This place sucks … Lots of UGLE ppl working there and the only kind of ppl there where fat! So if you wanna have a bad time and be a around a bunch of lousy ppl come here! P. S The bottle service sucks tell your bottle girls to get off there phones. And stop taking shots with our booze. I gave this place 5 stars so I’m right on the top of reviews. Don’t waste you$ or time …

The only thing that sucks is that guy Leo with those kindergarten tattoos. Luckily they make him work in the dish pit when it’s busy.

Not much of a scene here– it was pretty empty when I went– but man do they make a mean Whiskey Sour! It is worth going just for that. Do it.

When in Yaletown, and when in the mood for a cocktail(an actual cocktail, not one that looks like a 7⁄11 slurpee) you’re looking at a choice of Opus or The George. The Opus bar(part of the boutique hotel) is split in two: The wannabe trendy bar side and the more eloquent boutique lounge/restaurant side. My advice to is grab a seat at the bar on the boutique side and chat with the bar staff about mixology. By the way, on the contrary to other reviews here, the bar staff have always been very friendly and chatty when I’ve been there. Not sure what that’s about! As a local to the area my advice would be to go there Sun-Thurs and avoid the Yaletown weekenders.

We had heard good things about the cocktails so we popped in here on a Thursday evening about 6PM. It was a relatively sparse crowd, so I can’t comment on the ‘pretentiousness’ that some other commenters seemed consumed by. All I can say is that the cocktails we had were outstanding, that the menu was filled with more mouth-watering options than we had time for, and that the preparation of the drinks was meticulous. I would jump at the chance to go here again for a drink, and I would highly recommend the place to others. I can’t remember the exact names of our drinks, but I had a bourbon based drink that claimed to be barrel aged for 8 weeks, and my wife enjoyed a champagne-type cocktail with lemon. Both were 5 stars!

The Opus is just a stunning boutique hotel and the bar is an extension of this. The crowd is definitely the pretentious type but the overall vibe is still fun and cool if you are the type of person who can have fun anywhere. I think it’s a fun place to have a drink, people watch, and occasionally run into a celeb filming in town. The bartenders, however, are absolutely the worst in Vancouver. Never go the bar if you can order from the hostesses instead. The bartenders will flat out look you in the eye and go on about their way even though you’re the only person in line and they’re clearly not busy. If you’re an attractive woman, whole different story. Again these are the worst bartenders I’ve ever encountered in Vancouver. I’ve been going here for years so it’s not the same people. It must be part of their training for some reason. It must be noted the bouncers of all people, are probably the most courteous I’ve ever encountered. As the first people you meet when you walk to the bar, they make a good first impression. The Opus bar is definitely a Yaletown landmark, and must be checked out once for the people watching and the stunning design of the hotel.

We were staying at the hotel, so we checked out the bar. Definitely a popular nightspot, good ambiance, but drinks way too pricey.

They handled our huge group really well, but the drinks are very expensive. Friends who ordered beers said they were $ 9…

Not knowing much about Vancouver but eager to discover its sights n sounds I recieved a tip that OPUS was the spot to be at. Maybe getting there at 1130 was a little early for this place but people were still sitting down and eating. So I hung out at the main«horseshoe» shaped bar and just people watched. My only concern and question is if the people of Vancouver wear color? everyone was in grey or black, oh well. The female staff was good looking and the ladies walking in were looking good too. I can’t comment on the food but for a good bar with attractive singles, this might be the place.

OPUS bar is located in yuppie favorite Yaletown and part of a swanky boutique hotel — those two details alone should be sufficient to set ones expectations when venturing to this bar. If you’re looking for a comfortable, quiet, and cosy bar this is not the place for you. This is a place where Vancouverites get dressed up in their finest dark washed jeans. Am I being facetious — yes I am… but lets face it that’s what passes for high fashion in this city. Celebrity sightings are not totally uncommon here, the servers are all friendly and quick to bring your drinks, and you’re guaranteed plenty of beautiful people eye-candy. It’s also a bar targeting a slightly more mature age group with their larger disposable income — so no annoying teeny boppers knocking back B-52’s here and whoohooing it up. One shocking thing I discovered on my last visit to OPUS Bar, was that they aren’t allowed to do «real» bottle service there. So if you order a bottle of Goose for the table, be prepared to have your server take it away and bring it back out only when requested or when glasses start to go empty — thankfully Champagne & Wine are exempt from this strange rule.

We also hit up the Opus as part of my Work Christmas Party night out. Again, not my idea to come here but I like trying new places. I have no idea what the prices are like, or if there’s cover. I’m sorry, I know I’m not helpful in that area. What I do know is that the décor is nice and kinda funky, the bathrooms are clean, there are lots of bartenders so you get your drinks quickly and the drinks taste niiiice. The DJ was kind of a dink though. Oh, and there was one bitchy waiter, but over all the staff were nice, the bar had good ambiance and we had a good time while we were there.

High-end lounge that’s great for entertaining clients or a posh night out with your close friends. Comfortable atmosphere and good service. Also a good venue for intimate networking events.

This is a good spot to see and be seen on the weekends. I figured this out pretty quickly while staying at the otherwise quiet hotel. They have an incredibly stylish lobby and bar area where people hang out and listen to a DJ. The valet out front is usually lined with exotic cars.

Opus Bar exudes opulence in both atmosphere and priceyness of their drinks. This is a great place to hang with the haves before they turn into has-beens, and only gets better the later the night goes on. Not sure if it’s the dim lights that are deceiving on the eyes, or if it’s the one too many Vodka Tonics I shouldn’t have had, but the crowd looked better and better as the clock approached midnight. Not to mention too that the music also got more and more jamming. The cocktail waitresses were all uniformed in tuxedo tube tank dresses(with a huge bow across the boob). Hideous, but I guess uniformity promotes professionalism– well except for the one waitress who was throwing herself at the guys with table service and probably huge offshore bank accounts. Although pricey, one must come here at least once to experience the sass of Vancouver.

Up-market, swanky, fashionable, and swish are a few words that describe Opus Bar located in the boutique and equally voguish Opus Hotel. Here the crowd is painlessly beautiful, the cocktails served by budding male models, and the interior — with its glass beaded curtains and nightclub style lighting — is 100% designer chic. Be sure to come to this establishment with a thick wallet or cashed-up Visa in hand because the Caribbean inspired cocktails will have you wanting for more. Try their April Flowers that comes complete with edible orchid or perhaps the Sazerac is more your style with just«a hint of absinthe» to start off your night. To be honest Opus Bar really isn’t my style. I don’t do «pretentious» very well. But a good friend of mine likes it here(funny, she’s a very genuine type), so I’ve begrudgingly come along for her birthday and wedding after party. Both times we had a private party in the bar’s back room. This was great as we didn’t have to fight our way through the throngs of Opus Bar locals who hang like meat market fodder around the crowded bar. I would say to come here if you’re single and looking for something resembling a nightclub. If that is the case you’re sure to have a ball.

My sister and I trotted over to the Opus Bar in the renowned Opus Hotel in the Yaletown district, late on a Friday. We grabbed a seat at a wee table next to the dj and ordered a smashing bottle of white wine while we critiqued the crowd, always an entertaining bar game! We closed the place down around 3am after offering up song requests for the dj, including Marky Mark and The Funky Bunch’s classic gem, «Good Vibrations». Love it! The bar crowd was light on this particular Friday evening but I have heard it is quite a bit busier on a Saturday night. Our server was fantastic, very attentive while not being intrusive. Good atmosphere and good company.
