boohoo hoo, this place is closed and now there’s a chinese restaurant in it’s place. Was walking there for lunch and turning into the restaurant when I had to stop myself and look where I was walking into as it was different. It was good while it lasted. Not the cleanest place, but tasty and cheap(even cheaper if you worked for St. Paul’s).

I’d been to this restaurant AGES ago and remembered it being cheap and tasty. It’s still cheap, tasty not so much, and I must have blocked out the overall filth of the place. The place is dimly lit(thank god!) and dirty. I didn’t see them clean off the grill(with something other than someone’s food) the entire time we were there(45 min or so), but I DID see the cook dipping a pitcher into a pail of(clean?) water to rinse the sauce out of people’s bowls and pour it over their food on the grill. The meat is kind of just sitting out, so I went for vegetarian. The selection of vegetables was slim, and there was no description of what the sauces were. I can say this for them though– the beer is probably the cheapest I’ve seen in Vancouver(2.5 $ for a bottle of Kirin). But it was the kind of place where I just felt like I was going to get sick from eating there. Also the bathrooms are kind of sketchy. All in all– it’s great that a 2 person meal was only 30 $ for drinks, food and tip, but I’d still rather pay 40 and eat somewhere clean!

I was hesitant at first but the gamble paid off as the experience there was outstanding. Before you enter you smell the great aromas filling the air outside the sidewalk and it totally convinces you to come inside and grab a bit to eat. Being new to this place the waitress asked if I have ever been here or not and they explain it very simple. You select beef, lamb, pork, or chicke(or combine all the meats) then you add noodles, various vegtables, and which ever sauces tickle your fancy(soy, mongo jam, seasame seed oil, ect) after you make your selections you make your way into the line and the chef cooks your food in less than 30 seconds. The chopsticks that the chef uses are as big as broom handles(seriously) and the flat grill is about four feet in diameter and the amount of heat and smoke that comes from this thing is intense. The ambiance is like a cafeteria as you have to wait in line until the chef cooks the food but at the same time is very homly and cozy. I do have to say however that if you shouldn’t go in wearing nice clothes as afterwards you do smell like your meal due to the exhaust fan not picking up all of the cooking fumes. Service here is very friendly and tentative, lots of wait staff and the manager is always around greeting people coming and going. Eating here is definatley an experience, the sights, sounds, and smells of watching your food being cooked right in front of you is very nice to watch

I haven’t had much Mongolian food lately, so I decided to head over and try this place. The good things about eating here are the prices for the all-you-can-eat for lunch and dinner are great at $ 9.95 and $ 12.95 respectively. You also get to choose whatever meats, noodles, sauces, and vegetables you want in your mishmash of a bowl of food. Unfortunately, I must question the sanitary cleanliness of this place as many of the utensils are overlapping and all sorts of vegetables and sauces are getting mixed together. Yuck! Everything was messy and the décor along with the atmosphere reminded me of a dingy dive bar. I was very disappointed and have no plans of returning anytime soon.

vegans and discerning eaters, stay the fuck away. this place is diiiiirty! the food bar where you fill the bowl – just gross. soo dirty. their choice of veggies was pretty sad. i asked the cook to use seperate utensils for my vegetarian meal(some places will do this, and clean off a spot on the grill for you!) and he said ‘ok’ but didn’t! they give you soup with the meal but it has chicken in it so i didn’t try it. this place needs a fresh coat of paint and a serious scrubdown. it’s super gross.

I agree with Jordan on this one, Food is tasty and price is cheep but they REALLY need to clean this place up. Picture spilling soy sauce all over the floor… k now imagine a child trying to clean it up, leaving the residue to attract dust. NOW picture leaving it like that for a few years and continuing to add to the mess, only to attract more dust and fruit flys. Its truly sad this place tastes so damn good, and is cheeper then most ‘all you can eat joints’. I still go there, but I try not to touch anything, and I watch out for the splinters from the super cheap chopsticks. I gave it a 3 for the food and the service. P. S. dont use the bathroom, not just because it is the shits(no pun intended), but because the floor is so greasy on the way down the hall that it was comparable to running on ice.

Bck when we lived in the west end 4 years ago, we liked this place a lot. But it’s gone downhill. The food is the same(tasty) the service is the same(not necessary), and the price is the same(quite cheap), but it’s starting to look quite dirty. The serving area had spills everywhere, and the utensils were all sticky. Not very trustworthy when you’re handling raw food in adjacency to fresh veetables. Anyways, I felt a little ill the next morning. Rumbling tummy, and other issues of which I won’t go into detail. I can’t prove it was the Mongolian BBQ, but with my pregnant wife, who wants to risk it?

This place is definitely somewhere you can get a huge meal for very cheap, but it’s probably a case of «you get what you pay for»(ie. my stomach was a bit off after I ate here). I love the concept of being able to choose your own veggies, meat and sauce, but I wouldn’t say the quality and cleanliness standards are the highest here. So yes, the stir fry is tasty, and you do get soup and rice even if you don’t opt for the all-you-can-eat(not necessary — one bowl is huge), but I don’t think I’d rush back.

I used to go here all the time years ago and last night I thought I’d try it again. The station where you choose your meat and veggies was a mess which maybe should have been my first clue. Everyone had to dig around/touch everything to get what they wanted. I took it to go and the food tasted fine but I woke up at 2am feeling nauseous. I spent the rest of the night with really brutal food poisoning. I didn’t make it into work the next day and felt so horrible. I couldn’t even keep water down. Highly NOT recommended.

I have been hear a couple times but I am having a very hard time convincing myself to go back after my last visit. The food itself is good, the value is good and the service is OK but not fabulous. The reason for the 2 star rating: HASANYONELOOKEDATTHEIRCEILING? There is about 10 years of greasy residue coating every ceiling tile in that place… really makes me question the condition of their kitchen. I was last there with my grandma(a big clean freak!) and found myself praying she would not look up because there is nothing my grandma loves more than creating a scene in a public place!

The Davie Mongolian grill may not have as wide a selection as the location on Broadway but the food is consistently awesome, the vegetables fresh, and the prices reasonable. This has been one of my favourite stand-bys for years and never fails to satisfy.

This place is very clean and is always stocked up on all the yummy stuff. Its cheaper to go at lunch where they have the all you can eat option. You just scoop out all the frozen noodles and veggies you want into a bowl and the cook heats it up in front of you in less then a minute. Definitely a great addition to davie st

The chef at the front was very nice and didn’t mind that I was coming up so often. I really enjoyed the noodles and vegetable options. The sauces were awesome and really allowed you to be creative with the mix and matching. Definitely try the teriyaki with garlic, ginger, and chili accents. They also offer you a list of ideas for the sauce plus the proportions.

I’ve been here a numerous amount of times due to my Fiancé’s large appetite. We always ask for the All You Can Eat option. Usually end up eating one a half bowls haha. The food is great, the vegtables and such all look real fresh, the meat is frozen but I think it is the only way to prevent it from getting bad. The fact that they cook it in front of you, will give you a bigger appetite, it makes the smell of the food just jump right out and there is usually a long line(for dinner anyways) which also really helps your appetitte build. Sometimes they have two cooks using half of the grill which helps the line speed up a lot, but usually it is just one, which is why I have removed one star. Time seems to really add up when you are here so if you are looking for something fast, I would not recommend this for you. The price is very reasonable.
