Came for a late late dinner one evening after coming to the hood for The Reef. I remembered what fantastic pizza this place had from a few visits years ago and so we changed course. Service was a little hipster if I may say so and very casual. We were one of maybe three tables of people in a restaurant that seats perhaps 50 and they really took their time coming over to take our order. So much so that I was ready to cross the street for the Reef just before our server finally came. I believe our food came in about twenty minutes and good thing too because we were hangry after a long day. One thing that really stuck out from the experience for me was how loud the two chefs in the back were all evening. They were beside each other but were talking loudly back and forth. Loud enough to drown out the now six or eight full tables. The pizza itself was good — we had a veggie deluxe in a deep dish style. Full of toppings and very much needed a knife and fork to consume. Maybe not the best pizza I’ve ever had but tasty! Cost was about $ 20 for a large with half of the pie taken home as leftovers. Leftovers were apparently just as good as fresh. 3.5 stars rounded down on account of the service/noise.

Just digging in to a meaty, cheesy plain and spinach tortellini with meat sauce. The deep red meat sauce that is served only in old school Italian places. Tonnes of cheese, nicely flavoured all through. My neighbours ordered take-out and the wrong dishes arrived, so I am the happy beneficiary of the mix-up. Very yummy, and reminiscent of late ’60’s home-cooking style. Beefy, big taste. Where’s the raffia-wrapped bottle of chianti? This is a happy reminder of what I’ve been craving for a long time.

This place is most excellent. Classic style pizza with thick, bready crust and lots of cheese and toppings. Not sure what else to say about their pizza other than it’s some of the best in the city. Besides pizza, they do a mean calamari dinner as well as a great souvlaki platter. I went there once for dinner after a long hike and it was awesome. Good service, cheap beer and fantastic food. I have also ordered in several times and have no complaints. If you’re feeling decadent, indulge in the baklava for dessert; good stuff.

Great food but I don’t like the idea of chefs long hair down his back with no hair net or any of the chefs with hair nets Wouldn’t want hair in my food Thanx

Ok writing this review while standing in front of the door of this place. Have been standing for more than 5 minutes and no one seem interested in seating us. Servers just passing without paying attention … Now leaving

Only eaten in this place once, but I get takeout at least once a month. Great food at a very reasonable price. Friendly staff. And the delivery is very quick too. I would recommend this place with no hesitation.

Ok, now that I’ve had more dishes I would stay away from pasta. Not sure what I was expecting for 6.50, but pizza and greek dishes are their strengths.

Fast delivery and attention to detail. These guys really care about their pizza, great dough, lots of Herby tasty sauce(I’ve been noticing every pizza place lately skimps on sauce, quality and quantity) My.favorite of all is they broil the cheese on top for roasted cheese flavour. THOROUGHLYIMPRESSED, this is the sort. of craft pizza I’ve been looking for without paying $ 25 for one pizza. They could be using the same toppings as everyone else but a well-made pizza is just as. important as anything. I’ve only ordered from there once, maybe it was DaVinci back there for one shift, but I will definitely order again. My god, good job guys.

A nice Italian/Greek diner near the end of the Drive. No frills here — just good home-style cooking. Parking is a bit scarce, but available on the side streets. The inside is honestly quite bare bones and dated, like something out of the 1980s. It does remind me a bit of someone’s villa patio though. The waitress was friendly and quite helpful with our food selection. Special mention goes to their special — free appetizer with a purchase of beer pitcher or litre of wine. So $ 16 or so for a jug and a dish of calamari. Sold. The batter was a bit on the crunchy side, but was otherwise nice and fluffy. Delicious. The Sunrise Super Special pizza reminds me of the Super at Romana’s(Burnaby Heights) before they sold the place last year. Thick toppings, plenty of meat, and really heavy. My friend and I got knocked out pretty nicely over this one. Spaghetti and ribs — ribs weren’t bad. Spaghetti(covered in meat sauce) was decent but nothing special. Sounds exactly as it tastes. This place isn’t fine dining, but it’s very good comfort food. I’d gladly come back for some nice low key food.

Good food, friendly server and fast service. I’ve tried Kalamari($ 7) and medium sized Oyster Shrimp Pizza and they were very delicious. The portion was big for 2 people and it was so filling.

Got delivery ordered the flame(m), chicken soulvlaki and kalamari. We got our order pretty quick! The flame is amazing! Spicy, cheesy, meaty, goodness… Kalamari was tastey! Soulvlaki was tender and the greek salad was so fresh and delicious! Defintely will be ordering again!

I love this place. I have never had any food here that I didn’t like. I love that every pitcher comes with a free appetizer. I am huge fan of their calamari and order it every time I come here. I have tried everything on the appetizer menu, the souvlaki, and pizza. The service is good and so are the portion sizes. Once in awhile they are a little slow bringing the bill but I like that they don’t hover too much and allow you to take as much time as you need without feeling rushed. The décor is outdated but that’s really my only complaint. I like to come here to split a pitcher with friends, hang out, and enjoy the calamari that I often crave. Yum!

Great Old School Pizza — 20% discount if your order before 4 pm and dine in. Enjoyed a great pizza today with my son. We were very happy with the food and service. Melissa, the waitress is a gem of a waitress and this review turned into a five star, as a result. A small pizza can provide @ 8 smallish slices for @ $ 12 with a tip. Great deal for a quality pizza with plenty of cheese and quality meats. Hard to find that in a $ 2.50 pizza by the slice. This pizza brings back memories of how pizza tasted like back in the 80’s for me. Of course, the ambiance of the restaurant brings you back to that era automatically.

— Decore reminds me of a southern American place from a number of years ago. — Pizzas take a while. It wasn’t busy and it took 25 minutes for the pizza to come to my table — They are quite tasty and the portions are large. The small is more than enough for fully grown man. You could probably share one small between two people for lunch — can be expensive. $ 18 for small pizza, coke and tip

Let’s be clear, Sunrise is not to be confused with a gourmet or Neapolitan style pizzeria. This is as old school as it gets and within this context it remains my favourite in Vancouver. A tad bready but that’s old school. No skimping on the toppings. Cheese, and lots of it, a good homemade sauce, always piping hot when delivered and always delivered in good time. But if you want the true experience go for dine-in. Classic 70’s look to the building, super friendly servers, and an authentic old school vibe. If you want the Neapolitan experience, and I often do, head for Via Tevere. But if you want a fresh, hot, satisfying and substantial pie then Sunrise is the best in the city.

Kitch, cheesey, tacky, but decent pizza. My partner and I had dinner there last evening after turning away from a 90 minute wait for a table at Nick’s Spaghetti House. Décor: 1980’s greek diner with chairs to match along with formica tables from the same decade. They’ve packed the tables in so tight you’re back-to-back with the guy behind you. the fake barrel tile roof on the inside has a thick layer of dust, as does occasional straw decorations scattered about. The room is brightly lit and heat was a option they seemed to have overlooked in January. Service: Meh… when you enter the sign asks you to wait to be seated. When we arrived we were told from bar to ‘pick any seat you want.’ two servers cover then entire place, each taking orders. Water is served once and you need to ask for refills. Food: The Calamari was over cooked and you have to eat it quickly as there’s no heat in the restaurant so it chills quickly. We ordered their large meat based pizza. It was okay. A bit wet in the middle probably from the vegetables. It too chills really fast. Prices: Not too bad… $ 17+ for a large loaded pizza. Would we go back? Probably not but would consider ordering a take away pizza. But with so many choices for pizza on the drive i’d like to try all the others first.

Let all those other places serve flatbread and Napolenta pizza. This place serves as deep a dish as you’ll get this side of Chicago and they don’t spare the cheese or toppings. It’s my kind of pizza — before it got trendy and was still the stuff a Ninja Turtle would feast on. If you go in expecting that kind of pizza, you won’t leave unsatisfied. The pasta dishes are pretty decent and their alcohol specials are solid(if you’re into that kind of thing).

Sunrise Pizza & Steak House is this eclectic mix of pizza, pasta, souvlaki, steaks, bbq, and lobster tails. But, we were there for the pizza. From the outside this place looks like a typical American pizzeria. You know the place, mediocre pizza filled with video games and little leaguers. Well, I didn’t see any video games and there were no teams celebrating a big win(or loss), but the pizza was definitely the pizza of our childhood. It wasn’t a cracker thin crust served with truffle oil and arugula. It was a medium thick crust piled high with toppings and smothered in cheese. Yes, there is better pizza to be found in the city, but this one took us back to our childhood and that was awesome. The pizza could have been cooked a little more thoroughly. The crust was fully cooked, but I like my cheese a little more bubbly. But, with a pizza this loaded with toppings, it’s hard to get everything really cooked through. The greek salad for two was delicious and way more than we needed. The two of us only ate half of our salad and half of a medium pizza. Both made great leftovers.

I called to book a reservation, however, the lady on the phone didn’t take it properly. She didn’t even bother to take my name. I had to remind her to take the proper information from me. This left a weird taste in my mouth prior to arriving. When I got there I mentioned a reservation and the ladies were clueless. In other words, someone was home, however, the porch light wasn’t on. You don’t need a reservation, they should’ve told me that on the phone instead of pretending to take my information down. My friend and I arrived there just before dinner service and it was still fairly empty yet it took the waitress 20 minutes to even take our order. When the food was ordered it came in decent time, however, we waited almost another 20 minutes from the time of requesting the bill. The waitress was friendly enough, however, part of service is efficiency on all levels which is why I found it difficult to give more than 12% tip. The food itself is Greek, Pizza and Americano(I made up a genre… live with it). It’s your typical fast food Greek place on The Drive, therefore, you get what you pay for. Both my friend and I dined, tip included, for $ 24. This isn’t a gluten free establishment but I was able to play it safe with a Greek salad and chicken rice soup. The décor meets rustic Greek home crossed with an English Legion pub. Very uninviting, however, after a good 30 minutes I appreciated the kitsch. It reminded me of the Spaghetti Factory. It was weird that they were playing the radio instead of just plugging an ipod with a playlist. You want music that encourages one to stay a bit longer.
