Rude bartenders that didnt give my friend and I the time of day. Tried to make a complaint to the manager and he was even more rude than the bartenders. My friends paid for their dinner and left early. Then one of the waitresses told me they didnt pay their bill and I had to even though there was a receipt on the table proving it! cocky staff and boring food.

A very hipster vibe and love the ambience, it’s not too loud but still feels very much alive! I went on a Wednesday night and viola it was karaōke night! I took my shot at it LOL. Overall, it was fun but relaxing. A great place to unwind during the week. I will make sure to check it out on the weekend. A decent cocktail menu, I tried the rose all day which is great with watermelon and the blue buck as it was on special. Both drinks were great. The bartender was nice and kept checking on us to see if we were doing ok! We also tried the yam fries and the nachos, good eats!

Solid place. Not much of a tavern though, it reminded me of bar in Seattle and it had that hipster vibe. The boyfriend and I are and a couple of our friends are from Seattle and we were visiting Vancouver for the weekend and came here for some drinks! The drinks are pretty good and the service was great! Our server was always on point and made sure that our drinks were filled up and that we were always snacking on something. I had the cocktail Rose all Day and the Strange Brew. They were pretty good but I prefered the Strange Brew better. I need the recipe for Strange Brew so I can make it myself on the daily LOL. The cocktail, Rose all Day seemed really watered down but it was okay! The tavern was really toasty in there but what’s new there lol. Anyways the bathrooms were clean and our seating area was clean. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back to this place but I wouldn’t mind coming back here if I passed by it.

normally a name matches with the image the proprietor is trying to project. «Tavern» to me connotes an older bar, classic blues or rock n’ roll, low key and casual blue collar. Some people call it a «dive» bar, but a dive this place is NOT. What It IS, is a trendy bar that tries too hard to «ironically» appeal to hipsters complete with pinball machines and yes, the clientele are(ironically) dressed in industry threads. But what’s up with the loud hip hop music? on a side note, I like shooting pool and I really appreciate that they have(one) table– but it is the smallest one can buy and still call it a table, and positioned as it is so close to the door, people going in and out are bumping into those lining up for their shot, waiting their turn, or just watching the game at the tables by the wall. Which brings me to the layout– narrow, awkward, and conducive more to milling than sitting(wouldn’t be too bad, but the music is too loud to be heard while making friends or attempting to hook up). Reminds me of some of basements I partied in while in high school. Props for the 3 washrooms, one at a time(hopefully) and non– specific gender.

Pretty Solid After reading pages and pages of terrible review, I almost hesitated to book this place. However, I had to book a place for a group of 14 on the Saturday night, and this was the only place available, so I had to go ahead and book it. I have to say I am impressed. The service was fast and the bills were not confusing. The drinks are really good, although more of the generic side, but for a group of 14 it was perfect. They have my favourite beer on tap, which is a nice little bonus for myself :) the real bonus: we brought our own birthday cake, and they didn’t charge cake cutting fee(i think). Please don’t get discouraged by the other reviewers! I think this place is worth trying :)

Not the best, but not the worst! Traveled here on business and went with a co-worker. It was super quiet after a long weekend so nothing too crazy, but if anything — the STAFF was AWESOME. Great conversations and a little spot to play games in the back. Super casual, almost considered ‘divey’, but the people seem cool. As long as you’re rooting for the Canucks, you should be fine.

I would give this place a zero if I could. I made a reservation here, for my going away party. I sent an email giving them the date, time and number of people attending. I got an email back the day before saying it was confirmed with those exact details. My friends and I showed up, walked around both upstairs and downstairs for our reservation. No reservation was found. I found a waitress and she lied to my face after I explained the situation saying, «Oh some of your friends are already here and we already gave them free drinks.» This was bull because none of my other friends were there yet. I then talked to a manager about what happened and even showed him the email I got that it was confirmed. He said he would place my group up on the stage he then only grabbed one small round table and two stools and then took off the rest of the night even though he said he would be back grabbing more tables and stools(I had roughly 20 people for my group). So over the course of the night my friends and I took tables and stools from around the bar when people got up and leave to accommodate my group. We then did not get a waitress to come to us for 40 minutes and everytime we ordered something she would make us pay right there everytime and at times she would forget to bring drinks or food for a very long time. Horrible, horrible service. I will not go here again. Food and drinks were overpriced for what you really got.

Dive bars are usually not my scene, but I stumbled upon this place one night and it’s a great place to have some casual, unpretentious drinks with friends while indulging in some fun games! They have skeeball, pinball machines, and pool. It’s a unsuspecting dive bar in Yaletown. I would say this place is a slightly nicer/shi shi dive bar as the crowd is still a yaletown-ish crow, and the place is clean and not overly dive-y. Defn like, and would come back again.

good it you go on a weekday and are just going to play pool or play pinball. I wouldn’t attempt it on a weekend unless you want a squished lamplighter feel.

The bouncer at this place was terribly racist. Two of my girlfriends went to join my boyfriend and his friends late Friday night. He said it was free to get in. But when we had gotten there, we were told by the bouncer that we needed to pay $ 10 cover. My boyfriend stepped up and said«hey I didn’t pay», the bouncer’s reply was«yeah I know. And it’s $ 10 for these girls.» The only difference between him and us is that he was white and we were Asian girls. We were appalled at this, the $ 10 was nothing, but race discrimination is unacceptable. Needless to say, we will never be back.

I am appalled at the experience I had at the Tavern a few nights ago. One of the bouncers who was off-duty had been drinking heavily and me being gay, accused me of touching him and then proceeded to start a fight with me. He then went on to yell derogatory terms and threaten my life through messages the next morning to the point where the police had to get involved. I will be taking further action in filing a police report. I want Donnelly Group to know that they cannot have staff treating customers this way and I do not take lightly to hate crime and threats on my life. Aside from that, this place is ghetto as there is always trouble. They are always having problems with fights. Staff is mediocre, and most of them are usually drunk on shift. I would not recommend this place ever, and I will definitely spread the word to others to not waste their time.

Good patio on Hamilton. Food was horrible and cold. We didn’t finish anything we ordered. Service was friendly, but unprofessional. Would never go back or recommend.

A great place to grab a drink and appies. This used to be called Hooker’s Green and is now called Tavern but still part of Donelly Group. They have really good drink specials an cheap $ 3 beer selections! The food is ok, you typical pub fare but they do have good wings. And they have skee-ball! I love their patio area. Definitely good place to grab a drink and lounge with friends. It turns into a night club kinda place after 10pm tho. Not my kind if thing but otherwise it’s a good place to kick off you the night!

Good bar to hit up. The shirt ribs was great especially with the lime. $ 5 Jameson wuth pickle ba k was an added bonus. The bartender was nice enough to change to The NBA playoff game for us. The best part is the skee ball machine which was for $ 1 a game.
