I ordered an eggs benny, the issue was the eggs were fully poached making it taste like rubber. But the main reason for the low rating would be the service and the mandatory gratuity, the waiter did not show us the bill or inform us. It wasn’t until I was entering the tip percentage did I notice the bill.

This place was PHENOMENAL. The wait was a little long but we were offered coffee while we waited. The service was so friendly. We went over to Windsor from Detroit just for brunch and this place made it all worth it. The service was awesome. They were so friendly and made my fiancé feel so welcome not just in the restaurant but as a visitor to Canada.

Good breakfast/brunch spot. Small place with good service and good food. The eggs were poached perfectly. I got the eggs Benny and was pleased. Cooking wise, I’d say to use more salt on the eggs. The salad had barely any dressing, and slightly more fruit would be appreciated. One small piece of pineapple for $ 12? Service wasn’t anything special but he did a good job. I like the design of the inside, maybe a little overdone. My only complaint is the pricing. A bit high for Windsor. Almost $ 40 for 2. If they lower the price a little bit, they’d fill their other tables. I’d go back, and they’re opening a new place a couple doors down. Looking forward to trying it.

The best breakfast in Windsor — no question. Great owners and staff; excellent service. Fresh and skillfully made food, pretty good beer and wine selection for a bistro/café type of restaurant. Menu is innovative. My food experiences there are limited to the breakfast menu. Favourites are the eggs Benedict(easily the best in the area — eggs always poached perfectly), the croque monsieur is excellent, which is essentially a ham and swiss sandwich made with thick moist French toast(get a side of syrup to go with it). French toast well done as well. All breakfasts are served with greens and potatoes. Quality coffee. Like the atmosphere too.

Super cute interior located in a quasi-pedestrian alley. The eggs benny was good, nothing special. I recommend a trip to the vinyl store nearby after your brunch.

This place is a(somewhat) hidden treasure across the river. A friend and I went here for brunch(of course) and baby, it was fan-*******tastic. There was about a half hour wait, but that is to be expected on a Sunday. Once seated, we ordered our food and drinks. Food came out quickly and it was really good. I got the squirrel cage breakfast and my friend got the eggs benny. Super fresh, great tasting… really, just perfect. Our server was super cool; loved him. The interior space is really nicely designed; a waiting area downstairs and eating /bar area upstairs. The highest compliment I can give this place is, you could pick it up and drop it in Ferndale and it wouldn’t be out of place at all.

We went for brunch with a larger than average group and waited for about 15 minutes to get a table. The server was awesome an the food was great. We enjoyed our mimosas and will definitely be going back when in town!

Pretty good brunch. Super cute interior. Nice service– people who work here are very kind. The Eggs Benedicts are really good, so I recommend that. The pancakes are alright. Not the best, not the worst. Would definitely come back.

They’re awesome. I drive all the way downtown just to go here. Great atmosphere. Fantastic hollandaise sauce.

Run by the loveliest people ever and located on downtown Windsor’s only street that can claim to be charming, this is my go to for lunch when I’m working in the core. They know how to deliver a fabulous and fresh panini, coffee is stellar and the carrot cake is the best in the city!

The Squirrel Cage is a brunch restaurant located on an alley(Maiden Lane) in Downtown Windsor. Closest intersection is Wyandotte and Ouellette. The place is rather small as half of it is mainly lounge and waiting area. We went on a Saturday morning, but there wasn’t a lineup, just a filled dining room. I, as well as many of my colleagues, had the Cage Breakfast, which consists of everything you could need for breakfast including choice of meat, 2 eggs, home potatoes, toast, and salad. The peameal bacon was my choice and it was pretty good. The rest of everything was solid, with the salad and fruit a nice touch for such a heavy breakfast. My buddy got the breakfast sandwich and it was pretty much a compilation of everything on my plate sandwiched between toast. The Croque Monsieur looked fantastic too and they serve up $ 5 mimosas for the hungover folks. If you’re looking for a good brunch place in downtown, I believe you might be limited? Should definitely give Squirrel Cage a shot. They serve up some very good breakfast and they have a nice patio out front and an even nicer place inside.

Girlfriends brunch time. The Eggs Bennie that I had was awesome. The hollandaise sauce was smooth and creamy, with a bit of sweet and sour which tasted great. The eggs and peameal bacons were cooked perfect too. One thing was that the room was kinda smoky. It would be perfect if there was a ventilation equipment installed. Overall it was a great place to eat.

What a Fab spot! Came in for their Sunday Brunch and literally ate every piece of my French Toast Pancakes! The French toast comes with a blueberry marmalade on top, side of whip cream and a small side of fruit to perfects the plate. The mimosas are also amazing and for $ 5 you can’t say no to a second one to top off your brunch factor. The waiter was great as well! Definitely worth crossing over to check this spot out. I am from Miami and was in Detroit for business and I am always looking for cool spots to dine.

I had deconstructed(by choice) Egg Benedict with house potatoes, mixed greens and some fruit. It was absolutely delicious. I also had a mimosa that definitely had fresh orange juice. Our service was excellent and the portions were good. It was a perfect casual brunch with cute pillows on a bench as one side of the table. If I ever find myself in windsor I’ll be back. FYI — it was a little bit pricey. But worth it.

Best eggs Benedict I’ve had in the city. I actually had the eggs Charlotte which has salmon instead of bacon. The sauce was fantastic and the eggs were cooked to perfection(which oddly seems to be a problem at other restaurants). Sat outside and loved the city vibe but still sheltered at the same time. My Caesar could have been a little more interesting(drink not salad). My meal would have been perfect if they had upped the ante on the drink mixing. But all in all I will definitely be back!

If you’d like to drive to downtown Windsor, pay for parking on Ouellette, walk in the cold, and then not eat breakfast, then this is the place for you. My husband and I were visiting from out of town and planned to have breakfast with family after researching highly rated restaurants in the area. We were very disappointed upon arriving and finding unprofessional looking signage(see photo gallery) indicating closure due to drunkenness. I do understand that it was St. Patrick’s Day the night before but if you are going to own a business you should at least be professional and announce the closure on your Facebook page. While the pictures and reviews looked appetizing, unfortunately we will never know.

This is a must try. Freshness and service clearly matter to these guys. They do panini and house made soups through the week and an awesome weekend brunch. The eggs Charlotte(being eggs Benedict with smoked salmon in place of ham) is possibly the richest breakfast food I can cognify, and definitely deserves your attention. All of this taken together makes this a strong pillar of the Windsor food scene.

I had never been to Canada before so I just wanted to hit up Windsor to say I went. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the service and the food. To start, the ambience was really nice and modern — the bathroom was really nice too! Lol. I got the squirrel cage breakfast which was eggs greens bacons and home fries and my boyfriend got the eggs Benny. Both were super good, and my bf also enjoyed the $ 5 mimosas. Overall I would say choose this place over anything! Really good food, atmosphere, and service
