Fresh and tasty, but so expensive for what it is. They put WAY too much dressing on their salads, even if you ask for light dressing, so I just opt for no dressing at all. The online ordering system is AWESOME though, and the convenience of that plus the location keeps me coming back. I also like that they hand out bags of Old Dutch chips with their sandwiches. Whoo nostalgia!

They’ve got a ton of(high-quality) mix-ins/options for salads. I’ve been to a few other places like this in Vancouver, and so far Tossed has been the best(there is one place Downtown East of Georgia that looks promising but I have yet to try). They’ve got a decent loyalty programme(every 9th or 10th salad is free with the completed card) except I usually forget to bring the card with me. My favourite here is the Southwest Salad(which is usually my favourite anywhere). The dressing for this one is especially good. My colleague introduced me to the half-and-half option: get half-sized soup and a half-sized panini or salad. It was a nice way to add a bit of variety. I’ve found ordering ahead(online) to be a good option: you get 10% off and it’s usually ready when you arrive(and you get to skip the line – just go round to the register). Admittedly this place is a bit pricier than the others in the area(~10 $ for a salad), but the quality is significantly higher. If you’ve been to New York or DC, this place is pretty much a carbon-copy of Chop’t(chop’t is less expensive tho).

As per Lauren F.‘s review, in my 2 times going to Tossed they’ve missed/forgotten something in my order(that I placed online). First, I like the online ordering system — no problems there. Second, choices are great — lots of great choices. Third, a little pricey but their pre-mixed salads are no more expensive than other places salads of lesser quality. So my issue with them(and I hope they check these reviews!) first order I made online I requested the dressing be on the side. They forgot the dressing entirely. I walk to pick up my lunch & walk back to my office so I really didn’t think I had to stop, in-store, and double-check my order. Well now I think I should because my second order(todays, that I also made online), was for one of their premade salads and they forgot the avocado which is actually a part of the salad. Frustrating because I love avocado. I also requested light-dressing — now, if they think the amount they put on the salad as being light, I’d really hate to see what they consider«normal» — is the salad swimming? Anyhoo, I think I’ll go back but will definitely double-check my order while still in the store. I hate getting back to work to find out something’s been missed … grrrr. Overall, tastes good :)

If you want a fresh salad, or a tasty sandwich or even a great crêpe, Tossed is a good place to go for lunch. It is a bit pricey, but the portions are pretty big, and the salads are always fresh. Well located, close to the Art Gallery and the Business District. The seating is pretty good for a salad place. And the service is fast and clean.

As others have said, I was not in love with Tossed at first bite. The reviews on here scared me a bit, but my trigger happy groupon finger had already purchased a voucher for lunch so off I went… I think in this case, it helped me to have lowered expectations as I wasn’t all that surprised when my food only gave me the«meh» feeling — even though the restaurant had a five star buzz and line up. First displeasing thing with this lunch: the system that they had for tracking groupons. The cashier had a binder the size of the new testament filled with pages and pages of printed off names, emails and telephone numbers for the people that purchased the lunch deal… Not only did it take her quite some time to locate my coupon, I wasn’t so fond of having some of my personal info sitting in a binder on the counter of a(surprisingly) busy spot. Her uninviting scowl when I presented my coupon was really disheartening. Minus one star. I ordered the roast beef panini on white, with easy oinion and shuffled down the production line set up to another cashier who was packing/calling out orders for pick up. She was working slow AND was behind from the mountain of orders piling up. This set up was poorly thought out, since the bottle neck of people waiting to pick up their orders really creates a mess for the cashier at the«Order here» counter. I also was not impressed when people 4 or 5 behind me in the line were receiving far larger orders than me and leaving before my dreadfully simple panini was up. Also, would it kill someone to smile? I am beginning to think business owners dislike the groupon holders and if that IS the case, why do them?! Minus one star. When my food was finally ready, I decided to just park it at a high top in the restaurant and mow down before heading back to the office. Low and behold, I open my over-wrapped sandwich and as luck would have it: stale brown bread and what appeared to be extra onions… I grimaced but got over the bread, and woefully scraped some of the onions off(thus taking ¾ths of the swiss with them as well) as I had decided against trying to fight through the crowd to get my order corrected or else I’d never make it back to work. The food was severely under-whelming and as I mentioned the bread was stale. The roast beef was similar to something you’d get at a cheap supermarket deli or out of a package. Thin, bland and totally flavorless. Minus another star. On the other side of the coin, lots of my co-workers say that the salads here at phenomenal. I am somewhat put off by this experience, so it might take me a little while to warm up to Tossed again.

I don’t love it but I don’t hate it. I’ve been to Tossed a couple times and ordered the Southwest Blackened Chicken Salad every time. It’s ridiculously delicious but at $ 11 with tax, it’s not something I get very often. The service, however, leaves a pretty sour taste in my mouth. It’s impossible to get any of the employees to crack a smile and I feel like they move customers through like we’re on conveyor belts.

I purchased a few online coupons for this place prior to going to the establishment, as the profile attached to the deal made it seem like a really wholesome/healthy place. Headed down there over the holidays, and boy was I glad I did not pay full price for this foolish stuff. The soup was from a can or powder, the smoothies are those milk carton ones that you add water to, the chicken was a processed chicken patty, and the dressing was too sweet and too thick. And what’s with the bag of Old Dutch chips with every purchase? It kind of reminded me of a sports day meal from the 80’s, real bush league overall. It is just Subway, with nicer ambience and higher prices. Severely disappointed and will not go back once my coupons are used up.

«vegetarian salad»?? ugh. right off the bat we are not starting well. why oh why do we have to add some much dairy and meat to salads to make them palatable? out of 11 menu salads, only 3 did not include some kind of meat/cheese. and the price point did not vary much. annoying. although there is the option to «create your own» i chose a menu salad because when i’m hungry i cannot look at a long list of options to concoct my own creation. i’m a simple girl, easily confused. and lately, i’m kinda over places that have too many choices. just give me a salad!!! girl be TIRED. the«vegetarian salad» was unexciting at best but at least pretty fresh. paid the way over priced fee of $ 9 and opted for the dijon vinaigrette as i abhor«fat free» anything. uh, but the vinaigrette was thick and i had to fork it onto my salad as it wasn’t remotely mixable. *Vent incoming* i take great issue with this. for reasons pointed out by the epicurious website dictionary. vinaigrette [vihn-uh-GREHT] -(totally fun to enunciate but beware of doing so in public for fear of people thinking you have a very poor grasp of a British/German accent — GREHT!!!) «vinaigrette is a basic oil-and-vinegar combination(…) In its simplest form, vinaigrette consists of oil, vinegar(usually 3 parts oil to 1 part vinegar), salt and pepper.» Which means it should be LIQUID and pour-able NOT totally emulsified into what is basically a dipping sauce. My annoyance level with the price and«vinaigrette» makes me want to give Tossed a measly 2 stars, but it was a large salad, and healthy and fresh. So 3 it is.

The main offering of Tossed is a design your own salad or crêpe wrap. First you choose your lettuce, then«toss in» additional veggies, fruit or «crunch». Then you can add in protein, cheese and«gourmet items» for an extra fee. And dress your meal up with salad dressings and vinigrettes. This is what my crêpe wrap consisted of — I was going for a balance between sweet and savoury, with lots of fresh crunchy vegetables: –Baby field greens and romaine hearts(you can combine as many types of lettuce as you want at no additional charge) –Roasted onions, cucumbers, apples and wonton crisps –Smoked turkey, blue cheese(went well with the apple) and sun-dried tomatoes(not recommended — too chewy and had to pick out the rind) –Fat free honey dijon(best dressing ever for honey mustard lovers) A healthy Quick Service Restaurant in the heart of downtown — great lunch spot but can get a bit pricy if you add a lot of ingredients to your salad or wrap.

yuck. i’ve only had the breakfast here, but it sucks. i was lured by the price(3.95 for a breakfast bowl and coffee) but both my breakfast and my coffee were absolutely terrible. the coffee tasted like it had been sitting in the carafe since 6am, it was weak, acidic, and generally tasting of 1985. the breakfast bowl was a bit better, but it was basically a giant bowl of scrambled eggs with too much salt. there is nothing special happening here, just morning regrets of a breakfast that will linger in my stomach and make me grumpy all day. avoid.(at least for breakfast, lunch may be fine…)

Not feeling like another food court lunch, my friend and I decided to walk around until something caught our eye. We stumbled upon Tossed. It’s located across the street from the Vancouver Art Gallery and must have opened recently. We decided to check it out and I am so glad we did! At first glance, the prices looked a little higher than I’d like to pay. I was feeling the pinch of the economy, but whatever. I’m here, place looks clean and staff was friendly. I ordered the turkey and bacon wrap which came with a bag of chips and added the mushroom bisque for the combo. All the ingredients in the turkey and bacon wrap was fresh and drizzled with just the right amount of dressing. The only thing that would take this wrap over the top is if it were grilled. The mushroom bisque was smokey, hearty and warmed my soul. At the time, I wished I had gotten a large soup, but thankfully I didn’t since I couldn’t finish my food. Lunch ended up being $ 13 well spent and I had a snack for later too!
