We walked from the hotel zone 2 different evenings to this wonderful small family restaurant, and the 30 minute walk was worth it. Their food is fresh and the meals seasoned wonderfully. Say hello to Sergio and enjoy his warm hospitality.

I love this place! During my trip, I’ve come every morning for breakfast. The chilaquiles are amazing! My wife loves the arrachera tacos, and the daiquiris are pretty damn good. The price isn’t too bad, compared to similar spots in other Mexico vacation locations, they are pricey, compared to other places locally in the cancun hotel zone, they’re cheap. Enjoy!

Tacun is in Cancun’s hotel zone, where most hotels offer all-inclusive food. Because the hotels are $$$, it makes sense that you’d want to get your moneys worth and eat most meals at the hotel. But, you should leave at least once and come to Tacun. You won’t regret it. This was the most authentic and delicious food that I ate in Mexico all week. We only came in once because of the afore mentioned scenario, but I could have eaten here every day. The vibe is island casual and fun. It’s a cute little straw hut with brightly colored flags and décor everywhere. The waitstaff is super hospitable and welcoming, and our server Augie was absolutely hilarious. Every meal starts out with a complimentary platter of chips and salsa. The plate has three different varieties of salsa(one mild, one smoky, one spicy!) and taco fixings like chopped onion, cilantro and lime. We also ordered guac and refried beans to start out with. The guac was smooth and creamy, and was the perfect way to start off our meal. We were starving and the tacos took a while to come out, so luckily we were able satisfy our hunger with the chips, salsa, guac and beans! Although the tacos took a while they were absolutely worth it. The pork was juicy and tender and was coated in a sauce that wasn’t too spicy but had a great kick. The addition of cilantro and chopped onions added the perfect flavor and crunch. The fish taco had an enormous piece of fresh fried fish, and was topped with lettuce, tomatoes, avocado and a creamy mayo sauce. Although the pork was pretty on par with tacos that I’ve had at my fave spots at home. the fish was unlike anything I’ve ever tried. It was just so fresh. You can’t find fish like that in Jersey, thats for sure. Mix in a few cool coronas and modelos to wash everything down with and you’ve got yourself the perfect meal. Luckily we ate here at the end of our trip, because if we had found this at the beginning I could have seen us not eating at the resort again. Make Tacun a must on your next trip to Cancun.

A simple little place with outdoor dining. right next to the strip. The food was excellent and the price was right on! It came recommended to us by an employee at the Westin. Watch out for the salsas… all offered with the chips had a kick and a half!

This is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant in the hotel zone. I ate here 3 times ordered different things and between my wife and never had a bad meal. Great prices as well. The nachos are loaded and are great! Best chips and guacamole I’ve ever had. Augustin gave excellent service. Some of the other staff were not great but I’ve noticed sometimes the food service staff in Mexico can be iffy. The place is tiny so not a lot of seating but they play football or other sports and will give you the wifi password!

Okay, one waiter here was extremely rude. First when we came here and asked if credit card were accepted he told us yes. Then we get the bill he said no, so he was a liar. Although the food was great, the experience was extremely bad here.

excellent little restaurant within the hotel zone that won’t break the bank. we were especially glad they were open christmas day as well as not all places were open, or open yet when we were searching for lunch. cochinita tacos were to die for and i devoured my order of 3 within minutes. also had a couple of their fish tacos and those were pretty legit as well. my wife ordered their enchiladas and they must’ve been good as i’ve never seen her finish an entire order before. service was nice and friendly, drinks came out quick so we were very pleased.

Fuck this place. It’s literally a tourist trap. Our food was supposed to come out to 160 pesos for 2 orders of tacos and a bottle of water but they tried to charge us 200 pesos! Then on top of that, the current exchange rate is 17 pesos for 1 usd but THEIR exchange rate is 14 pesos for 1 usd. When I did the calculations, it’s only supposed to be $ 11.50MAX but they tried charging us $ 12.50! Like what? I wasn’t going to agree to that so I have them $ 12 and left. Tbh the tacos were pretty decent considering we’ve only been eating the food at beach palace, but this place is such a scam for tourists or non-locals. If you go, beware and check your bill.

Tacun is an anomaly in the resort town of Cancun — not at all in a bad way. During my week long visit(with my Mexican in-laws) this is where we spent the most time. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, we were here for all aspects of the day. Tacun is probably the most down-to-earth, non-pretentious, yet good tasting place you will be able to find in the Hotel Zone. The salsa is good, the margaritas are great, the food is… good. Decent tacos, decent breakfast, good coffee. Drive here(there’s parking), walk here, take the bus here — whatever. When your hotel’s concierge tells you there’s nothing too go eat besides the hotel’s restaurant, give this place a shot. Bring pesos.

Plastic tablecloths and friendly, attentive service await you at this little sidewalk restaurant facing the main drag in Cancun. Many of the previous reviews and pictures show the complimentary salsa and nacho plate, and I want to echo their sentiments — great start to the meal! We tackled a basket of chips while enjoying 2 Cadillac margaritas. For our mains we got the shrimp skewers and al pastor tacos, with the added twists of making the shrimp garlic, and requesting some grilled pineapple for the tacos. The tacos were pretty average, and a bit salty, so I ordered a refill on my margarita. N’s shrimp skewers, however, were excellent, as the garlic was spread to the fresh veggies, too. It came with rice and beans, which were both good with some of the chips and salsa. Overall, it cost MXN$ 750 with the tip, and we were happy with the meal. 4 stars is a slight stretch, but we’d go back for those garlic shrimp. It was a nice easy meal, and exactly what we were expecting.

This eatery is located across the Flamingo mall. This eatery is small located within a hotel parking lot, but don’t let a small stand doubt itself to you. You will notice this place by their sign outside near the edge of the street reading«Tacun» on an A-frame. Additionally, you’ll see a tent set up in the parking lot connected to a building which is their kitchen area. Tables and chairs with table cloths are also outside. Upon arriving, a waiter greeted with a welcome and smile and asked we have a seat. The waiter took the time to explain the menu to us, the type of foods the eatery constructs and brought out some chips and salsa platter which included three different salsas. The waiter did a great job in taking the time of explaining the types of salsas within the platter so there were no surprises. The platter also included cilantro, onion and limes. The platter looked appealing due to its professional presentation, the plate itself used and the fresh tasting product. I eat salsa regularly as a Hispanic male and Californian, but boy – the salsa was hot. The salsa made me sweat. Any salsa in my opinion that makes me sweat though – has done its duty. The salsas were a guacamole/green salsa which was mild, hot green salsa and a red pepper grilled salsa. If you want real tasting salsa with your food – come here. One order was a de pastor burrito which was cut in halves includes rice, beans, cheese and sour cream inside the burrito. Along with pieces of cut avocado slices and lettuce on the sides. The de pastor meat was tender and the tortilla was tasty too. The meat was even hot as i took my first bite so you know it was freshly made. Another order placed was a green sauce enchilada with chicken inside, lettuce and Mexican white cheese. The enchilada was tender with seasoned chicken. Both entrees were well presented. For those two entrees and two beverages, the total was $ 28 dollars. This is about average in pricing to American dollars. Entrees are as low as $ 7 in American dollar or possibly lower. They even create Pina coladas or margaritas for you, if desired. In the end, I walked away with a great experience, full and enjoyed the ambiance of the place. The customer service was excellent, prices were fair and the salsa and chips were also tasty. I might add that the Piña colada was tasty with a refreshed natural taste. I recommend this place for an enjoyable experience. Note that cash only is accepted Mexican pesos or American dollars. This is a great eatery to visit within the hotel zone. Upon departing, the waiter advised this place is open for breakfast. They open at 7am serving many of the regular breakfast foods and Mexican dishes available. The waiter welcomed me back and said, come back and you’ll have another great experience, we will here to assist you – with a smile.

I wanted to venture out from the resort and try authentic Mexican food and found Tacsun on Unilocal. The food was dirt cheap and really good. Warning there is no AC but there is a breeze coming through the restaurant. It’s maybe a 7 table spot with four or more chair each table. The salsa and chips were good. The salsa wasn’t the norm for us Americans. There were no chunky tomatoes or onions but was thin and spicy! The guacamole was really good. The best I’ve had all stay. I asked if they could mix my tacos and they did. I was able to try the beef, chicken and chorizo. The chorizo was my favorite. The rice was good and although the beans were not my regular black beans, I did enjoy it. Like others, if you want a break from the resort, definitely stop by. It’s cash only and the bill comes in pesos so you should convert US dollar before. Our entire meal was $ 17 or 240 pesos!

The food here is delicious! It was a 5minute walk from our hotel(MECANCUN). The waiter there could speak english so that was a plus and they provide wifi which is soo important to me the pw to their wifi is MARIN2015 and its 30x faster then my hotel providers. The salsa they give you in the beginning is also very good, its super spicy! My mouth was burning and the tacos were to die for. Very very good

This whole in the wall has really good Mexican food. It’s located in hotel zone. They have small seating areas, al fresco style. Very affordable, great service and the staff mostly speak some English. Highly recommend if you are in Cancun and want something different than resort food…

I’m giving 5 stars because they are good but also because everything else around is way to Americanized so being able to have good Mexican food is a solid change of pace. The prices are very good considering what everything costs in the hotel zone. Chips and salsa to start, 3 options for salsa with beans and chips. Good stuff My wife and I ordered the shrimp fajitas and we were very pleased. The dish was seasoned well and tasted like one of the regular Mexican restaurants we go to back home in LA, California Service was good, the guys are all nice and on top of what you need. Overall a good experience and good food. We will be back again next time we are in town. We already told a couple people about this place in the hotel as well.

If you’re located near the hotel zone in Cancun, Tacun is a great restaurant to get some delicious Mexican food without paying too much. The costs are reasonable and there’s something nice about eating at a small, mom and pop style restaurant that makes the experience more charming. Located on a main street, it’s definitely a great alternative to the chain restaurants nearby. Cancun can get a little too touristy — You can go to Outback Steakhouse or Bubba Gump Shrimp only so many times before you think to yourself — This ain’t Mexico! The staff at Tacun are extremely friendly, and they have festive hats that customers can wear for some epic picture taking. Who wouldn’t want to wear a big velvety Mexican hat while downing tequila shots? I do, of course! Plus, they have tequila shots that equal the size of a double shot in America. Party time!!! The piña colada was pretty good, too. It wasn’t the best piña colada I’ve ever had, but it was definitely right up there. For dinner, I ordered the chicken mole and fish ceviche. The chicken mole was a good balance of deep chocolate flavor, and the fish ceviche was fresh. The ceviche came with saltine crackers, which I thought tasted odd together. However, it was amazing with the freshly fried tortilla chips they provided. Additionally, the extra chile sauces and condiments they had on the table became the main highlight for me. Unfortunately, they only take cash, so you’re pretty much out of luck if all you have is a credit card. However, there is a Banco(Bank) close by inside the small Mexican outlet. Just a fun fact, if you need to exchange money at the Bank, you need to bring your passport for verification. Overall, Tacun was really the saving grace of our highly touristy trip to Mexico.

There is a term in Chinese used to label tourists being ripped off in foriegn countries translated to mean water fish. I didn’t get that feeling during my visit here. It helps that they have a pretty high ratings from trip advisor too. This place is not on the main road but their service and quality of food is still pretty excellent! Service was super attentive. I ordered an orange juice and made a face after a taste because it was tart and the owner quickly came over and asked if everything was ok. I guess I should be careful of my face making in public. Food is pretty good and great place to grab breakfast. Love the cappuccino. I generally love it when I am not being ripped off.
