Great weekend brunch place. Great servers. My only complaint is that one Sunday I ordered a Cesear, which is usual great here, and they used tomato juice instead of Clamato. That was gross. I dunno what happened there.

This place is an awesome unpretentious bar in kits. It’s a bit hidden off the main drag of Yew St, north of 4th Ave about 3 blocks. It’s great for meeting up with friends and watching sports. It’s also a spot that has a good mix of demographics, this helps contribute to the overall character of the place. In the summer the patio is a perfect place to relax and unwind after a long day at the beach. The food is good quality pub food. Good sized portions with a variety of pub eats(they even cater to the vegetarians, but who doesn’t these days). When you need a break from the overcrowded bars on Yew it’s a good place to stop.

I’ve come here numerous times since. Every time the food is great quality, the service is very warm, and I simply feel at home. For a bar this place is my go-to whether it be for brunch, lunch, dinner, or drinks! Worth checking out for sure.

My girl friend and I go there every Sunday for breakfast. The better breakfast before 11 am is the best deal in town. Eggs are excellent and the ham is proper ham cut from a side, not shaved ham from a deli that many places serve. I highly recommend this place.

I’ve discovered two things that makes this place special. Tater tots on the menu and craft beer on a Monday night for $ 5. And the selection is great. It also has a nice quiet patio in an otherwise busy area. An unpretentious place if you’re looking for something casual in the area. Now if I could just get that Don Henley song out of my head…

So the beer here is awesome. Great selection and well priced. Keep your eye on the special — they are constantly updating. They also play the games with volume, so it’s great to be able to watch! Food — not worth the price! We ordered 1 lb of wings and got EIGHT chicken wings. For $ 12. Haha. So unless you don’t like eating, don’t do it! !

Solid 3.5 stars, it’s been awhile since I drank/eaten here but dropped in a few days to check out, it’s a lot nicer than it used to be. More modern, a kitsy-bar, and the most price reasonable compared to Local and Nook down the street lol. It’s decent-sized, and enough TV’s to enjoy a sports game.

Our family’s favorite spot for brunch, with or without kids. Never a wait for a delicious and affordable brunch, with half sizes for smaller appetites. I love the choice of Eggs Benny’s, ‘Sunset Benny’ with tomato & avacado being my fave. The hollandaise sauce is addictive, and their homestyle potatoes are cooked to a perfect golden crisp. Over the many years of coming for brunch, we’ve had several overcooked eggs(even when requesting ‘soft’), but they are always understanding and will remake the poached eggs upon request, in a matter of minutes –even took the $ 13 Benny off our bill, despite making it perfect the 2nd time. Their delicious coffee and multiple tv’s covering the day’s sports, made the short wait for my Benny remake a non-issue. Love their ‘weekend juice’ menu, especially the ‘ManMosa’ ~ champagne, OJ& lager, being the perfect compliment to anyone’s brunch. A neighborhood gem that is predictable and delicious, with something for everyone.

Favourite bar in the area. This is the place to go to kick back. I wouldn’t say it’s a trendy bar or a really lively place but it’s the place I always enjoy myself the most. They have a solid beer menu and extensive whiskey selection. I’ve always enjoyed the food as well. Had breakfast for the first time recently and was really impressed. Simple menu done well. The staff are great they’re chilled and give you the perfect amount of attention. Definitely my fave spot on that strip.

This is my preferred brunch place. Staff and food are always great. I personally always get a Benny. If you haven’t gotten one here and are debating, dive in head first!

Well hey there Sunset grill! Let me start by saying i’m a simple girl. I prefer an unpretentious pub to a fancy shmancy resto or lounge/club. I like th neighborhood feel of this place. Super simple bar. The menu had a decent range of fare and at really reasonable prices. Everyone seemed happy with what they ordered but we kept it simple so can’t really say anything about the entrees. Now what was really impressive to me was their beer and whiskey menu. HAZAAAAAAA!!! A really great mix of local and NWUSA beers on tap — we got the end of the Ninkasi Sleigh’r keg so got some tasters for free — to be followed by the Phillips porter. I had my standby Gypsy tears and there was Driftwood selections and a really great scotch ale i can’t remember the name of. I mean, i could spend an afternoon here EASILY drinking one amazing beer after another. I wasn’t drinking heavily that night but my friends had a few whiskeys which also came from an impressive list. This is a great local sportsbar/pub, decent amount of screens but volume was kept at a good level and when they marquis event wasn’t on, they turned it right down and started playing some 80s tunes. heaven UPDATE: just found out this place is run by brewery creek! no wonder it’s awesome.

Sunset is a good go-to back-up option. It almost reminds me of the«swiss chalet» of bars. It’s not the place that you start a count-down for, but its also not the place they you’re going to leave unsatisfied. The food is alright — the service the night we went(Saturday night after the fireworks on kits beach) was amazing. They truly welcomed everyone that was coming in and they were happy to have them. On what could’ve been one of their«busiest nights» they were still able to happily seat a table of 6. My friends that are sports guru’s mentioned they have a good display of «special event» sport like tennis, etc. Good value for decent food. casual and an easy place that always seems to have room to accommodate at any time.

Ok, I will admit it — when the sun is out, I become a patio whore. I compromise my values, better judgments, and gut feelings for a spot out there on a sunny day. Afterwards, I feel a mixture of pleasure and guilt. This was one of those times. We were enjoying the sun, walking along Kits beach, and needed somewhere to satiate our growing hunger & thirst without sacrificing our enjoyment of this beautiful weather. Most patios were already full, so we stumbled across Sunset Grill, saw a free table for 2 on the patio, and thought, «Why not?» They actually have a decent beer selection, with some seasonal rotating taps as well as other interesting local microbreweries. I ordered the meatloaf with mashed potatoes & gravy, because I thought it would be safe. I was right. There wasn’t anything wrong with it per se — the beans were soggy and the gravy definitely came from a packet, but it was edible. The turkey sandwich, however, was extremely dry. If it wasn’t for the beer, trying to get it down may have been a logistics issue. The service was friendly, though; so, if you’re not picky about food and just want a place to relax with a beer, this could be an option.

I was craving a Caesar really bad and a girlfriend of mine asked me to go for a quick drink at Sunset Grill on the patio. I was game, especially once she said the Sunday special was double Caesars. Firstly I decided to walk and from Ontario Street. Didn’t realize I signed up for a half marathon… what a hike. Half way I had to stop in at shoppers for some bandaids. Word of caution, don’t wear 6 dollar sandles for an hour walk. Of course when I finally got there I ordered a double Caesar right away. Turned out to be the worst Caesar I have ever had. I actually sent it back. This is a rare occurrence for me. It tasted like the juice had gone bad or the vodka had been misplaced with paint thinner. I should have known to not drink it after it was served with pickled asparagus. Eeek. Redemption came once I ordered a beer. I ended up splitting nachos with my friend cause I wasn’t too hungry. The nachos were also just meh! Regular nachos– cheese, jalapenos, olives and tomatoes. I was sad actually, I feel like all nachos require green onions and some form of meat to justify as a proper meal. Kudos to them as they did layer the nachos with cheese rather than just cover the top. The menu itself looked good but I don’t think i’ll be back to try anything else. At least the weather was good and I was in good company.

I was excited to come here but probably won’t be back. It deserves the rating I’m giving it, because the food was quite good, but no better than a couple of my favourite places that have a nicer atmosphere. I don’t drink whiskey but I think I would come here to if I did, their menu was quite large. The waitress was hilarious though, I wanted to add. She had been standing at a table of guys who were both head deep into their phones and not even noticing that she was there, so she interrupted and said«should I just text you guys?». I laughed hard.

*3.5 for drinks and service alone. This girl did not eat* The Sunset recently underwent some serious re-branding. HOORAY! I came here pretty regularly a long time ago and was never really sure what it was trying to pull off. Sports bar? Diner? They had a really weird menu but was always a solid bet if you wanted to watch any sort of sports anything. Well The Sunset of the present is pretty alright. Came in late on a Saturday night for some after movie drinks. Service was AWESOME! Very helpful and friendly. Their drink menu has been revitalized! Wicked local craft beers and a plethora of whiskey/scotch to choose from. They do beer tasters! The scotch comes on a delightful board with water and rocks so you can make your drink just to your liking. They have cask nights! The food menu is pretty sad for me on the vegan front, but I wasn’t eating so I was more than satisfied with my drinks. I am sure they could work something out if asked though. They still have a lot of specials and a boatload of tvs to watch. Oh and we were informed that they don’t play UFC which is a pretty big deal in my book. 15⁄30

Maybe a good place to watch hockey game but not brunch surely. Somebody recommended their smoked salmon eggs benedict so went to try over the weekend with my foodie friend. They use egg poachers so they look extremely fake, and they’re overdone. The white was hard, the yolk was partially cooked. My friend had blueberry pancakes and they came with pre-packaged pancake syrups. Sorry, at Denny’s in the states, you get the same but one third the price. How difficult can it be to stock up and refill maple syrup bottles just to present a better image?

Came Here on Easter Morning after a early volunteer gig. We asked to be seated in front and where given a good table with a view of the street so my friends could watch their bikes which where locked to a parking meter out front. I had a Greek Scramble which I enjoyed. The Coffee was a-ok. Service was Good but not rushed. Friends had Eggs and Pancakes which they seemed to like. The food was tasty and fairly priced. They have full bar and they are happy to serve you drink in the morning. Overall Sunset Grill is good choice for a weekend breakfast.

Oh, how I miss the beach. This was our usual hang out after the weekly Thursday volleyball at Kits. Our game would end at sunset, and fittingly, we would end up at Sunset Grill. They would always reserve tables for us, so that when we got there, we would be seated right away. A cool atmosphere, modern enough to be a restaurant, with screens for watching games, so it also has a pub feel. They have daily drink and food specials, with lots of selections of beers on tap. Food is surpisingly good, and a pretty comprehensive menu. Lots of different twists on burgers, I once had a Mediterranean burger with feta, a chicken burger, and a salmon burger. Try their Bubba burger-which is double meat, double everything! Very satisfying indeed.(I can never finish it though.) They’re all suprisingly good, even better than some chain scale restaurants. Wings are good here, just the perfect crispness with the right amount of honey garlic. Other recommendations include the nachos, and you have to try their salads! Chef salad is loaded with toppings! Service is always excellent. A great place to wind down after an intense game of beach volleyball, and to catch up on some good conversation with friends.
