I came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning with some friends. Nicolelina’s Café is a neat little diner in the heart of Port Moody. While small, it makes up for it with great service. Like most diners, you order up front at the till, and then your meal and drinks are brought out to you. You can pay for your meal right after your order, or pay after you are finished eating. The menu has a decent selection of breakfast items(available all day!) including a breakfast wrap and standard breakfast plates containing eggs, hash browns, toast and protein(bacon or sausage) all ranging in price from $ 5 – 10. They also have a decent selection of coffee drinks, teas, and smoothies, along with many appetizer and lunch dishes. I ordered a green tea along with the breakfast wrap. The server not only offered me tea, milk, and honey for my tea, but also offered to bring me an ice cube if I found the tea too hot. I have never been offered an ice cube at a restaurant, so it was a really nice gesture. The breakfast wrap however was just okay. It was a great size and loaded with hash browns, egg, and bacon, but it had absolutely no seasoning. I had to use the entire small cup of salsa, and a lot of sriracha to give the wrap some flavour. My husband and our friends also had the same complaint about lack of seasoning with their eggs and hash brown breakfast. I love supporting small local businesses, and I think the service here is great, but the food is just okay. It’s really more of a 3.5 star place, but I’m rounding up for the star rating.
We came here the other day after seeing the owners in the news because someone marked their resto closed on Google despite the fact that they’re not. We were intrigued so we came in for breakfast. The place is clean but a bit dark. The menu items are very affordable including their alcohol. I was just a bit confused on the menu as they have several lists on the counter, the wall and the tables of their various offerings. The lady behind the till was very sweet and friendly. She delivered our cutlery, condiment and food to our table. Our breakfast was good. The potatoes were nicely crispy on the outside. I liked how they cut the sausage down the middle and fried them to give the exterior a nice crisp. The sunny side up eggs were perfectly done. So glad there’s a diner nearby that serves all day breakfast for a good price.
