George Lounge is definitely becoming one of my favorite restaurants in Yaletown. The lamb bacon salad is delicious, and all of the entrees have been on point. On top of that, the last couple times I have been here Courtney has been my server and she’s been sweet and on top of everything. I will surely make this my go to place for drinks and tapas.

Nice lounge with great music. We stopped here to end our night, and it was a great atmosphere. The waiter had the bartender make us a special drink, and it was yummy. Service here was wonderful! The staff were awesome!

Barman Chris looked after us and mixed us up some fabulous cocktails when we stopped in pre-dinner the other day. A great start to our evening!

George Lounge is a cool place. I’ve been here a couple times on weekend nights on separate trips to Vancouver, usually right at the beginning of the night(9−11ish) and it’s fairly chill. I get the very distinct feeling that as the night wears on it can get crazy. There’s a TV on the bar that has a sign above it that says«If you’re watching this, someone is checking out your ass». So that’s the vibe(but thanks for the ego boost!). I do like the glowing marble bar. If you can grab a seat at the bar, I think you’ll enjoy it too. It becomes more and more fascinating as the drink count rises. Never tried any food here, but the drinks are solid. I love me some craft cocktails and they have a good menu. The Rye ‘n’ Gosling is a favorite of mine. It comes with a show when they light the sugar cubes on fire and sprinkle cinnamon on top of it. It’s flashy as hell, just like the real Ryan Gosling! Generally speaking, it seems like a place that vodka/sweet drink lovers will get along fairly well. The bartenders and servers have always been awesome. The first time I was there, the card reader went down and so swiping my card was taking a little longer than usual, so they offered us free shots. For what seemed like a drop in the bucket additional wait time, this was a very nice gesture. I don’t always go to Yaletown. But when I do, I will go to the George at some point in the night!

I got a travelzoo voucher as a gift and came here with my boyfriend recently. The voucher is totally worth it, unlike other places you can choose any item off the menu! The food was delicious and beautifully presented. It was filling and there was quite a bit to choose to from. The inside is quite small but intimate and it’s nice. Our server was attentive and nice! Would definitely go back for cocktails or for dinner when I have more money!

Nice, pretty small and intimate bar, beneath Brix Restaurant. Do you like/enjoy Yaletown bars? If the answer’s yes then you’ll like it here. It’s largely a cocktail bar. I don’t think they have draft beer, but there are ten or so bottled beers available. The cocktails are hand crafted with care. Sit at the bar and the friendly bar staff will explain the methodology and mixology to you as you watch on. Very solid cocktails even for the most crafty cocktail connoisseur(or CCC as the kids are saying). Personally I go for the Old Fashioned. That’s a cocktail, not a youthemism.

Lamb bacon salad(House cured lamb bacon, radishes, endive, bourbon vinaigrette) 3.5÷5 — The lamb bacon was a little salty but fine eating with the salad. The seasoning was something special and more than just pepper. Local autumn squash bisque, Truffle oil, fresh micro greens 3⁄5 — I could not taste any truffle oil! The bisque was fine but a little to dull without the truffle oil. The micro greens were fresh though. AAA flatiron steak(Citrus & mild chili marinated & grilled, pineapple chorizo sausage fried risotto, tomatillo purée) 2.5÷5 — Our server did not ask me how I wanted my steak. She told me the chef prepared it already when I asked her. She said it should be between medium and medium rare but it was between medium and medium well. She said it would be rubbery when it was undercooked for this kind of cut. The sauce was decent. The risotto was undercooked/quite hard. The pineapple reminded me of Chinese pineapple fried rice. Brome lake duck breast(Maple bourbon honey glaze, freeze dried blueberries, duck confit succotash) 3.5÷5 — Cooked just about right. I could take it a little rarer but still okay. It wasn’t overly oily. The duck confit succotash was amazing. It was way better than the duck breast itself. It reminded all of us of the filling of a Chinese lettuce wrap. I hope they could put this onto their regular menu. Heirloom tomato tagliatelle(Roasted artichoke hearts, fresh basil, grana padano, sundried tomato hazelnut pesto) 3⁄5 — The pasta was salty. It was cooked just right but with a weird texture. It reminds me of the Chinese egg noodles.(Have you seen the trend by now? I’m wondering if there is some Chinese influences in the menu??)] Vanilla bean panna cotta, Sour cherry compote 3⁄5 — Creamy, lots of vanilla bean in the bottom. The sour cherry reminded me of umeboshi(Japanese dried plums). The gooseberry was one of the sweetest one I had for a while. Someone commented it was the best dish of the night. Passionfruit tart, Lemon Chantilly, meringue, raspberry coulis 3.75÷5 — better than my expectation. The passionfruit was strong and the tart was nice. The coulis matched perfectly with the tart too. Service 2.5÷5 — There were 20 – 30 minutes between each course and another 20 minutes waiting for our bill. I felt bad reminding her about this again since she was one of the two servers running around. She had to run to the back, the bar, and the patio. Our server was not really nice answering our questions on the menu. She expected us to understand the Italian words on the menu. Our bread and drinks came after our appetizers but the others got their drinks right away at the bar.

I came here with a friend of mine who used to model with Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista. Nobody so much as looked at her. She said to me, «This is a TOUGH room!» and so it is. Not a great place for a fishing expedition, even if you used to be a supermodel. That said, the cocktails are expertly prepared and the staff, despite being intimidatingly good-looking, are friendly and recognize when you’re getting iced by the rest of the room. They are attentive and they would never shake a gin Martini. The room itself is intimate and sexy, with a chandelier that is rumoured to have cost over $ 1 million.

The second stop on our girls’ night out was the George Lounge. I can’t give an extensive review for this place as we were there for just one drink, but damn, the drinks are expensive. They have a great cocktail menu(I had trouble deciding what to get), but with drinks ranging in price from $ 11 to $ 15, that’s just out of my price range.(I’m not going to be ashamed of being poor; that’s just the way it is.) I ordered the Gwen Stefani, and while it was a good drink and I wasn’t disappointed with my choice, it wasn’t worth the $ 17 price.(The total was just over $ 17, and this included the tax and the automatic gratuity of $ 2+.) Damn, for the price of one drink at the George Lounge, I can get two glasses of wine and rosemary garlic fries at The New Oxford!

We came here for a date night during dine-out Vancouver. This was my first time to the city. My wife and myself ordered off the dine out menu. She had duck and I had a veal pasta. I can say the amount of flavors in the meal was outstanding. Both dishes sounded bland but I was blown away. Very talented chefs. Atmosphere felt slightly like being at the club. Would def come back again and check out some of the live music. I would like to try it one more time before giving it the coveted 5th star. If you come here you wont be disappointed.

Delicious fruity drinks! Friendly people! My friend ordered some shots that a cucumber was the chaser. I have no idea what it was but I didn’t taste the alcohol at all so I had about 20. Let’s just say the night did not end well hahahaha Downfall: parking is hard to find

I came here for drinks and it was pretty great. We were only one of two tables sitting outside in the calm quiet, while inside an insane party raged. We ordered wine, a cheese board, more wine and a peanut butter cheesecake that you could sell your soul for. Inside the bathrooms are down a weird hallway, which is the strangest customer journey ever, and the bar is full of douchey types. This place is expensive, make sure it’s worth it.

George was alright. Downstairs from Brix, the crowd is nice and the alcohol is decent. There isn’t much of a dance floor, but it just makes it funner dancing in the aisles and the small space in the front of the bar. The other thing I like? If you don’t like the vibe at George at the moment, you can just walk upstairs to Brix and check out the DJ upstairs!

I like George lounge. It’s a great place to go and grab a drink or two. I like the booth seats but there are only few of them but there are also patio seats and bar seats. It has a great vibe and they also have food items on the menu since they are part of the Brix restaurant.

I can respect any establishment that has a «classics» section on their cocktail menu, provided that they execute them well. For me, a well-crafted manhattan or old fashioned is a good measuring stick for a bartender’s competency(note: if you’re lounging somewhere and the bartender doesn’t KNOW what an old fashioned is, run for the door. this has happened to me before, true story!). so, I went with the old fashioned for round one. the good thing is, they’re definitely generous with the liquor pour here, and service is relatively snappy, even on a bustling night(thursday, of all nights). i can’t say it’s the best old fashioned i’ve had, but it was far from the worst, and if there’s enough liquor in there, i can’t really complain about much. i think my palette was desperately seeking out the angostura bitters which felt light or altogether absent, but at least the citrus notes were around to offset the booze. for round two i decided to mix it up a bit and order a rob roy — a classic, but not on the menu. also a drink not to be under-estimated despite it’s suspiciously simplistic ingredient list. my companion wasn’t so fond of the«peteyness» of the scotch used, but I found it altogether(maybe a bit too much) agreeable. definitely treat the rob roy’s here with respect, as I under-estimated it’s strength and I think rushed it a bit. all in all, not a bad place for a night cap, but not necessarily my first choice in town. would I turn it down if invited again? probably not, but if it’s my choice vs. dealer’s choice, we’re likely going somewhere a little more interesting.

Let’s set the scene. We booked an area of the lounge on a Thursday night for 30 people as a work-function. It was still early when we got there, so we were pretty much the only crowd for at least a half-hour. After reviewing their extensive drink menu, I head to the bar and ask for a watermelon martini. The bartender looks behind him at his fruit table and says«you’ll have to give me a few minutes, I’ve got to go get a watermelon for you.» Seriously. A whole watermelon had to be retrieved for my one martini. That’s when I knew that this place is awesome. I saw drinks being made throughout the evening, and the fresh fruit ones were amazing! Those that were wanting to order quick drinks like beers had to wait for the fancier drinks to be made though. Not only are their drinks yummy, but their food is fantastic as well. A lot of it looks fairly expensive, but the pizzas were by far the best deal at $ 15. They were fresh and filling and DELICIOUS. Their desserts were fab as well. Basically everything on their menu looks good. Awesome reason #2. The staff was very kind and accommodating to our large party, and were quick with the clean ups. Another gem in their service was when I accidentally dropped my wedding band onto their floor and for the life of me couldn’t find it anywhere. We alerted a staff member, who quickly coordinated everyone to look around and it was found within seconds. Awesome reason #3! Not so awesome was when our man-of-the-hour gave his speech, and the staff chose to walk around amongst our crowd gathering up dishes and glasses, instead of waiting the extra few minutes. I guess they were trying really hard to keep the area clean? I would definitely consider coming here again with a smaller group just to grab some drinks and chill. It’s not cheap by any means(a beer for $ 10), but it’s certain an option for a fancy girls night out!
