A spacious family friendly place that serves great food at reasonable prices. Most pasta dishes are under $ 10. Comes with soup or salad, and a cold drink. Upgrade to a real fruit slush for just a buck. If you like chicken wings, I would suggest to try the Garlic Chicken Wings, comes with sweet and spicy dipping sauce(your typical Thai spring roll dipping sauce). One of my favs is the Gamberoni(prawns, broccoli, and pasta) with white wine cream sauce. The Mare Pasta(seafood medley of mussels, clams, prawns, scallops, and broccoli) with white wine cream sauce is also pretty good. The Seafood Nero(seafood medley, same as Mare) comes with creamy squid ink sauce. Also one of my favs. I would not recommend this if you’re on : — a business lunch meeting; — a date with a person you really like; — or any lunch/dinner with people you’re trying to impress. If you do, smile with your mouth closed. The server is friendly and nice. But because she’s the only one, it might take a while before she can get to your table. High chairs, yes. They have both the wooden and white plastic high chairs(IKEA).

Food is superb, prices are super reasonable! Do not expect any service from them though. More photos and details are in this blog entry at

For $ 3.00 extra make it au gratin. New menu coming soon! Sept 2011 Cream corn soup is amazing I like the chicken wings here. I’m a regular can’t you tell? Still yummy since they’ve first opened. Quality is still there. The effort is still there. Customers all seem to enjoy themselves here. Can’t wait for the new menu. I’ll be back.

Nice décor, and good value. This Korean owned pasta joint offers a decidely Asian spin on pasta dishes. Chicken and kimchi pasta?!? I tried it and was I was intrigued by how much I enjoyed this dish! I’ll be back if in the area soon. A detraction from the meal may be the somewhat absentee service. While the meal was good, the server was not seeming to be too interested in our dinner. I’m sure we could have flagged her down, but she never bothered to ask how our meal was going nor did she ask how we enjoyed our meal when we paid. Further, we ordered a bottle of wine which was left at the table after she opened it, but she did not pour a glass as one would expect at most restaurants… or am I expecting too much???

I’m a fan of the food, not so much the service. Went with a large group on a Thursday night. There was only one server who neither smiled nor made us feel welcomed. We felt we were inconveniencing her with each request we made. I sympathize for her but can’t understand a management that’d set their employee up for that. To say the least, drinks came after ordering, no checkup on our meal, and water glasses went unfilled. To their credit, the service didn’t become a distraction(maybe because of our large group), food came relatively quickly and we didn’t feel pressured being the last out if the restaurant. Food? My squash and honey pasta was surprisingly delightful(creamy, just the right saltiness and flavours to excite) and left me wanting more. They were generous with the non-pasta ingredients(meats, etc) given the price. Everybody else seemed to be content with their food. All in all, a good eat if not distracted by the sparse service.

As someone else mentioned, the place is a bit hard to find. The map they put in their ad is misleading since it is missing a street between them and the main road. The pasta was pretty good that myself and my girlfriend ordered. The downsides were they only take cash and the service was a bit slow. This was surprising given that there was only one other couple in the restaurant at the time.

In 1 of the innumerable outdoor shopping centers in Richmond. Remarkably this center had ample parking. From outside the shopping center & Bistro look mundane. Upon entering Bistro greets you with a modern décor, warm colors & inviting comfortable chairs. The floor plan is open with generous spacing between tables. There is an outdoor patio facing Alexandra Rd. which may be used for seating in warm weather. They played soft romantic music in the background. After entering we were shown to our table promptly. Service was friendly & good throughout the evening. The menu was Italian inspired with Asian accents. They started the meal with warm Garlic Bread. We ordered Honey Squash Soup, Water Mozzarella & Tomatoe Salad, Shanghai Seafood Pasta, Red Sauce Seafood Pasta, & Honey Squash Pizza. The pizza, with very thin crust, corn, squash, & cheese toppings still leaves me wanting more. All the food was delicious! The house red wine was a perfect compliment. An enjoyable relaxing dining experience… we will be back.

It’s quite tucked away and a little hard to find but the décor is really pretty and clean inside. I was there for lunch and pricing was decent, a free drink during lunch with the order of a pasta(but $ 1 at dinner time). It was a little bit sad when my ginger ale came only a little over half filled but since it was free I guess it’s not much to complain about =P Soup came with the pasta and it was delicious. It was a tomato-y seafood soup and usually i expect combo soups to be really salty but this was not at all. The menu lets you pick your sauce(either a tomato sauce, cream sauce or olive oil) but sadly(for me personally) all of them contain wine. If you’ve got a pansy alcohol body like I do or don’t like the taste of alcohol, you can ask them to take out the wine and they’ll gladly accomodate that for you. I’m not sure if taking out the wine changed the flavour of my chicken pasta too much but I felt that it could have used a bit more salt. Towards the end it started to taste more and more bland. The waitress was very friendly, they only had one waitress at lunch but there were only 2 other tables. The atmosphere is classy for the price range and it’s a nice quiet place to have a meal without crowding and rowdy customers. Portion sizes are adequate and I think it would fill up the average person.

*A rare find in Vancouver* I was able to try this place a few evenings ago and it was a good experience. There are not many places in Richmond which serves the higher end Asianized pastas. This place seems to be operated by Koreans as the servers and the music that they play are Korean. Service here is good as the servers are attentive and even by western standards, it is on the good side. Their pastas are great and their soup is highly recommended. I had the Shanghai pasta and the spiciness is just right. Also, the mushroom cream soup was extraordinary as they ground the fresh mushrooms by hand and served it. This was the first time I had cream of mushroom soup prepared this way and I was surprised. The only drawback is that their iced coffees are pretty watered down. Also, the pasta seems to have a little too much MSG as I became very thirsty after I got home. I would definitely recommend this restaurant over Aoyama Café in Aberdeen as it is cheaper and the food is much better.

Finally, got to doing my review!!! :) Oh boy! Came here with my family and it is packed! Maybe it’s just the holidays, or maybe there’s something becoming quite special with this little place. They call their style of pasta Asianized pasta, I call it delish. Ok, maybe I’m jumping the gun a little too early but so far it’s been quite tasty. I ordered the hamburger steak, which comes with a choice of fresh homemade soups,(I picked the tomato vegetable), bruschetta and salad, a choice of a drink, and a choice of pasta. I picked the pollo pasta with garlic shoots and cooked with olive oil. So, I didn’t really jump the gun, it was Delish! For the hamburger steak being $ 23.50 it was well worth it. The meal was brought out in 4 courses, the soup came out first, then the salad, the pasta, then the main course. Oh, did i mention they have a two for one pasta special? Larry probably mentioned that didn’t he? Very good, i’ll have to come here again.

Inconspicuously nestled at the back of an Asian strip mall, Bistro The Home certainly doesn’t have any curb appeal whatsoever. However, the ample parking and the excellent service compensate whatever shortcomings this newly established Italian/Asian infused bistro may have! The food was excellent, we ordered«Mare» on the extra virgin oil and another dish with shrimps with cream sauce. The«mare» contained ample seafood, with clams, mussels, and jumbo succulent prawns! Presentation for was impeccable and so were the consistent water refills. Portion size was just perfect; it wasn’t one of those obesity inducing, calorically infused Olive Garden entreés. Great atmosphere, and I will certainly return in the near future.

An Asianized Pasta place, or so they call it. This occupied the previous location of BonQuaLa, a Japanese restaurant. They did some minor renovations to it, making it more upscale, and added tablecloths. They’re Korean owned, cooking the Japanese inspired pasta. Recently opened, they are now doing a 2 for 1 pasta promo. Their pastas are grouped into 3 sauces: Oil: extra virgin olive oil with basil and garlic shoots; cream sauce: creamy white wine sauce; and tomato sauce: tomatoes, basil, extra virgin olive oil. Most of their pasta dishes contain seafood, which was perfect for me. I tried the Mare pasta, with the oil sauce. In the meantime, we were served iced water, as well as a piece of garlic bread for each of us. The pasta came in a nice white dish, and looked like it had a lot of seafood. At first bite, I liked it. The pasta was al dente, it wasn’t overly oily, and the flavours of the garlic was prominent, and it was a simple, but flavorful dish. Seafood wise, I got some mussels and clams, as well as some prawns. I really enjoyed my dish, and it was a good size for lunch. Service was good and it has a nice atmosphere. Going to be back to try out other pastas!
