talk and little jokes, he started opening up and we had good conversations about Ottawa and living downtown. I got a wash, cut, and blow-dry/style — and he(Jack I believe was his name) did a fantastic job. It wasn’t expensive either… my bill only came to $ 45. I haven’t tried getting highlights or a dye-job here, so I can’t speak to that, but if you’re looking for a simple cut, this place is a fine option.

I got my nails done here and never will again. I wanted them short because I am a cook and I would have to wear gloves for sanitation reasons. She said nobody has to know and I’m like I will know and I will not jeopardize anyone’s health for vanity. I wanted the natural look so she didn’t bother with polish or anything. They looked horrible and she kept stopping in the middle to finish another client. There was so much glue glopped on it was coming out from underneath. I complained and got a small discount, my nails are not the same after now that the fake ones are off. With that being said my boyfriend gets his hair cut here and they do a really good job but I will not spend a dime in there for myself.

Bayshore Hair Stylists and Spa officially holds the title of «Worst Salon Experience Ever» in my mind. I went there wanting a half head of foils and a haircut for my above shoulder length hair. The price they quoted to me was $ 105.00 –completely reasonable and I was excited about this! However, I was totally thrown off by the attitude of my stylist! First off, he did not greet me at all. He did not tell me his name and did not ask mine. He simply told me to sit in his chair asked what«what do you want, root touch up or…» I told him I hadn’t thought about that I was going to do a half head of foils. As I contemplatingly looked in the mirror thinking about this option for maybe 3 seconds he said«you have to tell me what you want me to do otherwise I don’t know!» I was completely thrown off by his rudeness. His attitude was a cross between impatience and a total lack of confidence and social skills. Here’s an idea: You’re the professional hair stylist, try making a suggestion and/or recommendation to you’re client! He wrapped the towel around my neck and put the gown on my and I just said«I guess I’ll go with foils…» He then responded with«what colour?» I dont know, my hair is blonde maybe make a suggestion! His customer service skills were seriously lacking to the point I almost felt sorry for him. I asked if I could see a book of options and he presented them to me. I asked him to try to match my current colour and then became fixated on my iphone to avoid conversation with him, which he seemed fine with. During this time though, I noticed the lack of cleanliness in the salon itself. There was hair all over the floor and the staff were sitting around chatting and reading newspapers! It just seemed filthy and like the staff were lazy. He did not put me under a dryer when I was waiting and simply started working with a new client while my foils were in. When he finished the foils I told him I no longer wanted a hair cut and we could just go straight for the blow-dry. He said that was fine and proceeded to blow dry it with a round brush. He asked if I usually straightened my hair and I said yes but that he does not have to(I wanted out of there as soon as possible). However he said, lets see how this turns out and then we’ll see and turned on his straightener. He straightened on his own volition, without my consent which is totally fine. But he then charged me $ 30.00 for this! I was shocked to see my bill at $ 95.00(only $ 10 less than the original quote with a cut!). He charged for a full, shampoo, blow dry and style! I asked to speak with the manager, who had even worse social skills than he did; I referred to their price board wich quoted«shampoo, blow dry and style $ 22.00» They charged me $ 30 and the shampoo is included in my dye job! It was like talking to a wall trying to explain that they were double charging me for the shampoo –I already paid for that part!(I realize that this price is not out of the realm of ordinary, but this on top of the poor service and state of the salon itself, I was not accepting this overcharge) They were both so rude in speaking about this and I was told several times that if I just wanted a ‘fluff dry’ then I have to specify and would not have been charged. This option was not given, he went ahead and blow dried and straightened my hair just so he could charge me for it! The manager ended up taking $ 5 off of my total but I still paid $ 90 for a mediocre dye job with incredibly poor service in a semi-gross atmosphere. Will NEVER be back and would strongly recommend AGAINST going there.
