Very yummy food at very reasonable prices. I can honestly say that this was one of our lunch highlights of our stay in Vancouver. We had sushi and udon noodle soup for lunch, very tasty and satisfying on a rainy day. We had tempura shrimp which was fried heaven. From the spicy udon to simple chicken udon. Fresh, flavorful and variety in a cozy corner away from the rain. The bill came to $ 47 for the five of us, which is a really great price for the quality of food. Over all, if we ever come back to Vancouver, we are DEFINITELY coming back here.

This was ok. A friend told me about it so thought I’d give it a try for lunch. Had spicy tuna and tataki sushi. Portion a little small and no tea :(. Price for what you get is not that good when compared to a a lot of lunch sushi sets. Service was ok’ish. Would give it another shot to try dinner menu when its a bit mroe lively.

I was attending one of my friend’s store gala on Saturday night with some friends. We were out on Robson street and after the gala we decided to grab some dinner. There are lots of restaurants and to be honest I really don’t know how we ended up at Robson Sakaba Vanvan. We were in the mood for Japanese food and this place was the most convenient? Probably. Anyways, this is a hapa place and I don’t like hapa food! The dishes are small and they expect you to order a bunch of them so you have to rack up the bill to get full! I prefer real Japanese food. rolls, sushi… that kind of stuff. Robson Sakaba’s lunch menu looks good but their dinner menu is pretty disappointing. We ordered a bunch of dishes and spent like $ 40 each for a truly below average meal! The service staff is made up of bunch of Japanese kids. English is a problem here! It’s hard to understand what they are saying and it’s hard for them to understand what you are saying to them! Not a fun experience. Sorry but I won’t be coming back to Robson Sakaba again. If I’m going to spend $ 40 I expect a better experience than I can get here! After dinner I went to Tim Hortons and tried a Chocolate Chill! Compared to my dinner the Chocolate Chill was awesome!

Dommage…

This place is amazing. Come here for 3 things: phenomenal service, good beer and great food. Not teriyaki and tempura. I’m talking real Japanese food, delicious… Noriko is the best waitress and adorable!!!

Nice looking place. Poor food. The oden & shishamo were fine. We also had some sashimi that was okay-ish, but it seemed to have been butchered with a serrated knife into awkward chunks that had to be pulled apart with your fingers. After that, it was like the Tacoma Narrows bridge disaster. My wife ordered tako-yaki, which is supposed to be grilled in a cast iron pan but instead was deep fried — something never done in Japan — for a good reason. Negi-toro is supposed to be tuna belly minced with green onion. This one was more puréed into a paste, and icy cold, plopped on some soggy rice. The yaki-nasu(«grilled eggplant») was icy, icy cold, and marinated in obscene quantities of liquid smoke. This is one of only two vegetables on the whole menu. I think this is the only time I’ve left a restaurant angry.
