Still waiting for a response to an email I sent the franchise manager regarding my impression and experiences regarding two meals in two weeks. First meal I was less then impressed with the size of their Dunn’s Jumbo Smoke Meat sandwich — the meal was near all fries, and mine also included a fragment of something else(non-eatable), too. The second, a breakfast, included a tea pot which poured all down the side of the pot. The waitress’s method for remedying the situation was to add more water to this existing pot. This was after she indicated that this spillage issue is a known problem with all their tea pots. … Humm… Now, what’s the point of going back to try again, if the manager isn’t interested in at least promptly acknowledging my concerns? This indicates to me that he simply doesn’t care about my business, or, how I report my experiences to anyone else.

The poutine here is amazing as well as the smoked meat sandwich it’s all I ever get here and it’s amazing. The servers here are friendly and really nice. This is my go to place after 2am when everything is closed. I’ve been here so many times I have lost count. The eggs here are cooked funny — they are never fluffy but rather bland and flat.

Dunn’s used to include coffee in their breakfast special which made their deal seem like a deal and imperfections were forgivable, but their $ 4.99 breakfast now, with tax and tip, is $ 10. The dishwater coffee priced at $ 2.50 is a real spoiler for me.

They must be short on service because the hostess was also the waitress and the bartender. Wonder if she was the cook too? Lol. The place is large. The food was cooked fast. The Dunn’s Poutine was good. The Mac and Cheese was not. To me it tasted like they dumbed soap in it. The chicken wings were overcooked. Pretty much burnt.

Yep, ordered the smoked meat sandwich special for $ 17 and what I got was an insult to my intelligence: burnt and reheated rubbery fries, and the sandwich no bigger than a McMuffin with no more than ½″ thick. So they say there’s always a first time to everything. Well, I simply returned the entire plate to the waiter, paid for my pop drink and left. Never again. What a disgrace to the Dunn’s chain.

I ordered the smoke meat sandwich with the poutine for takeout tonight. The meal came with a little coleslaw, a quarter of a pickle, a small smoke meat sandwich, a poutine(which substituted the fries) and a fountain drink. The smoke meat itself is good, but not good enough to compensate how terrible the rye bread is. The coleslaw is good, nothing spectacular and a little too watery. The pickle is a pickle, it tastes exactly like what a pickle should taste like except it’s tiny. The poutine is not very good, generic subpar fries, generic gravy and generic cheese curds. The whole disappointing meal came to just over $ 23 dollars after tax(not including tips), which is ridiculous for a crappy sandwich and crappy poutine. For the price tag I expected a lot better. Honestly, I would have been much happier with McDonald’s.

The Philadelphia Poutine was great. Think slices beef, onions & peppers over Poutine. The service was very slow on a slow night. While the staff was nice, would benefit from moving a little quicker

was here a week ago. location — 8⁄10 — was staying at the Delta, not bad, close to many things walking food — 2⁄10 — this was a disaster. i had the recommended by my waitress must try. i should have known better. it was the hamburger with corned beef mix… it was like chewing on salt, canned corned beef with a fork would have been much better. the bread was fresh though… my fries were cold, not from sitting, from not being cooked enough, hard inside on some, soft on the warmer ones. my slaw was very dry… almost no flavor. my drink was good… my partner ordered the smoked meat… but he got a chicken sandwich instead… not sure how that was misunderstood, but it was probably for the best, and it was better than what i had… service — 5⁄10 our waitress was very attentive and pleasant, but messed up our order, didn’t really know how to deal with it and the poor thing was so nervous about it so we left it alone… we just wanted out of there and even if they offered us something, not sure if i would be able to come back

Dunn’s Of the 3 locations in Ottawa this location is the weakest link… Personally if going to this location I would only recommend ordering what Dunn’s is known for and that is ‘Smoke Meat’. The super at $ 15.99 is a large sandwich with fries, coleslaw, pickle and pop. You also can order at $ 17.99 the same with a draft beer. The smoke meat has good flavor and is plentiful on all sandwiches. Other items that our group tried Club Sandwich which was real chicken but the cook put what appeared to be a full jar of mayo on the sandwich. By doing this the sandwich was a soggy mess and unless you have some sort of mayo fetish it was just gross. This must be standard practice at this restaurant as when pointed out to our waitress she said that is the way it should come. We asked to speak to the manager but he or she couldn’t be bothered to come to our table. The burger another person ordered had a strange taste which looking at the burger you could see the burnt grill marks. I think it must have been what was cooked on the grill before the burger as well because it was burnt. They had a wide selection of desserts but none of us ordered them mostly because of the open concept. They have garage doors that they open up so when sitting beside you get the bugs, smokers walking down the street, bus fumes etc… Our waitress wasn’t impressive mainly because of attitude as she did provide alright service getting the order, delivery and got the bill over to us when asked. I will go to Bank St of Elgin St next time…

Very disappointing even for a greasy spoon. The coffee was terrible and with a Bridgehead 2 blocks away one would think they would try harder. The potatoes were scary bad, like they were off. The omelet wasn’t terrible. Dunn’s is an avoid at all costs kinda place. There are plenty of other places to go.

Great Smoked Meat Sandwich and great service. This place is starting to become a tradition every time I go to Ottawa. Large portions.

What the point to be open 24⁄7 if, as of 9PM, the menu is already limited to the most basic items! In Montréal, the full menu is served 24⁄7 and tastes better. When I got there, there were only 3 or 4 customers… but my food arrived only after 10 good minutes wait and only lukewarm… better go to the 24⁄7 poutine fast food than there… at least after 9pm.

I just moved downtown a few weeks ago, and Dunn’s is a short walk away. I’ve already found myself visiting multiple times thanks to good service, very fair prices and delicious food. I like that Dunn’s has the feeling of eating outside without actually eating outside. You can get a nice breeze and fresh air without having to burn up in the sun. Everything I’ve tried on the menu has been great so far. I would definitely recommend this place to any group of friends looking for good cheap eats.

Its right in the Byward Market so convenient to action central I had the jumbo montreal smoked meat with gravy and fries and a pint Its juicy, smoky, peppery and juicy and its a great high protein meal Add a squirt of mustard and you are good to go This is a favorite of mine including the montreal location and has been serving a quality product for the past 30 years that I have been going to a Dunn’s because of the montreal smoked meat The poutine is always good as well. Its the secret gravy sauce I think

Recommended as the Late Night fill-er-up destination this 24-hour Deli had it’s share of rowdy sketchy drunk passer-bys which didn’t make sense for the staff to sit everyone at the corner while windows-open so disturbing idiots can ruin good meals for customers. Yes, it’s a good space to people-watch but not all people are worth watching. The Dude staff was quite friendly while I notice the Lady was less so. Good thing the Dude waited on me and no harassment as to why I only ordered one item on the Menu or why I opt for Tap Water. I gave him the proper instructions and off he went to retrieve my Food. I did however wish the Food came in a bigger dish as my chowdown had Meats & Pieces flying every which way and I didn’t want to recover the bits from a potentially dirty Tabletop. Montréal Smoke Meat(Fat/$ 6.99) That’s correct, I asked for FAT selection of the Montréal Smoke Meat. The Fat dribbling down my mouth with the savoury flavours of the Smoke Meat making me go back bite after bite. At that price, it’s worth it’s weight in Canadian Dollar($). That’ll be Loonies not Bills.

I went to get some groceries this morning before work and saw there was a breakfast special. I dropped on for the 3.99 special between 6am and 11am. I was seated immediately and they took my order. The special with a coffee is somewhere between $ 6-$ 7. Breakfast arrived quickly and I had a few bites. I never thought I would give a low rating for breakfast but this place was pretty bad this morning. The bacon was bad. Thin strips that were flavourless… well maybe tasted of cooking oil. The potatoes were really starchy, warm and a few I bit into tasted slightly sour. On a side note, to the 2 guys behind me who were talking about porn… that’s fine and all but when you’re sitting across from each other and decide to browse porn on your phone in a restaurant… actually I don’t even know what to say. Please go home to surf porn or rent a room… but not in public guys.

After a more than terrible night at the club, a few of us wanted to do something to replace our memories of earlier on in the night, so we came to Dunn’s at around 2am. It was packed with people, mostly from the bars. I had never been to this location before and it was actually quite large. We were seated right away and I have to say that our waiter was fantastic! He served us quickly, and was very friendly and funny throughout the whole time we were there. My friend and I ordered their breakfast. She had two eggs sunny-side up, with whole wheat bread and ham. I ordered my eggs fried, with rye bread and bacon, and I substituted my home fries for poutine. I didn’t realize that my fried eggs weren’t sunny-side up like my friend’s, and I was kind of disappointed, but it was my fault for not clarifying. My friend’s ham seemed like sliced deli ham that was heated up in a pan, but my bacon was thin and crispy. My poutine was made with home fries instead of fries, and was actually quite good. The breakfast plates also came with an orange and kiwi slice, which was great to cut the grease, and we ordered whole pickles on the side. just because. My boyfriend ordered a club sandwich, and it came with fries — a lot of fries, that is. He ended up just being all about the fries and took the sandwich home. which we are currently eating right now, the morning after. It’s really tasty now, and it definitely would have been even better last night. The only problem I had was the washrooms. The stairway alone smelled like pee, and the stall doors didn’t even close, much less lock. Another girl even waved to me through the space in the door while I was waiting for a stall to be free, since two of them were already occupied and the third one looked like someone’s butt exploded. Big EW.
