Los Aguachiles

Tostadas were delicious. Think more gourmet flavored fresh seafood than hole in the wall.

Writing this as I sweat through the end of my original aguachiles with habanero sauce…
This meal is amazing. I rarely write reviews but felt I needed to now. Ahorita.
I got the aguachiles mixto and normally scallops and seeing tentacles puts me off. Didn’t matter. Sabroso. Rico. Omg. (Get the mustard!!)
Got more tostadas and the second batch had some burnt bits. Felt special like they cooked em up for me fresh.
The mezcal marg was above average w a chili salted rim.
Service was great. Heard English and Spanish. All the staff were very warm and on point. Doesn’t hurt that the manager/​jefe/​owner is a real beauty and pleasant to match.
This place is huge and inviting. Techno was pumping Saturday night but tasteful and at a reasonable volume even for familias. As others have noted, cAmello Jr. Is down the street but seriously, this place is top notch. Skip the lines and crowds elsewhere and come a bit further down the main avenida to aguachiles.

I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful I had garlic fish filet with fried rice the first time I went and it was very tasty. Today I had fried rice with mixed seafood and it was very good also. Antonio my waiter was very nice the chocolate brownie with ice cream hit the spot.

We arrived at about 3pm on a friday and there was only one other couple here and one lady ordering take out. Waiters were excellent and not annoying. I had the aguachiles los originales en agua verde and it was great. The GF ordered the rib eye and a cevixhe tostada. Which she said was also great. Very fresh.
I ordered a oyster shot to start and it was delicious, and fresh (Im not a huge oyster fan)
We at at El camello Jr down the street for lunch and both agreed this was better… They accept cards and amex unlike el camello which was also cool.
The restaurant is a little bit hidden even though it is on the main highway otherwise i think it would be more popular.

This place came highly recommended by our AirBnB host down the street, and I could see why. I actually have never tried aguachiles before but it’s now one of my favorite ways to eat fresh seafood! It’s typically a shrimp dish, I think, with lots of citrus and spices and some fresh veggies in there. I got the mixed aguachiles which included shrimp, fish, and scallops. They have a wide variety of sauces to choose from for your dish and I went with the avocado sauce, which was delicious! As with a lot of places near here, they’ll give you a dish piled high with tostadas and a bunch of salsas.
I was there in the low season, but I was surprised to see how empty the place always was. El Camello, another favorite on this street, was packed day and night but somehow this gem didn’t get the same love!

This place is so good!!! Ate here 3x during our trip to Tulum since we were staying in a house very close by. Love all their diff sauces that are brought to the table and my favorites were the shrimp oro negro taco and the fried shrimp taco. Good tamarindo agua frescas.

we stayed in Valeta outside the hussle and bussle of tulum and this place was right on the edge as well.
They have an english menu which helps, the gringas like me who don’t speak much spanish.
The Ceviche is amazing!
i got a mix of fish which and then you can also use some sauces provided. the ceviche dish would be good to share with another person or as an appetizer for a few people. the tostadas which my partner got were beautiful and delicious, he got one with scallops.
the drink menu is great and huge! i got a mezcal margarita type drink with the chili lime salt rim. so good! we only have a few more days in Tulum and still so much to try so we may not make it back but i definitely would if we had more time!

Very Casual outdoor seafood restaurant. Superb ceviche and fish tacos. We went at the recommendation of a local. Great for after a hot day at Tulum.
