My friend fell in love with the girl who served us tonight. I fell in love with the food.

Loving this place! Great alternative to ramen I think. I love the Mentaiko and Clam Soup Spaghetti the most. :)

This place is perfect if you’re craving a light yet filling bowl of spaghetti. The space is small and simply decorated but very cozy at the same time. We were seated immediately because it was a rainy Monday night and it was quiet. App 1: Regular sized green salad with soy sauce dressing(A+) — The savory, light dressing complimented the crisp, almost sweet greens nicely and it comes in a cute squeeze bottle on the side so you can use as much as you’d like App 2: Pork chili oil dip(A+) — My companion loved this. It’s on the heavier side but nice to have on a cold, drizzly evening when you want something greasy but not too much of it :) Main 1: Regular sized mentaiko(A-) — Slightly drier than the first time I had it a while ago. It was still delicious and came with mushrooms, seaweed and prawns. Light and hearty at the same time. Main 2: Large double meat(A-) — The large is $ 1 extra and I would suggest it only when you are feeling quite hungry. The sauce is very meaty and comes with parmesan on the side and is topped with diced hard boiled egg. All in all it was delicious in a cozy atmosphere with really good, attentive service. We plan on trying everything on the menu! :)

Great Japanese pasta! The double meat was wonderful. This place really reminded me of Japan with the good food and top notch service!

Husband’s Tomato Cream pasta had bacon in it, which was NOT listed on the website. As someone who doesn’t eat pork, this is disappointing. Something major(like meat) should be listed when describing a dish.

This place has pretty good Japanese style spaghetti. It’s a small space; we were quoted a 15 min wait and I think we waited about 10 minutes. I found the restaurant a little chilly though, even once we were seated. For each dish, you get a complimentary garlic bread. These came out to start, and they were very green, for some reason. However they were buttery, crunchy, and tasty. I ordered the clam soup spaghetti($ 12) after reading my friend’s review of the place. It was a creamy bacon-y soup with al dente pasta and about 6 clams. There were also mushrooms and a few pieces of spinach, potato, and tomato. I was able to finish the entire thing, and I liked how it stayed hot throughout. The soup is kind of like a chowder. I would get this again. I also tried a bite of the Neapolitan pasta($ 12+1) and Clam pasta($ 13). I found the Neapolitan sauce a bit sweet and ketchuppy for my taste. For $ 1 more, their pastas can be made a large and I think it’s a pretty good value. The Clam pasta had a light gingery sauce, and since I don’t really like ginger, it wasn’t my favourite. But my mom thought it was okay. Again, all spaghetti is made perfectly al dente. For dessert, I had the matcha shaved ice($ 4.50). This was so good!!! I’m definitely coming back for this. It’s one of the fluffiest shaved milk ices that I’ve had. Then they drizzle condensed milk and sprinkle matcha powder on top for flavour. I could probably eat one all by myself. Spaghetei doesn’t have an extensive menu, but they are good at what they do. I definitely want to go back to try their other pastas and to have their shaved ice again. Also, their service is very friendly and attentive, which is awesome. This place will stay on my list for downtown eats!

These guys really shine at their mentaiko(salted cod roe) spaghetti. Everything else on the menu is alright, but this. This is a creamy, slightly spicy sauce, with grated mentaiko in it. It’s got a hint of savory cod roe taste, but it’s not overpoweringly fishy. Last time I had it, they had squids and mushrooms topping it, but looks like it’s changed to shrimp and mushrooms. The texture and flavour of dish works really, really well. This is the most unique take on spaghetti I’ve had so far and I keep coming back just for the mentaiko. As I said earlier, other menu items are decent, but nothing really notable and a bit expensive for spaghetti. I’m all about that salted cod roe.

SPAGHeTEI is pretty bomb. I’d much rather walk a few blocks down to this place than go somewhere else and pay $ 3000 for a plate of pasta. Everything here is very well priced. You can also choose«sizes»(how much pasta you get) which can contribute to changes in the price(but they’re insignificant imo). The menu is really good too. They have just about all the classics. My favourite is the chicken pepperoncino. So good. If you come at lunch, they have 3(or was it 4) pastas on lunch special with drinks/desserts 50% off. The crème brûlée was very satisfying. The inside is super cute, the service is great, and food is good. They get busy during peak hours though so you might have to be prepared to wait. It’s so worth it tho so just do it!

Came by on a Sunday night and it was pretty busy. They have a small door entrance and the seating area is also open so people walk in from there as well. I went in from the small entrance b/c I didn’t want to disturb the diners and just waited for a waitress to approach me as it was very busy and I understand that. However, a woman walked in from the open seating area right when a waitress was coming towards the«hostess stand» and put her name on the waiting list right away even though I had arrived earlier. The waitress also saw me waiting but did not say anything about it… huh ok. Weird. Anyways, I put my name down on the list and it was about a 15 minute wait. My bf and I ordered the two«famous» spaghettis on their menu and they were just okay. A table that came after us received garlic bread so we asked where ours was since we had already received our meals(but no bread) and they themselves were surprised that we didn’t receive it yet. After we both finished our plates, the garlic bread decided to show up… a little late eh? It was about a 2 star experience, but the servers looked really stressed and it seemed that there was lack of communication between the front & back of house. So I can’t really blame them since they could only do so much. I feel like there is a lack of management but this place could really shine with better training for their employees.

Fairly unique Japanese style, I’m loving it! Regular size is pretty enough for me. I got the Barayaki (バラ焼き)one which is only 9.8 $ within the happy hour. The service is a little poor since they had only 2 waitresses in the restaurant.

Went here with some friends after wandering around aimlessly on Robson St. and we all remembered a friend suggested this place to us. Cute little place tucked away. What really drew me in was their sign advertising the barayaki spaghetti. I had no idea what barayaki was, but I just had to order it. The pasta was perfectly al dente, and the barayaki meat was great. Sweet and savory, I was happy that I ordered a large serving for a dollar extra. It was very worth it. Also, I was digging the look of the garlic bread, but it was definitely on the lighter side of flavor. I prefer my garlic bread to have a stronger flavor, but that’s okay. The service was also top notch. Very attentive and friendly staff. If I ever find myself in Vancouver again, I’ll definitely have to visit SPAGHeTEI again and order a plate of barayaki spaghetti.

I was craving for Japanese style pasta last week and wonder besides Café de L’orangerie any other good one in Vancouver? Unilocal is my best friend now! I found SpaghetTei on Robson St. We went there on Sunday noon without any reservation and waited for 20 mins before we got the table. Garlic breads — It’s complimentary. Not bad. Mushroom salad — Fresh and good in-house salad sauce Scallops and mushroom — It’s ok just a bit greasy. Meat sauce with shrimps — I ordered regular size pasta and served in huge portion of spaghetti. Neapolitan — Good and tasty with chicken, sausage and bacon with ketchup-based tomato sauce. Nothing would go wrong for huge portion spaghetti with reasonable price food in downtown.

Fantastic meal at SpaghetTEI! :) We walked in on a Tuesday night at 8:55pm and were told they only take orders until 9pm so I was a bit confused since they say they close at 10pm. However, we quickly decided on what we wanted to order and got our order in. My husband ordered the Double Meat Sauce and I ordered the Mentaiko and Shrimp. They were both delicious. The waitress walked over when we were about done our meal and apologized and asked if we were rushed. We told her it was ok and she explained that they close a bit earlier on weekdays. We had no problem, the meal made up for the confusion! For you beer lovers– they offer $ 4 Sapporo pints! Not on special… but all the time! $ 12.80 for a whole pitcher :) I will definitely go back to SpaghetTEI!

oishii-so! i first had jap spag a long long time ago, when i lived in japan and, while similar to it’s italian and american cousins, jap spag is decidedly lighter for as per the japanese(and my) preference. my sister pointed me at this joint which she stumbled upon a few months earlier with her pals. she wouldn’t shut up about it so we came here for din last week(guu with garlic was outta control wait) so that we wouldn’t shut up about it either. this place is small and even though it was later in the dinner hour, there was still a slight wait(granted, we had 5 peeps). we started with a couple apps — mentaiko tofu(my fave), buttered scallops(eat it with the garlic bread!), and that stir fried beef(i’d skip this one). you probably don’t need to roll with starters because the pasta sizes are decent(3 to choose from — sm, md, lg) but it was late and we was hongray so we got apps! DEALWITHIT… i felt like going full japanese with the mentaiko(cod roe) and prawn and even added a side of slimy ass natto. umami for days, son! lmao! i prefer my pasta just slightly more al dente but otherwise, this pasta bowl was great. fair warning: natto ain’t for freshmen, only OGs — it’s smelly and slimey(not unlike myself) but it’s japanese style straight up — word to travis scott! you’re on robson and feel like something different yet kinda familiar, hit this up. they have a happy hour too where the pasta is on mad discount. woot.

Happy New Year Now let the anger begin. I returned here after freezing my ass off waiting for a bunch of Vancouverites to jump into the ocean for the Polar Bear Swim every New Years Day. Since most places were closed on this day, Spaghetei was crowded. The narrow hall to queue up is so small, two overweight people couldn’t pass each other by without getting their ass, dick or box touched. There was a reserved table which sat empty as a group of 4 and myself waited for over 15 mins. being completely ignored. 2 other groups came in and left because no host could see them. I was fucking annoyed but held out hoping for redemption. I ordered the Yakiniku Chaliapin : BBQed tender beef with home-made chaliapin sauce made with soy sauce, onions and garlic. Sounds good right? It would have been if it didn’t take forever to arrive. It tasted alright. Slightly better than what I could have made at home. And I suck at cooking! Yeah, so it was just okay. It lacked the love I tasted the last time I was here. The meat tasted old or gamey. The noodles lacked salt and there were no condiments on the table like salt, pepper, anything! Service was bad. Server didn’t come to refill the water. Took forever to get the bill. I even heard another party having to loudly request their bill. I’m disappointed that such a great place was a let down the second time around. I doubt I’ll come back.

I stumbled upon this place on a cold fall night while searching for some food to warm me up. The menu looked interesting from what was posted on the wall so decided to give it a try. The place is very cute, makes you feel like you have entered a hole in the wall place in Japan. The servers are very nice and most of them are recent imports from Japan! The décor definitely has an asian feel to it but I couldn’t put my finger on the theme that the owners are trying to emulate. They start you off with garlic bread, which was just ok and I would’ve much prefered a whole grain baguette as opposed to the tasteless white bread. For my main I tried the Barayaki pasta, which looked the most authentic. The noodles were tasty and thin but the meat and vegetables just tasted bland. Overall, I’d say give this a try if you are curious as how the Japanese prepare spaghetti but otherwise find yourself a nice Izakaya place to entertain your taste buds.

Yum I love their Japanese style pasta and to be honest, I actually like it better than Moncton Café’s! At first I wanted to give 4 stars but then I thought about it carefully and out of the 4 or 5 places where you can get Japanese style pasta, I believe that Spaghetei makes the best! Their green garlic toast is very interesting and their menu is full of inexpensive appetizers. We came in a large group of 8 for my friend’s birthday and they were extremely accommodating on a Friday night. The location is quite good since it’s right on Robson, close to other popular eateries such as Nero and Stepho’s but it is a bit of a walk if you take the sky train to downtown. My favourite item on the menu was probably the clam soup spaghetti which was amazing! My friend got this and everybody kept taking sips of his soup. Anyways, the staff here are very friendly and they also mentioned that they have lunch specials for less than $ 10! Too bad I work so far away though.

*3.5 stars* Japanese spaghetti… What an interesting concept! My fam and I happened to stumble upon this place on a random weekday lunch. We were actually craving for Ramen but everywhere else was busy so we thought why not check it out? And my 2YO nephew loves Spaghetti! I’m glad we did! The idea is simple yet innovative — spaghettini but with an Asian flare(like Japadog!). We tried the house specials — spaghetti with meat sauce, and mentaiko with shrimp. The portions(even for a small) were quite big, but then again it is a bowl full of carbs! The meat sauce tasted like a sweet BBQ sauce. The mentaiko was very tasty and the shrimps were a good size(except it could have used a few more). They started is off with some garlic bread with a spinach and bitter(green) spread on it. I didn’t try it but my nephew loved it(and he usually hates anything green). At $ 13 for a regular bowl(-$ 1 if you want a small, +$ 1 if you want a large), it’s not the cheapest… but they do have daily lunch specials for $ 8 which are a pretty good deal.
