One of the better new sushi spots in west end. Its got great quality so far and i’ve been here three times already. The service is good as well.

We’ve been to the east Vancouver location several times and have been very happy with it, but the West end location was disappointing. The rolls were a lot smaller and the quality was not the best. We ordered a chicken teriyaki roll and and the chicken tasted old and had a weird odor. The specialty rolls which we’ve usually been impressed were small and overloading with toppings and sauces. There are tons of similar sushi places aroudn this neighborhood with similar offerings and better quality. Your money is better spent else where.

I really like this sushi place. Their original location is near Renfrew and it did really well as it was always busy. I really like their awesome roll with generous amount of deep fried yam piles(I mean really piles of deep fried shredded yam!). I usually also get soft shell crab roll. Service is limited with usually one server but she is very friendly and frequently checks in. I have been more than satisfied here with food every time I came here and hope more people would check out this place!

I ordered the Awesome roll and toro nigiri. The awesome roll is not awesome but it’s good, especially for $ 7.95, it’s sort of what I expected. The yam fries topping is a nice addition. They used imitation crab meat for the rolls so the roll itself is nothing special. The toro nigiri is disappointing. It’s almost frozen, very cold and doesn’t have that melt-in-your-mouth taste of toro I love so much. Overall, it’s an OK experience. If there is a half-rating, I would give it 2.5 but the wait-staff is very attentive and polite to our group so I’m rounding up this restaurant to 3.

Im a regular here but their service is really slow. Lots of take out orders and they prioritize those first before serving us! Portions are also smaller compared to my first experience at Sushiholic. I frequent this place a lot coz they are closer to my place and less crowded than the other location. However, I think the service and food are still so much better there. Well, the grass is always greener on the other side, right?

I was thinking another mediocre sushi joint when I stepped into this place but was pleasantly surprised when I arrived here after a long tennis game and hungry as a beast. The décor is rather minimalistic but much better than your average sushi joint. They had a sakura tree with LED lights that was refreshing. I tried the deep fried squid as an appetizer which was amazing, the sauce and the consistency were really good. The Dragon roll and Mango Ebi roll were both delicious and all the ingredients were fresh and presentation of the Dragon roll was specially great. Needless to say I have found a great sushi joint on Denman that I’ll be frequenting in the summer time!

My first day here I went to Sushiholic with a friend for supper. The interior décor is intimate and cozy. We sat at a table in the other room and the friendly waitress was prompt and gracious. I really enjoyed the food. The awesome roll is rather delicious and their chop scallop rolls were good. The tempura is plentiful and tasty. Well worth the stop. I really don’t have anything negative to say about this place.

Server was very nice, food was prompt at half capacity. Sushi was good, unfortunately I cannot give it a better rating because the portions were tiny and prices were on the higher side. In such a competitive market this was a massive let down for us. We really wanted to like this place but I’m not exaggerating when I say they were the smallest rolls I’ve ever had.

Lame lame lame!!! Another Korean owned Japanese cuisine restaurant. If you want quantity with an average price then go here.

We ordered pretty much only the special maki rolls, and they are honest-to-god«wow» looking. This is a great place(IF you order their specials) to go for fun-looking food. The Fire Dragon Roll is definitely worth a look. If you are a sushi snob analyzing flavour, then they will likely rank under Yaletown places like Honjin Sushi and Bistro Sakana, especially as some of Sushiholic’s special rolls use enough chili sauce for pretty presentation but which also drowns out a lot of other flavour. Still, as far as sushi goes, you won’t have to use wasabi or soy, which makes them a step up from all sorts of little sushi-takeout-factories. TIP: There’s a huge gob of wasabi and ginger on each sushi platter. Tell your server to NOT put any on each platter, and instead bring your table a small quantity on the side in a separate dish. This will save a LOT of wasted ginger and wasabi. Volcano Roll looks pricey but you do get some spicy tuna sashimi underneath the«volcano». Sadly, it is swimming in chili sauce so you can’t taste it anyway. Tempura Ice Cream was a total waste of time. Chewy shell almost a centimeter thick — where’s my deep fried goodness? Free tea diligently topped up, and prompt bussing — often understated traits in an establishment but you sure notice it when it’s lacking.

The name is on point. We go here every chance we get! The sushi is delicious and well made. You can tell they take great pride in what they serve. We’ve had wonderful service every visit and great prices make it an easy choice.

Never disappoints. Just wish they deliver like Denman or Downtown Sushi, or that could be a bad thing lol

I came here with a friend because I’ve heard many good things about this reataurant. This place is however more expensive than other typical sushi restaurants I’ve been too. I got the deep fried California roll and it wasn’t as good as i expected. It was kind of doughy and it was quite dry. When i order this from other restaurants theres always spicy mayo on it. My friend got the awesome roll and it was pretty awesome i would say. It had very thinly cut yam fries ontop. I think it also had spicy mayo on it. If you ever go there, i would recommend the awesome roll.

Good stuff Absolutely not a sushi connoisseur that being said service was attentive, everything was super fresh and presented well, didn’t love everything we got, some kinda strange combinations, but again I eat the stuff rarely so I guess you would learn your favourites. Thumbs up!

I’ll give the food an ‘It’s okay/Yummy’ Rating. What really gets my vote is that one of the waitresses personally delivered our order to my workplace(yet another understaffed place on Denman), because we were too busy to pick it up. Man, did we need that sushi that afternoon. Anyways, Overall, I always enjoy the food I get from here. Maybe if they created more combos of certain types of sushi, the rating would go up.

Not as good as the original location. Food was pretty bad actually. Sloppy rolls and horrible beef yakisoba, I would recommend finding another sushi place to eat. HOWEVER, the service was pleasant.

I heard about this store open recently, in downtown, so I came one evening to check this out. Well, I had mixed feelings on this store. Service was not that great, as there was only one girl serving 6 tables at that time. That was a prime time, Friday evening, and only one person dealing with all orders, and servicing for all the tables, that was certainly under staffed. We made an order finally, and we were excited to see the food. We ordered awesome roll, chicken karaage and sushi combo. After 20 minutes wait time, the food was served one dish at a time. The sushi combo was alright, California roll, prawn sushi, tuna sushi,…etc. The taste was good, but the portion was small, approx. half sized of what normally seen in the other places. Then, the chicken karaage came, there were seven on the dish. They were not bad, but they were not traditional deep fried chicken. From what I saw, they were BBQ on the grill. Evidence of this was there was a hole in the middle of the chicken wing. It seemed like a fork or a pin holding it on the grill fire. The taste was sweet as well, which was not traditional savory taste. Probably the waitress brought me a wrong dish ? Then, the awesome roll came, and it was alright. Fried yam was the interesting part of this dish, makes the sushi look so «alive» ! Now, here is the part that needs some work for the staff… When I asked the waitress to bring me more wasabi, she pointed her finger to the tiny little wasabi at the end of the plate, and said«there is the wasabi!» Yes, I saw it and that was why I asked for more! I explained to her that I needed more for the dish. That the roll was about half a feet long, but it was served with a dime sized wasabi ! She finally got the idea, and came back with some more on the dish. The store is fairly new, and probably need some work on the staffing. There is still more work to be done!

Yet another Korean-owned sushi restaurant in the West End! I had high hopes for this one, because I quite enjoyed Ringo — that used to occupy this lot. I noted the large poster in their window recommending the«Awesome Roll». Sold. We walked in and was surprised to find that it was quite empty for dinner time. There were only two other tables. They do not serve the traditional«box» meals. There are sushi combos, entrees(meat/vege and rice), special rolls, appetizers, and some of the other usual suspects on such menus. We decided to order two special rolls just to see what they looked like before we ordered any more. The waitress became a little pushy and insisted that we ordered an appetizer. Her excuse? That the«Awesome Roll» takes a long time to make because it has to be baked. Her words, not mine. She stood there, forcing us to browse the menu for an appetizer. The $ 11 Spicy Sashimi was way too small for us to share — she admitted that it was only a hand-full. So, we ordered a Prawn Tempura. She brought a bowl of complimentary«House Salad», which was a nice gesture. The Prawn Tempura came, and I couldn’t believe my eyes. They were quite, quite small prawns for Prawn Tempura. Next, the special rolls arrived. The«Awesome Roll» was, unfortunately, not that awesome. It wasn’t bad! But, it wasn’t awesome either. Everything lacked something. It’s really too bad, for I want so much to be a fan of any business that occupies this lot.

Simply excellent! The food is beautifully well done and delicious! Also the staff is really friendly. And don’t forget the(free) salad, really fresh. The place is simple but the food is gorgeous.
