Wasn’t sure what to expect because I’ve never heard of a caramel coffee bun. Walked into a café type place with 2 main seating areas, with the counter inbetween. They serve a variety of teas and coffees, in addition to the«karak». In their fridge, they had prepackaged wraps, sandwiches, salads and juices. So many choices for bun accompaniments: Pappa Cream Cheese, Local Organic Jams, Fresh Fruit, Nutella, Kaya, Maple Syrup, Honey, Whipped Cream, Ice Cream, Dark Chocolate, or Caramel. Chose whipped cream and strawberries which turned out to be perfect! The karak tea was also a new experience. Imagine chai tea but stronger. I loved it! Packaged teas and coffee available for sale but didn’t see karak. I was pleasantly surprised that the bun was light and fluffy. Returned a second time and my choice this time was nutella. It came with bananas. I would have to say that strawberries and whipped cream is my first choice, I am positively hooked on these buns. I bought some to take home and they were still delicious and just as decandent when warmed up.

Being a Malaysian like myself, you can only imagine my anticipation and excitement when my party of 3 and I stumbled upon PappaRoti in Vancouver. PappaRoti was beautiful founded in a small domestic Malaysian kitchen by a mothers’ intuition of crafting the perfect«Roti»(bread bun). In my younger days, Roti was the perfect staple of snack time! Growing up, I’ve delightfully purchased these buns for a mere RM1.50! Needless to say, my anticipation for PappaRoti to sweep me off my feet were expected to be monumental. The space inside PappaRoti is quite homey with a flair of modern-hipster look. There were several very cute string lights draped over the windows and along the walls. Customer service was superb as well; they were patient and quick to assist! It wasn’t long until our warm toasty Roti finally made way onto our table. I ordered the Roti with a side of Kaya and Maple syrup. PappaRoti also has other pairings that deliciously compliment the buns like ice cream, Nutella, etc. The Kaya and Maple were both wonderful additions to the Roti bun. Kaya, also originally from Malaysia, is sweet coconut jam. The bun had the perfect consistency in outer coffee crust crisp with a soft, buttery center. It was definitely nostalgic and hit a soft spot for me during a reminisce of my childhood in Malaysia. I highly recommend making a stop here if you’re ever in the area or have never had the pleasure of indulging in the deliciousness of a Coffee Roti Bun. You won’t regret it for a second!

I won a giveaway contest from instagram and was given the opportunity to try out pappa roti for the first time and it was great! The roti buns are what they’re famous for and for good reason. It was so light and fluffy in the middle with a nice crispy crust that flaked off without being too sweet. we were also given two huge scoops of ice cream for our topping which complimented the bun perfectly! Such a delightful treat! We also tried their sandwiches which were nothing special but good. Same with their matcha latte, very faint matcha flavour with minimal latte art. Overall, come for the buns, you will not regret it! (PS. Thank you to Pappa Roti and @candycomplex on instagram for the giveaway!)

This little hideaway café on Robson street is so good! Looks like a boring and simple bun, but tastes magnificent! I had the cinnamon apple and ice cream sides with mine, classic option but can easily be eaten on its own without sides, it’s that good! The café is clean with lots of tables, wifi, and outlets. The washroom is nice and clean as well. Please open more locations: D

I first thought they sell Roti but turned out the buns had nothing to do with roti. It’s just a name! Service was really friendly and the bun was delicious — not sure if it’ll taste as good to go, I’d recommend you eat it warm! Kaya was really good, but if it was your first time, try it as is.

Ordered a nutella and banana bun and it was delicious! The buns are slightly crispy on the outside and light and flaky on the inside. The nutella and banana complemented the sweetness of the bun really well. The café was pretty full when we arrived at around 10pm, but thanks to Angela’s cunning ways we managed to snag some seats! The place is nicely decorated and well-lit. Will definitely be returning to try some more buns!

We went in on a Monday night. We called ahead bc last time we attempted to eat here there, there were no buns… ridiculous really it’s like Starbucks saying they are out of coffee. In anycase we got 1 banana/nutella bun and one honey/kaya, a latte and my karka tea came to $ 19.50. The counter staff was rude, we weren’t even acknowledged at first. We ordered and the banana came out with what looked like a hair. When I presented this to the rude counter staff she argued with me after picking whatever fiber off the banana with her bare hands!!! I stood in disbelief. Then she says she will get me a new banana bc «there are lots of bananas laying around here». What’s with the comment? Anyway I thanked her. The tea was odd and tasted overly steeped and bitter. The buns are seriously no big deal and are overpriced. Tried it, done with it.

After two years of saying I wanted to try this place out, I finally did! I wasn’t sure what to expect with regards to the menu, pricing, atmosphere, etc so I walked in and was pleasantly surprised. This place is super cute. It’s bigger than it looks so there are quite a few seats, and the interior is really nice. When we went the place was full but the noise level wasn’t too bad(lots of people doing work). We ordered a tea, a fruit smoothie, and two coffee bun sets. We got a coffee bun with strawberries and whipped cream, and one with nutella and sliced bananas. The coffee buns are really good. They are the perfect amount of sweetness. They are also super soft on the inside while crisp on the outside. My first cut into my coffee bun almost made me tear up… the texture of the bun was so perfect… The drinks were just normal. The pricing is quite good too. The drinks are priced reasonably compared to other places in the area, and $ 4.25 for a coffee bun with toppings is a pretty good deal. Will be back again!

5 stars for the bun! I ordered one classic bun and I regret it. because I should have ordered one DOZEN. these are amazing! soft and light on the inside, the outside is slightly crisp and sweet and the after taste is milky with a hint of coffee flavor. awesome warm with a cup of coffee or glass of milk. these are best fresh. loved that this place was open late! I’m dreaming about these buns…

I first tried this place in Dubai, U.A.E. When I stumbled upon this in Vancouver, I lost my mind. I obsessively re. ember the coffee buns. But never did I try it with their toppings. Oh what deliciousness! Slightly caramel crisped edges with a soft buttery inside. Goes great with a matcha latte. I am making this a stop whenever we drive up from Seattle. Even if it is a trip to Whistler. The turkey cranberry brie sandwhich was also heavenly. Such savory addictions for café snacks. Nice atmosphere to do work in as well. And when it’s not raining, outdoor seating if you’d like you pup to accompany you. So glad I stumbled upon this forgotten favorite :) Makes my tummy happy.

I had my PappaRoti fill! I’ve had PappaRoti in Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, etc. I still have NO idea why they don’t have these in the states!!! They have them in SO many countries but none in the U.S. :(So when I saw that they had them here in Vancouver, I jumped at the opportunity. And I’m happy I did. I’m surprised I was able to walk out without buying another one to go. PappaRoti, I love you and your coffee buns.

My hubby and I went here for breakfast before going on a bike ride around Stanley Park. We split the Nutella & banana bun and the strawberries and whipped cream bun. I had never had a sweet bun before like this style. I loved the slightly flakey exterior with the soft/buttery almost almond-y interior. Their coffee is smooth & creamy! We met the owner who was incredibly nice & helpful. Will definitely be back each time I am in the area unless they expand to Portland, OR. :)

Came by for one of their signature buns after hearing my friends raving about it. Parking is available on the side streets. Robson, not so much. The inside is classy and upscale. The entire building is new, so this is a given. Nice pale wood and metal décor. Staff are friendly and casual. No complaints there. $ 3.50 for a single signature bun?! Yikes. And that’s just for the bun. No toppings. Things like jam, sauces, fresh fruit, or ice cream are another $ 1.25 each. The buns look large, but the inside is one giant air pocket. I could probably squish it into a ball with my hands and eat it in one bite. There’s a nice coffee and butter taste to the bread, but I have trouble justifying the cost. With that said, the coffee looks more reasonable at $ 2 – 4, but I didn’t try. The food quality is good, and this place would be good for a date, but unless one has deep pockets, this may not be the most prudent venue for a daily coffee.

They are famous for their buns!! sweet &savory mixture flavor! Really delicious. Can’t go wrong: p Coffee & tea here are also a great match too. Nice place with lots of seats. It’s perfect for small group or one or two to catch up and meet up.

This place basically just sells buns. The original famous coffee bun. It’s a limited menu with just buns on it. But… it’s the most beautiful rounded shaped bun that tastes heavenly. The buns are twice baked and it is soooo llight and crispy on the outside, but soft like pillows inside. The buns are very lightly coated with caramel. I had the original coffee bun with a side of apricot topping and coffee. I ordered one, but in the end, couldn’t resist ordering another :) They have a selection of local jams that you can have with your buns, and other sides such as nutella, maple syrup, dark chocolate, cream cheese a few others It’s a bit on the pricier side, but it’s not a bad treat to have now and then.

I’m not sure about other people, but when my friend said we were going to Papparoti for a snack, I thought I was in for some good flatbread & assorted sides. So when I got there, I was looking at their menu, seeing their teas, buns and sandwiches, and I still wondered where their hot savoury dishes were — the worker had to point out to me that roti is a sweet coffee bun: P It was one of the best things I tasted, so I brought another friend here last night. Even she had no idea what Papparoti served this stuff, based on their name. Anyhow, their buns are amazingly good — coffee cream baked on top of the sweet bun, with a super toasty crispy exterior, and melt-in-your-mouth interior, and a little lump of butter melted into everything. I think this bun is addicting on its own, but it is so incredibly good with Nutella! Pricing for the buns *are* a bit steeper, thats why I’m knocking a star off. It seems as though the price was $ 4 during 2014, but when I went yesterday, it was something like $ 3.50, plus a topping for $ 1.25(compared to last year’s pricing of $ 1.50). I also had a medium soy lavender latte(cost $ 5.xx), which I left mostly unfinished. it tasted a bit like lavender, not in a nice way(somewhat.bitter??), but I didn’t enjoy the drink at all. My friend got a regular latte, and she said it was one of the worst she’s ever had :/Maybe I’ll stick with a pot of tea next time. Anyway, my evening drink and snack ended up being over $ 10, which is pretty steep. I’ll rethink my beverage choice next time, but I’ll still come back for the bun, even though its a bit pricier(and this is coming from a frugal shopper!).
