Super oldschool. Very friendly warm staff. I love that it’s still so 70s in there. The potions are very large. But it’s pretty expensive and the pasta is super bland. Had the ribs and somehow even that was bland. Hmm.

Awesome spot. Comfortable, quiet, old school family restaurant vibes. Epic portions. Spinach cheese tortellini pesto was insane and the tiramisu was literally the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend.

We went to Nick’s last night, after an event at the York theatre next door. We have always wanted to try this place, as we like«old school», so last night was the perfect opportunity. The restaurant is as described by other Unilocalers, with its own charm. However, sadly, the food was just not so good. We ordered lasagna and meat ravioli with rib. The lasagna was OK, but for $ 20, it was overpriced. The portion was OK, less than most other classic Italian restaurants. The ravioli was another matter. It tasted like frozen stuff, starchy and bland. The sauce was not balance, too much acidity. For the two of us, just two entrees, and half a litre of Italian house wine, came to $ 65 with tips. Sadly, we will not be back, even though we really wanted to like this place. In our opinion, there are better restaurants just a few blocks up on Commercial, much more deserving of our hard earned dollars.

One of the worst restaurant meals I have ever had. Outrageously priced. They feature ravioli at the top of the menu like it is their specialty but when it was served it was the small ones that are sold in grocery stores. To add to that it was served with a scant, and mean scant amount of meat sauce where I could barely find the meat. Anyone can make that sauce, it was probably canned. My husband ordered spaghetti and meat balls and the spaghetti was over cooked to the point of almost mushy. They charged $ 18 and $ 19 respectively for our meals. I have heard so much about this place so was looking forward to it but I will tell everyone I know not to go there. If you want good Italian food more reasonable priced head to Robson street. Nicks has no business charging those prices for the meals they are putting out. There is also a horrible smell in the place which doesn’t add to the ambiance, that warrants a call to the health inspector.

Upon entering Nick’s Spaghetti House you are transformed into a timeless classic Italian restaurant. Fully equipped with classic paintings, red and white checkered table cloths, wood panelling but where are the Italian love ballids? Nowhere to be heard– only the buzzing of the fridge and clanging of dishes :|. Food: medocre. It could be so much better! I did not get the noodle I ordered, rather a pesto raviole which was fresh once but tonight microwaved and too al dente for my liking. Cheese filing with spinach was flavorless. The meat raviole with mushrooms and tomato sauce had more flavour, but under sauced and watery at the end. We had to ask for some extra for our lteftovers. Not the place come for fresh Italian flavors. Makes up for this with the generous portions. As you walk in huge homemade cheesecakes tempt you to save room for dessert. If you like whipping cream, this is the cake for you. There is definitely more whipping cream than cream cheese which adds to the size. Strawberry glaze was getting stale. Crust nice and classic. For $ 60 unfortunately we won’t be back. Ciao xox

Nick’s gets an extra star for authenticity and nostalgia. This place defines OLDSCHOOL. Checkered table cloths and clients and staff that might have been in orbit of this place since their childhood. The décor,. I imagine 80s or ealier was the last time anyone touched ANYTHING. I have good memories myself of coming with my family once and again when my band played the NY Theatre in the 90’s next door. The food is nothing to write home about but good and large portions. Just your standard family Italian form the 80s that you would find in any small Canadian town. My friend who grew up working in a family restaurant noted all of the details that were identical to his dad’s place in Lethbridge. Unfortunately what would make a old place like this a go to hipster nostalgia joint and not what it is,. is price. $ 18 for generic spaghetti? the prices didn’t stay the same,. only the experience and the recipes. Worth doing every 10 years or so. May it survive Vancouver’s development boom, the city needs a few places like this to remind us of an earlier time.

Recommended to us by some friends — place didn’t disappoint. HUGE portions of delicious lasagna and clams fettucini. Very old school and down to earth. Will revisit :)

Hadn’t been here for over 10 years and now regret it. It was so good and love the old school décor. I had the lasagna and loved it. I had the cheesecake for dessert and would recommend saving room for it. We will be back.

Such a great place. If you like the old school Italian restaurant then this is it. Spaghetti and Meatballs was wonderful. I didn’t get dessert but saw a slice of the cheesecake go to another table and seriously had to rethink my decision. Would definitely go again.

If you weren’t planning on going to nicks spaghetti house it would be so easy to turn a blind eye passing by. Once you’ve had a plate of Nicks you won’t ever pass by this place again.

They’re really weird about their cheesecake. Won’t let you buy a whole cake or even more than one slice. They know it’s good but refuse to make extra?! At $ 6.25 a slice I think it’s a pretty good time and resource investment to whip up a few extra cheesecakes!

the most uninteresting food I’ve ever had at a restaurant. boiled ravioli with tomato sauce that tasted out of the can. not a drop of herbs, spice, nada. insulting to pay this kind of price for this awfully bland food. We also waited a full 30 minutes after ordering when there were only 4 other small tables occupied. waitress lady tried hard though, hence the one star.

Ok I still didn’t get my mom’s car tire thing resolved. It’s a long story and I’m sure no one is interested! Hell I’m not interested! Suffice to say I went back to the same tire store today to get the job done. I left my mom’s car at the shop and walked out to get some lunch and to kill some time. I ended up at Nick’s Spaghetti House for lunch. Ok the last time I had lunch at Nick’s is when the Vancouver Canucks were still playing at Pacific Coliseum! How do I know that you may ask… cuz the last time I was at Nick’s there were about 6 Canucks eating lunch there. They had just finished practice and were lunching at Nick’s! Ok… I ordered on of their Wednesday Lunch specials: the ravioli with the veal. Man they give you a lot of food! The plate was filled with ravioli and 2 large pieces of veal. Everything was fresh and tasty! I have to say I know this kind of sounds stupid, but I wished they gave me a little less food! I really wanted to try their tiramisu! The waitress says they make it fresh everyday! Wow! I’m coming back here! I’ll just eat less lunch next time!!!

Big portions, classic style and moderate(cheap) prices. I always have a huge doggy back of take away when I eat there because they are so generous with their servings. Classic and timeless is how I will always describe Nick’s.

Best family style Italian restaurant. The food is delish and the décor is old fashioned. I wouldn’t change any of it for the world. Bring four stomachs, the portions are huge!

Old school Italian restaurant, not many of these left. We started with a salad for two and some nice bread. I had the spaghetti and meatballs, pretty decent. Nice big serving as usual. Usually have the T-Bone and spaghetti which is still my fav. GF had a veggie pasta with spinach and cheese. Looked OK but this place is about the meat. Ordered a couple slices of the cheesecake to go, no matter how full you are you have to try this dessert. Got there early but by the time we left the place was packed with a line-up. Nice to see they can still pack them in.

The food was fantastic, tasty and old-school italian. The salad was just like my mother-in-law used to make. We had the spaghetti and meatballs and the ravioli with mushrooms. I couldn’t finish mine so I took it home. I think it’s a bit pricey because my partner was able to finish his plate of spaghetti and it cost about $ 18! Our two glasses of coke were $ 5.50 plus tax, no refills. The service started out great. The food came out quickly. In the end we had to wait over 15 minutes just to ask for the bill because the server came nowhere near our table or kept her back to us. We were left wondering if we had done something wrong or if we were being singled out because we aren’t regulars. The total bill for two people, one with leftovers to take home, including salad, pop, and two entrees was $ 57 including tip. This put this restaurant into the overpriced category for us and we won’t be putting this on our list for spots to eat on the Drive.

Came in with the wife last night for an anniversary dinner for two. Her first time here. Dinner was fast and quite delicious. Not too many items on the vegetarian side but i was satified with the spinach and cheese tortellini. She had the spaghetti and meat balls. I ordered extra bread… Pack up the second half of your meal for tomorrow’s lunch and choose the canadian house wine for a saavy meal that takes you to the past. ps/Server was rad.

Great family run spot that we found from a local. We were definitely the only tourists in the spot. Great meatballs and pasta was cooked perfectly, only downside was I felt the price was too high for pasta and a salad should come with a $ 16 spaghetti entrée.
