J’aime beaucoup cet endroit!

Pretty dirty interior, front of house girl was friendly and accommodating. The cook was pretty rude to me, I asked a polite question regarding allergies and he was rude and condescending when a yes or no answer would’ve been fine. Even when I guessed the price he gave me a dirty look. If you’re that disgruntled and hate life so much maybe it’s time for a new job! We won’t be coming back. Food was mediocre, service was decent, cook was a bitter and unnecessarily rude.

Great food, good price, friendly staff. The food reduces quite a bit upon cooking and the price is good so intentionally over-load your bowl a little bit. This place can get hot in the summer so keep that in mind from a physical comfort standpoint. Took us a little while to get the bill at the end but otherwise service was prompt. This place is very family friendly but also makes good adult beverages. It’s across the street from a Canada Line skytrain station so I’m surprised it isn’t more busy than it was. The red velvet cake is great so leave a little room for that.

Waitress is nice, but the food is way over priced. They charge you by weight I had a bowl that was full to the top and it was $ 25 I mean the food is good but a little pricey. If you don’t mind the high price then i would recommend going to eat there is not that bad i guess.

Delicious and fresh mongolian Stir fry! They have a ginormous selection of meats, noodles, veggies, and sauces… you can eat something different each time! Free rice and wraps come with your meal… has white meat chicken instead of dark or mixed that I’m used to finding in these places! also, the first time my veggie friend and I agreed on a place to eat without a fight!

Don’t do it. The meat is raw and left in trays before being cooked.(Without refrigeration). My girlfriend and I had dinner there last night and let’s just say our evening was spent in our hotel running back and forth to bathroom. Well, guess I got rid of those 5 lbs I was trying to lose.

My partner and I went there last night for dinner on a whim and were very impressed. We were seated very quickly by the hostess who explained the menu thoroughly and made suggestions on what to get, and how to eat it, etc. Included in our meal was two types of soup: corn chowder or spicy something(I stopped listening after spicy because I don’t like spicy food). It was good… hot(temperature wise)… but good. We were also given the choice of white or brown rice. We got one of each, and then served rice wraps. We made our way up to the buffet. SOMANY choices. We’ve gone to a lot of different Mongolian buffets but this by far had the most amount of choices: BBQ salmon, prawns, shrimp. different kinds of marinated beef, chicken, lamb, pork, every vegetable you could think of including TWO different types of mushrooms(mushrooms are a dealbreaker with us… no mushrooms no likey). Its kind of fun because you have to guess how much your food costs depending on weight, and if you guess correctly you get your food free. Well… I guessed with 1 cent difference(I guessed $ 10.50 and it came to $ 10.49) so they gave me 50% off. :) Super tasty. AND if your eyes are bigger than your tummy, they give you this CUTE take away container(like in the movies) to take your food home with. I’d be back for sure. Good date night place for sure.

That’s just great… You eat like the way we want!!! I love that restaurant. I came here 20 year’s ago there. That still is best deal in town. I made again a great meal for not even 10 $. It goes with a soup… take the hot & sour(really good). I always make some wraps with the rice and some hoisin sauce. I love that place!!!

A few of us from the office were looking for something that was healthy and good so we came here. I have always been a fan of picking your own ingredients and amounts so that you can be accountable to yourself when eating and that’s what I really, really like about the Mongolie Grill. The down side is that it can be VERY expensive because of the meat weights, I had chicken. If you want any decent amount of meat in your concoction then it’s going to cost you a pretty penny and for me, that knocks the rating down from a 4.5 to a 3 star. Service was really good but not good enough to give this place a better rating. I may or may not be back here. More than likely will not get any meat so if I were going vegetarian for the day it would be OK.

I went there during a quiet Tuesday afternoon. It was around 2:30 pm. First off I’ll talk about the service. I like the fact that they have a sign that says wait to be seated. Seriously, it’s just nice to know that someone is going to serve you and that you’re not looking around like a dope. My server was friendly and energetic, and took time to explain the details of how their restaurant worked. She actually asked me if it was my first time at the restaurant. The food, this particular Mongolie restaurant serves food by the weight, and when you compare it to other Mongolie restaurants it can be quite expensive compared to their all you can eat. But it’s cheaper than going to a Joey’s if you’re talking about price comparison. They have a wider selection of meats that are thick, and a good selection of vegetables as well. They charge a different price for your bowls if you have meat in it. So for people that eat only veggie noodles you get a cheaper price. The only dissatisfying part was the actual lamb, it was really hard to chew. They also offer you a choice of two different soups and whether you want white or brown rice. Would I go back again. Yes, but only if I’m really craving for Mongolian noodles, but probably won’t be back there any time soon.

Seriously cannot ever go back! I use to go here all the time as a kid and a teenager. Came back with a few friends for dinner and we were told to sit where ever we wanted– Except that table because there were ants… umm YUCK! The place was dirty and dark I would hate to know the last time it was cleaned. The food was ok but I was never offered any sesame seeds… Came back a second time WORSTIDEAEVER! This time not 1 but 2MICE ran across the patio! I leaped out of my chair and shrieked! I walked in and paid and left as FAST as possible! I will NEVER go back again! Who knows their might be mice inside! I feel awful that this restaurant isn’t maintained because I think a French couple owns it and has owned it forever! However maybe they should take a look at the reviews and make a change because mice are UNACCEPTABLE! What a horrific experience!

Came here for a birthday gathering on recommendation of the birthday-girl. The server was laid back, told us how it all works: you go get your food, weigh it, get a receipt for the bill(if you guess the weight correctly you apparently get it free — good luck), they cook it and bring it to you. This is supposed to come with rice, «wraps», and soup. Sounds simple… epic fail: 1) There is a different price list for vegetarian versus meat — I didn’t have meat and was billed the same price as everyone else(read: decrease tip) 2) Seafood on the line looked a little scary — I just wouldn’t get it 3) Waitress took our drink order, and one person in our party wanted a drink they were out of «mix». So she ordered a margarita which NEVER came. Had to follow up with the server, «Oh yeah, we only have strawberry margaritas today». Well our friend didn’t like strawberry so she didn’t get anything.(read: decrease tip) 4) Cook came to deliver 3 plates of our food, he called out a number and we were all confused. We all looked at our receipts(and yes he stood there for at least a minute). Finally the cook slammed the plates on the table, and said, «fine you guys figure it out yourselves». There were 8 of us, and if you’ve seen«stir fry» you know it’s not easy to tell what is what(read: decrease tip) 5) Ran out of beer, never asked whether I wanted another(read: decrease tip) 6) «Soup» never came. When I asked the waitress AFTER she rang up my bill, she said, «oh sorry, my bad, do you want it to go? No, I would have liked it with my dinner — which sucked.(read: someone should pay ME now because we’re running a tip deficit). I don’t normally slam restaurants, and I try to be as generous(albeit honest) as possible. I would like to think that if you hate the food, it’s partially your fault because you put the stuff in a bowl, someone else just cooked it for you. But when the overall experience is SO bad, I cannot and will not recommend this place(nor will I ever go back).

Tried this for the first time today– can’t go wrong for a by-weight meal which you throw together yourself. There was only one server for a pretty busy sunday,(probably higher than normal volume due to the SunRun this morning) as we got there around 1 pm and there was only 2 – 3 other tables, but about 13 others by the time we left. The server was friendly and pretty laid back at the beginning, and was able to show that he could handle a lot of volume by the end. The chef/man who cooks everything had a great sense of humor, and for the amount of interactions between servers and guests, it made the experience better. Overall, prices were decent for a lunch, and it was a neat experience; I wouldn’t be opposed to going back, but I prefer to have flavours thrown together for me, so I probably won’t be back often.

Worst dining experience EVER! I went here last night because I was drunk and my date convinced me it was a good idea at the time. I previously talked him out of coming here because of the bad reviews so I really wasn’t expecting much but holy shit this place was awful! We walked in got rudely told to sit wherever so we chose our seat and waited for the waitress. The waitress in general had a bitterness to her, I don’t know if she had a bad day or is just bitter but it was obvious she wasn’t too concerned about provided quality service. Then came«the soup» we got the corn chowder and my first clue that is would be disgusting was that it was at my table 30 seconds after I asked for it… it tasted like the inside of a tin can! Then we moved on to dinner, their selection was horrible. Most of the meats were empty and the ones that weren’t looked VERY suspect! Their meat selections made me grateful to be a vegetarian, that is until I saw their selection of dried out veggies! The zucchini that has been sitting in my fridge for a week looked fresher then the crap they were serving here! I guess they figure it’s all the same once you fry it, but when you have to look at it first it’s a bit of a turn off! It ended being $ 8 each and we both had tiny little platefuls after it was fried! The cook was a messy hippy-ish looking guy shoved into a while cook’s coat, not the kinda person. Not to mention he was wearing shorts and had a scruffy beard which goes against food safe standards. Gross! They also don’t cook the food properly, they just leave it there in piles and parts ended up being burnt! I also watched someone at another table pull a 1 ft long hair out of her meal!!! On top of the nasty food we paid top dollar for the waitress was rude so I muttered something under my breath, she then stormed off and ignored us for the whole remainder of the meal! Now that’s what I call service! If I could give this place 0 out of 5 stars I would!

They now have bison meat and smoked salmon. The guessing Game regarding the food is interesting, but very hard to win. Guess by price, not by weight! The food is tasty depending on what you choose. The service is alright and it’s pretty romantic here at night. Especially if you get a window table looking out at broadway and cambie.

Came here for a friend’s birthday dinner. The corn chowder was gross. It was completely the taste of instant noodles. I could taste the MSG powder on my tongue just by talking about it. The hot and sour soup was salty and had too much vinegar. Yuck. You weigh your food and it was like $ 25.50+ per kg. Let’s just say it’s too expensive. I think the food made me sick as I had an upset stomach later in the evening and the next morning. Will not come here again.

Ok. Here’s the thing: I love to eat, I can eat a lot and I can also stomach a lot of things that most people cannot. Why I don’t like this place: –raw meat looks stale –sauce is all used up –floor was so greasy I almost fell –meat and sauce used was not replenished –food is not worth the money I paid for(I paid for $ 14 for food that I think it’s worth $ 5) — mall food is better than this place –food was over cooked, not much taste on the sauce(trust me I loaded it up with sauce) –rice was hard –flies were hovering over the condiments and on our food One of the worst meals I have ever experienced. Please save your money and go somewhere else.

Even though the ambiance here is romantic, authentic and clean, you don’t really want to go here. I know that the huge mural of a Mongolian warrior on the side of the building is cool and enticing, but the bottom line is that the prices are way too high, especially considering that you basically just make your own dinner. Like most Mongolian eateries, the customer is given a large berth of options for ingredients and sauces, and allowed to assemble it together before it’s cooked on a huge circular grill by one of the trained chefs. The problem is that this restaurant charges you by the pound, instead of by the bowl. As most people familiar with Mongolian cuisine will tell you, it’s all about pushing the food down in the bowl to make space for more ingredients before it’s cooked, and this place curtails that trick by weighing it in before grilling it. Sure, the meal is free if you guess the correct weight, but unless you’re feeling particularly lucky, it just seems like one of those fixed carnival games. The food is good, considering that you do most of the work, but there are so many better places to get your Mongolian fix. I’d suggest one of Vancouver’s all-you-can-eat places, so that you can get several small portions and try out the sauces separately, instead of the all-at-once swamp mix.
