Absolutely delicious sushi! The quality is fantastic for such a low price. And the service was great as well. Will come back someday

Whenever I’m in Vancouver I stop here for sushi. Sushi in general is better in Vancouver than in seattle however this place is extra special. The place was a cozy, family feel to it. And has a nice ambience. The food prices are unbeatable, probably due to all the competition from numerous sushi places nearby. At first I felt the quality might not be as good but that definitely wasn’t the case. We ate here on Saturday or lunch and loved it so much we were back on Sunday. The owner is a funny, generous man. I look forward to my next visit to Vancouver just for sushi.

I looked for food on Robson and a few places closed already. Then we found this place, so we popped into the place for some hot food and sushi. It was a small restaurant, with six tables. A young girl greeted us and lead us the way to the table. We ordered the food quickly and they were scallop sushi, Chicken with egg on rice and combo B(pork cutlet with gyoza and salad). The scallop was great, and fresh. On the combo, it was average quality. The biggest problem on this combo tray was the pork. The cutlet had only half the meat and the rest was flour. It looked big in size on visual, but no enough meat for dinner set. If I paid $ 10 for dinner, I could find better deal somewhere else. My friend had the chicken with rice and she found it tasted weird. It was dried and cold. She felt the meat was cooked a few hours ago and not fresh. There are so many places to dine at Robson St and the food quality they offered here was just meet the bar. I may not likely to visit them again in the near future.

Coming from the East coast of the states, I was expecting a lot more. Got one of the $ 9 combos and felt like a just ate a bunch of rice. Very little fish. Sushi place I go to back in the states is way better. Wanted to go to Sushi Itago but they were closed today for Labor Day. I would go elsewhere. The one positive is that the little fish that I did have tasted fresh.

We came across this place looking for sushi while we were visiting Vancouver. We were very pleased with the service and even more pleased with the food. For fresh sushi, the prices were so reasonable and it tasted so delicious! The sushi combos are a great deal and the atmosphere is really cool too. I wish there was a place like this in my hometown, I would visit it everyday!

Delicious meal and warm customer service. I would have given 5 starts if it wasn’t for a long wait for the food. Overall it’s a nice restaurant and totally recommend it.

I’m a huge sushi fan, primarily because it’s all my girl friend would eat(no seriously… being a pescetarian puts a restriction on things). I like to try out any and all places when I can. So I’m not really sure why there are so many good review for this place. My experience was significantly different than most of the posts. We ordered the tako wasabi. Generally we do this when it’s on the menu because not a lot of places have it. We often compare our experiences with the tako wasabi with Coquitlam’s Sushi California(the best there is). This tako wasabi did not have very fresh octopus and the sauce was overly salty. Kinda disgusting to be honest. I can pretty much eat anything no matter how bad it can be, but we just couldn’t finish it. Then I ordered the Chirashi don. I was expecting a bit of everything, but all they gave me was tuna and salmon. They didn’t use very fresh tuna in the don, I suspect the tuna was defrosted and refrozen a couple times before being served to me. To add, the rice was hard, not well done at all. My girlfriend had the sockeye advocado roll, which was decent if we were to be fair so not everything was awful. But seriously though, of all the sushi places I’ve eaten at in the past couple of months, I would rank this place near the bottom(if not the bottom, when we don’t count the all you can eat places). Maybe we caught them on a bad day(Sunday lunch), so my review was for our one experience there.

Small Japanese run sushi spot that is better quality than other places on Robson! Prices are reasonable and sashimi is very fresh. Focus here is on quality, the Japanese owner is he only one preparing the sushi and there is one server, so be aware it can be a little slow if it gets busy but the quality is worth waiting a little bit longer. They offer brown rice sushi at 50c extra.

Fast service and great food. I ordered Alaska Roll($ 5.50) and Atlantic Salmon Sashimi($ 7.50) and the food was so delicious. I wish the portion was bit bigger for what I paid. I should’ve got a sushi combo, but it’s alright. Will return.

I had the BBQ rib teriyaki(actually, Galbi beef), my wife her usual negitori and salmon rolls. We had no complaints; restaurant was clean, service was polite, food was fresh and delicious.

Tiny place. Zero charm. Feels tired. Friendly and speedy service. Everything was fresh and well prepared. The tuna tataki was a definite standout. The only dish that was disappointing was the gyoza. I could get better ones frozen in a bag at a supermarket.

Giant, seriously giant, chirashi bowl with at least 20 pieces of toro, teka, sake with a couple of egg ones for dessert. The spicy sauce was delicious. They also gave me complimentary tea and miso soup. Fast service and only $ 14. Highly recommended.

Sapporo Sushi is my new favorite sushi spot in the West End. Having tried most of the other sushi restaurants in the area, I can say for sure that this place takes the cake. I’ve been here many times and the food is always consistent and the service is always great. It can take a bit longer than normal to get your food, but it’s because they’re actually putting the time in to make it properly. The ingredients are always fresh, the rolls are meticulously prepared and presented, and the flavors are great — your rolls won’t come smothered in too much sauce and mayo like those other sushi joints. Check it out!

Good sushi, good prices. And what I think was the owner served us. We came in right at 11 am, and I was given complimentary Miso and tea. Its small, but very clean and friendly. I felt like the food was made with love. I would eat here again. :)

Lovely spot for lunch or dinner. Our sushi rolls were delicious and the miso soup perfect on a chilly autumn day. Quaint and modern atmosphere with friendly staff. Highly recommended.

I came here after drinks on a Friday. Needed some food! Ordered a spicy tuna roll and a kimchi udon. Simple enough? I’ve been here once before for takeout and they took a bit of time even to prepare that. They seem to only still employ one sushi chef and the waitress. I saw the same two people this time so I knew I might be waiting which is fine since I really always want to support local restos and sushi joints. They both came at appropriate times. The spicy tuna was nothing to rave about other than it wasn’t mashed up tuna but real chunks(aside I don’t know why spicy versions in bc are usually mashed instead of whole with sauce as in Ontario) The kimchi udon was nicely presented and the broth was savoury but not bland. Maybe a bit pricy in comparisons to the meat option udons however. I’ll definitely come back and try a wider menu with others. If I could it will be a 3.5 star for now. Above average but definitely not a must come nor something you would mention to a friend randomly. Good local joint and a quality alternative to Momo which is also fantastic, but more typical in its offerings(geared towards the combo and takeout crowd)

I’m rating Sapporo Sushi a generous 4 stars because there are many pros about this place. 1) It’s Japanese run. 2) Sushi is authentic style, holds together well and not overly seasoned or sauced. 3) Prices are reasonable. However, having witnessed many sushi places come and go around here, I’m crossing my fingers for Sapporo Sushi because its menu is seriously mediocre. You’ll find the same Dynamite Roll and California Combo in every other sushi joint. And they were playing boy band pop music which really doesn’t do it for me. In my opinion, there are only three ways to stand out in this brutally stiff competition. a) Go value-for-money and out-price the others. b) Go authentic, super fresh and ocean-wise. c) Putting something unique from Sapporo on the menu. That’s my take, and there’s only one way to find out if you agree!

We were feening sushi and went to sushi mart but for some reason it was closed, so we stumbled into Sapporo. We walked in and there was no one in site! Literally no one! The server and sushi chef must have been in the back but we rustled enough noise for them to notice us. I was a bit weary of the place because one I couldn’t find it on Unilocal and two, wasnt sure about the freshness! To my great surprise, dinner turned out to be fabalicious! We ordered the following : Kobcha croquette — 4⁄5 Agedashi tofu(spicy) — 5⁄5 Volcano roll — 3⁄5 Gomae — 3.5÷5 Negi toro roll — 5⁄5 Mango roll — 5⁄5 Spicy sockeye salmon roll — 3.5÷5 I would come here again!
